Good Morning!

What a difference a full night's sleep can make. Ready to make another run at getting some things done today. :rotfl2:

Wow thats pretty young to stop (your sig says 8 mos?,but that gets out of date real quick) teething maybe? My DS has tried stopping at home before we left but he is going to be 3. after a week at WDW he is back on track but let's see how he does next week. We come home tomorrow. :(

The sig is correct. 8 mos. He has started teething, and has 2 teeth that have broken through recently. No signs of any more coming in at the moment. Up until a few days ago, he was taking 2 naps on a "normal" day, each one around an hour and a half to 2 hours long. One around 9-9:30am, the other around 2pm. Based on our experience with DD, we expected him to start cutting out the morning nap and keeping the afternoon one at some point. But instead it seems like he is trying out "power naps". :lmao: He fell asleep on the way back from dropping off DD at preschool, and he woke up when we came in the house. He couldn't have been asleep for more than 10 minutes. I put him down in his crib and as I type this I can hear him... not sleeping. :confused3

So far today is going the same as yesterday. Hopefully it is just a phase and he'll settle back into a routine again soon.

Did you get any of that Green Bay stock?
I would love to, but no, I didn't. $275 ($250 for the share, $25 shipping & handling) is a bit to steep considering we're still remodeling the house and have a little one on the way.

Hi everyone, new member here. Not sure at this point what all goes on here. But this thread has 51 pages in just over 2 weeks so what ever goes on here must be good. LOL
Welcome! I've been around since the first Dis Dad's thread and I'm still not sure what goes on here.

Captain, he turned out to be a nice guy. I save that kind of torture for my nemesis and Barry, just cause he's Barry.
Jealousy is not a good color on you, my friend.

I rank ahead of the captain and Barry. Wow, I don't think there's a higher honor for a disdad.:rotfl:
We have a ranking system? I didn't know that! I'm still ahead of Tim, right?

Ok the man in Japan is back with a plan. Haven't been around in quite awhile and may have had my membership revoked. Can't find my name on the list. Im on this smartphone gadget right now so going to keep it short. I will update life for those who know me and introduce myself to those who don't after work today.
Sorry, you've been replaced by Katoot. He lives in Korea, so we figured he was close enough.
Just kidding - welcome back!

Runs into the room and yells "WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD TOMORROW!"....

I wouldn't run in here. You might slip on the bacon grease. IT'S EVERYWHERE!

I left a hidden Mickey for you. Now it's your job to find it.
I'm sure the janitorial staff has flushed it by now.

By my count, only about 660 (give or take) Dads have achieved that honor!
Oh good, Tim could still be below me!

Morning Gentlemen! I'm really liking this warm weather. Heading out on the road for one last big presentation for the month and then the next week will be office time trying to get caught up. I'm ready to put this year in the books and hope 2012 is a better year.

 Ok fellow dads I am back and should be around pretty steady for atlleast the next two years as I plan my 2013 cruise and WDW visit. Is it too early to get started?

Welcome back, Wally! And, no, it is not too early to get started! :thumbsup2

OK guys... off to get last minute things packed and head to the airport! Short trip this time, but planning to make every minute count. Sorry about no TR updates though... May have to make a travel TR this time! haha!

Have a fabulous trip, Don! We'll try not to shut down the thread in your absence...

While I did have fun while there, and enjoyed numerous attractions, a) I was solo, so none of the usual waiting around for others to decide anything stuff, and b) it was not a "pleasure" trip but rather a working "research" trip. I had very specific things on my agenda, and had to keep going. I did throw in some fun "just because" stuff, and did a few new things that were quite fun along the way. I had honestly never been to the Hoop Dee Doo before, and that was just plain fun. Definitely on the must-do list for the next family trip. I also enjoyed MVMCP, though there was a bit of research in that as well - but it was fun for the most part. Quite warm this year vs. last year. Shorts & t-shirt - no jacket needed. The cocoa was nice, but not necessary at all.

Quite a trip! Looking forward to benefiting from your expertise for years to come!

What? Don, no TR? We're all shocked. :rotfl:

Aaron (AJRitz) already booked our October 2013 cruise. You might be late.

When did money become a consideration when planning? I get it though. It really didn't make sense to buy the stock and get no dividend income or value appreciation - but that vote to decide if the team leaves the city - that's the real big important factor. I thought about buying the 1 share of Disney stock with frame for each child as a gift. But then, I figured they would rather has a $50 Disney worth of Disney toys or clothes as opposed to the stock certificate. And, all my ... ahem... millions... are invested in mutual funds and twinkies. The twinkies are giving me a return, just not a return on the investment.

I'd like to see 2012 be a better year as well. But what is this warm weather you speak of? We've all got our jackets on in the office. Stupid crappy windows...

I read an article that said the stock confers no rights for making team decisions on the owner in any way, but that NFL owners are required to refrain from making any negative comments about their team or the league. Not that there's anything negative about 13-0, but you might want to boo in the future.

I'm sure the janitorial staff has flushed it by now.

Behind again. This working thing is just getting in the way of everything.... And only 44 days left. with Christmas and New years and Hunting in there. Maybe I should have started a TR a little sooner.......

I don't remember who it was that said it but I do beleive that this post would qualify as a shameless plug. Nothing much there yet. Just started. And work is in the way again. Talk to you all later.

Hope everything is going well with everyone.

:surfweb:

Morning guys.

Today is tree buying day. Way behind compared to other years. We will go out after her Lacrosse practice.

