Can we really...REALLY...be TEENAGERS again?? Answer on the START of our TR!!

Glad to know she is just busy! I can certainly undestand that as I return to work tomorrow. :sad1::sad1::sad1: I have been off 2 weeks and returning will be into the rat race since I work at a college!

My DH would be the same way about the alcohol consumption...:rolleyes1:lmao:

Here i am!! Oy, work has been so stressful that I can't even begin...and it won't end until we deploy this system out to the entire world on February 1st...!!! I won't get more specific, but I truly, truly believe that God had me plan this trip so that I would have something to look forward to.

What's bad is, I have such a hard time seeing over the "mountain" of work to get a heart for planning this trip...almost like I can't believe it's there (although I know it is) until after the mountain of work/stress is gone. Isn't that crazy? :headache:

But, I promised Melissa that I would try...and 2 days ago, my DH says to me from his laptop: "Honey, the airline just adjusted your flight to Orlando!" :scared1:

Melissa, I'll be 10 minutes later. :rotfl: Melissa has no idea what that is in relation to what it was. What's funny is, I don't even know (where I currently am at work & don't have access) what the flight info is to post it at the moment...will do that later.

Okay...maybe I'll get to that, tonight. And more, shortly. I have to remember not to neglect this planning, or we'll both be sorry!

Vickie

Vickie

That's funny about the flight. I keep having to pull up the calendar to check the dates. I have to tell myself "not valentine's week but the weekend after that". And it's not just this trip, was having issues with the one coming up also.

Hmmm, wonder if I get there before you if they will let me check-in?

Maybe I should post some updates and stuff to keep this going, but it will have to wait on me too. Trying to get house clean for DMIL arrival next week, doctor appointments and just other things getting in the way of my Dis time.

Hope the New Years has been nice to everyone so far and that you have a great week.:goodvibes

Okay!! I got the info on the flight. I plan to take off work on Thursday to get packed & ready to go -- that will be on the 17th. On Friday, the flight is taking off from San Antonio at 6:45am.

Arrive in Orlando at 1:31pm.

I leave Orlando on Monday, 21 Feb at 6:30pm (because everyone wants to get ONE MORE DAY of WDW in before they leave!!), and arrive in San Antonio at:

11:48pm. Wow. Almost midnight. :scared1:

I can't complain, because this flight doesn't cost us anything -- it's on DH's airline miles.

That gives us: Friday afternoon/evening, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning/noon. I plan for either 3 or 4 days of Park Hopper tickets. Melissa, if my PH ticket that I'm trying to buy from ITT doesn't work, can I get you to buy me one as a mil spouse? :flower3:

That's it for tonight...and once Melissa has her anniversary trip, we'll be in full swing for planning!! :woohoo:

My workload has quadrupled so I am glad I had already made the majority of my plans for our trip! Why does real life have to interrupt Disney planning? :confused3

I don't think I would complain about flight times at all if my tickets were free! :goodvibes

I have no idea how I missed the start of this one. Sooooo jealous of your BFF trip - it sounds fantastic!

Loved the back story of your friendship!

I'm all about returning on a later flight and getting more time at the parks.

On a side note, I was just in New Braufels for a business trip and flew in and out of the San Antonio airport. Very nice airport I must say. I like that it's not gigantic.

Oh, WOW! You pretty much drove right by our house -- off of I-35 between New Braunsfel and San Antonio! They have done quite a bit of work on our little airport -- I do miss some of the nicer things you can get at O'Hare, DFW or Atlanta, but seeing as those are major hubs and we will probably never be, I'm happy with it. ;)

I am actually starting to think less about my horrendous, stressful work schedule -- NOT going on to work on this holiday is proof of that. I seriously considered going in...but thinking about getting to the airport, what kind of bag will I pack, etc -- those things are beginning to be thought of.

I'm actually thinking of going smallish. No hairdryer, no shampoo/conditioner (there's some in the room, maybe I can get more than the normal share?) ;) ...any other ideas?

What I wear on Friday for the flight, I don't intend to change when we go out (for whatever we do...wait a minute).

We don't have a schedule yet!!!