Still trying to recover from the trip. I must be getting old.

Is it Friday yet?

Good God, it's only Tuesday and it's been "one of those weeks".

Keep telling myself just to get through next week....:lmao:

I also found out about some stuff that's coming at work, while I was at WDW, that's making it difficult to post much. I managed to pretty much ignore it until I got home, but at this point I'm sort of in a permanently cranky spot, and it's probably the better part of valor that I refrain from posting much. I fear I'd say something I regret. I'll post a full Rant in the appropriate thread here in a bit. I probably need to get that off my chest before we record a podcast tonight.

Just booked three days at the DVC Disney California as an add on to the Hawaii trip. In a month, I burned through the few 2011 points that were left, all of 2012 points and two from 2013. First time I don't have points for the upcoming year. Oh well, a once in a lifetime tip. And I can always borrow. Airfare and diving add on need to be booked and paid for. Have a few months to for those.

Super excited.
We loved the GC last week. We stayed there and the Howard Johnson last week and the GC was a lot nicer. It didn't hurt that they upgraded us to a 5th floor park view room.

I'll be curious to hear from you or Stopherhow you handle food at Aulani. It looks like for a lot of families that can be the most expensive part of the trip. Are you planning on eating on property the whole time or will you be getting a car and leaving?

I've always favored the sandwich heavy portfolio.

I need to start a DL trip report, but it took DW and I the full flight back to look through most of the pictures from the trip. I have no idea where to start.

Where have I been...well living life and taking care of my family the best way I know how. We had originally planned a return to Florida this year, but a little event called Wrestlemania 27 came up in my original homestate and I wasn't missing that.
For those that don't know me my name is Wally. I am a dad of 5, but only my 2 daughters live with me and my wonderful wife. My oldest daughter is now 20 and driving me out of my mind at the moment. My youngest daughter is 18 and has calmed down a bit. I did a TR back in 2007 and they were just kids then. I live in Japan and my home park is Tokyo disney Resort. If you dad's ever need help with anything on this side of the ocean then I am the one to give a shout to.
Now I can't remember the last I posted on a DDC forum, but I think it was before I bought my new house.
I will say this year has been rough since March 11th here in Japan. Scared the peanut butter out of me that day I can tell you that. Things are still not back to normal...in fact I couldn't illuminate the house for Christmas this year because of the earthquake back in March, but hey there is next year. Anyway it feels good to be back and expect more in the near future.

Wally - Nice to meet ya.

I couldn't imagine what life in Japan was like during the earthquake / tsunami. Glad your family made it through safely. If the worst thing to come of it is you can't put up christmas lights, I'd say your doing ok. :thumbsup2

Look forward to seeing you 'round here.

We have never done Hoop De Doo either.

We usually do 1 signature dining per trip, and next trip it is Hoop De Doo... We are looking forward to it.

Welcome back Wally.
Welcome back to that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around.....

Have a great trip Don.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Well, my finals are given and graded. My semester grades are submitted to the university. I have one minor two page document to draft. After that it's pack the suitcases and the van. We sleep tonight at my in-laws near Des Moines. We sleep tomorrow in Pop Century. :thumbsup2 Seven days in WDW followed by six days with my parents on the Gulf Coast and another four days at my inlaws when we return. What a great way to end the year!

Since I'm not likely spend much time checking or posting to the boards until after Christmas let me wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS :santa:

Cross your fingers the boards will fall into another of those time warps, although by the sound of it, it'll be Monday again...:rotfl2:

Ryan, are you going to be around the next couple of days? There's an update out to our website theme, but I haven't updated yet, for fear of messing witht he customization you did for it.

I'm around. Let me know when you want to do the upgrade and I'll login in to migrate the child template.

Froze my butt off at the Dis event at Harry Potter. Well, I am a Floridian after all. And I gave my jacket to DD's friend because she was cold. Really nice here this week. High 70s to 80 lows in the mid 60s.

Did Hoop a few times. The food was just OK on early trips but the last one it was great. All you can eat Fried Chicken! The entertainment value is fantastic.

The DVC Board directed me to the thread you started about VGC. Started looking at it but did not want to see pictures of the resort before the trip. I know weird but I want my first impression "live." Have to get the info on other places.

2011 was a different kind of year for me. Will post thoughts when we get closer to 2012. Do hope it will be a better year for you.

Same here. DD last day of school is Friday so the holidays will begin then.

Permanent cranky here to. Rant away. I turned down an organization to write a big grant for them. Would have taken about two weeks to do and I did not want to spend the holidays working on it. Not a great business decision because the are POed. I told them if they let me know earlier, I would be glad to do it. Maybe they will appreciate me more now.

Get to work on the TR. Why don't you start at the beginning, "It was the best of times and the worst of times." Requested a high floor and someone suggested a Paradise Pier view. If you are lucky, you could get a World of Color view.

In Hawaii, we will have a 1BR with the kitchen. Some easy meals like breakfast, lunch and snacking will be at the room. Do plan on trying the restaurants at the resort and "local" places around the island. Even though the Dis Podcast team slammed the resort restaurants. Will have a car so getting around will not be a problem.

The big issue is the diving portion. The better sites are in Maui. So I would need to get to Maui from Honolulu. DD also wants to see the volcanoes and from what I read so far, the better sites are in the Big Island. Thinking of getting a car in Maui use it there and ferry over to the BI and ferry to Oahu. Don't know if that is feasible yet. Time shouldn't be a problem because we will be there 15 days.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