Okay...may have to work on this tonight. My BFF is currently doing the most splendiforous anniversary stay right now at WDW, and I could be doing this work while she is otherwise occupied. I've been remiss. Does it seem like I'm rambling? I think I am.

The other thing I need to do: work out the Rules of Engagement. This is normally a term for warfare, but can work in other instances -- what we will and will not do, agreed upon, together. Such as:

1) We will not watch parades.

Melissa has really taken a liking to parades, and I can't say I blame her, but we are talking trying to get through parks in a quickish timeframe, and we must prioritize. My feeling is: parades make for smaller lines. :rotfl:

Okay...more tonight. Thanks for popping in every once in a while...this will get better as we get closer and my attention span can be spared for working on this trip --

can I go tomorrow? :cloud9:

I certainly think smallish is better! ;) The hair dryers work perfectly okay for me!

I agree about the parades. While I enjoy them, they are not a must-do. And from what I hear, the new DHS parade isn't all that great. I saw a You Tube video and it was 'eh'. But then I never saw Block Party...other attractions were always calling my name!!

If you have a moment, I have a new PTR! ;)

Okay, I may not have a schedule, yet, but I can still put up a starter list of Rules of Engagement for my BFF, and I. There are some assumptions, here:

1) Park hopper for me (she has a AP)
2) 4 days of parks, possible (will try to get ticket this week)
3) Dining plan may be QSDP, with one TS reservation...still debating
4) Staying at SSR...don't think we're getting BLT

ROEs:

1. No parades...other than happenstance
2. No shows...she's seen them, so have I (or all the ones I'm interested in)
3. Can break #2 in case of a) cold, b) wet, or c) tired
4. Must ride all major rides/rollercoasters, hopefully at least 2x, but at least once
5. Only wet rides if a) warm weather, and b) light clothing (it's FEBRUARY!!)
6 - ?

Need to determine:

1) What shopping is a "must" for each park
2) What is more important: morning, or evening in the park?
3) What & when do we decide to drink? ;)
4) Who gets up and showers first?

:rotfl:

Hopefully this will get Melissa's attention... ;)

I love your ROE!! :rotfl: Those are great!

#3 on the "To Be Determined" list should be easy enough! :rotfl2:

It sounds like just go and have a good time is the "unwritten" plan!! :thumbsup2

You know, you might be right. I may be trying to make this more complicated than it is! :rolleyes1

I guess it just feels like Fri-Mon isn't going to be "enough time", and I want to try to make the most of it.

Oh, btw -- good news -- I got my FOUR DAY PARK HOPPER!!! :cool1::woohoo::yay:

Funny thing happened to me today...:

I was on the DVC member site, goofing around. Just looking a member perks, ya know...and then I thought -- oh, man, I better get Magical Express booked for the trip!!

It's gonna be here sooner than I think. I think.

So, I am booking it...and when I get to the end of the page to "continue", it keeps coming back to the same page. "PHooey," I think to myself. "I guess it's down...just my luck."

Then, I think -- maybe there's something wrong with the reservation?

So, I go look into the My Vacation information, where it keeps all your past vacations, etc, and I'm not seeing Saratoga Springs Resort. I almost (ALMOST) get frustrated...when I realize I am staring at a:

BAY LAKE TOWERS reservation!! :eek::eek: .... :banana::banana::banana::banana:

We got our wait-list reservation change!!! :cool1: I could not believe it. I ran in to see my hubby (after hooting and hollering)...and he was jealous. I couldn't blame him...but I was so excited!! :woohoo:

I quick/ran back to my computer and put a note on Melissa's Facebook page:

Melissa - I have GREAT NEWS -- and it begins with B...L...T!!!!

Oh, boy...we are gonna have so much FUN!!! :cheer2:

Wonder what our view will be:

Before I take off for the rest of the afternoon, thought I'd share with you some shots we took of BLT before it opened to the public...we went over & looked at it like the week before it opened.

From the bridge:

The lake view, which we are supposed to get:

The pool view:

Hallway:

A view I'm sure we won't get!

Yeah, this is the big room...they want to impress you when they show you this stuff:

Now, I know, and I've heard, that the studio room is much smaller than the SSR studio room. And, more expensive, points-wise. But, there are trade-offs...

Okay...gotta run.

That is so awesome that you got BLT!! What fun!!!!!!!:cool1: And :thumbsup2 on getting that 4 day PH!!

I think I would be stressing slightly at planning a short trip as well! Oh, Okay...I have been there!! :rolleyes1 Planning for 4 full days this past June was so hard!! And my super planning mode set in but when we got there we did a lot of spur of the moment. I just have issues with planning spur of the moment!! :lmao:

I have no idea how I missed the start of this one. Sooooo jealous of your BFF trip - it sounds fantastic!

Hey there ScotsMinnie!!!

I think this is the color I chose for my posts, or was that another TR or PTR? Sorry I haven't been around. Had a wonderful trip with the DH and then got sick. Good news is that hopefully I'll be good to go when Vickie arrives. Should be by then. I'm still loopy though, so my typing is awful and my thoughts are a little . Funny, that's how I look every morning.:rotfl:

:yay: on BLT. I got a great view while parasailing a couple of weeks ago.:rolleyes1 Still can't believe I did that.:scared1:

I am perfectly happy skipping the parades, not that big of a fan, but love to get pictures of them.

And no shows, not a problem either. Does that include the fireworks?

I was wondering if we were still going counterservice? Sounds good.

And I can bring my hairdryer and shampoo and conditioner. I'll also bring water. And I am guessing I will be first one up since it takes an hour just to dry my hair.

I'm more of a night time kind of girl, looks like Epcot is open until Midnight our first night. MK is open until 3:00am on Sunday/Monday. Could hit Jelly Rolls either Friday or Saturday night. I love parks at night, always have.

Not sure if Vickie saw one of my responses on FB, but wondered if instead of eating one Table Service, would she like to do one of the Segway tours?

I always seem to be "going by" them when they are happening -- I'm sure we'll get some photo ops. :)

And no shows, not a problem either. Does that include the fireworks?

Of course not! :scared1: Fireworks are an entirely different matter...well, to be honest, I do like parades, but it's hard for me to think about parades and fireworks without the family. I just could picture us sipping on a drink & watching them...will definitely have to "map out" what we are going to see, when!

I was wondering if we were still going counterservice? Sounds good.

We had to "zap out" my WDW account -- DVC dues. I'm building it back up for QSDP, but I'll know closer to the event whether it would just be smarter to do OOP.

And I can bring my hairdryer and shampoo and conditioner. I'll also bring water. And I am guessing I will be first one up since it takes an hour just to dry my hair.

Woo-hoo -- water!! :cool1: I was also thinking of bringing my JCPenney Bobble (water bottle w/filter).

I saw that about Epcot, too -- party!! And I'm all about the parks at night...even though I know that the best time to ride multiples in MK is in the morning.

Not sure if Vickie saw one of my responses on FB, but wondered if instead of eating one Table Service, would she like to do one of the Segway tours?

Hmmm...this is a tough one. Will have to think a bit more...the foodie in me is getting worried. ;)

This week at work is the final, most stressful week I will have had in a long time...it will really be good to get to this weekend. :)

Woo hoo! Girls only trip! Sounds like so much fun, we tried to do this 2 years ago for our 40th bdays but the hubbys enjoy WDW as much as we do, so we let them come along. :) No kids though! ;) Although they still hold it against us, remember that one time, when you went to Disney without us.

I am also 42 years young, married in '93, and my BFF is my Disney enabler! No band for us though, we were on the Pom-Dance squad!!!!! :cheer2:

Have a great time!!!!!

Welcome!!!

"I'm glad you are feeling better -- although I think it would be a blast to deal with a "loopy" Melissa!"

How to get loopy Melissa....Just add alcohol. I see this occurring.

"Did DH get a picture of you up there?"

You will have to read the TR.

Not worried about getting pics of the parades, so don't mind skipping them for the rides. Feel the same way about the fireworks. I've gotten to the point that if I can't be on the Hub or down Main Street, I'm not interested in them.

Either way for me is fine when it comes to our dining. I'm not a breakfast eater, so having breakfast credits are sort of a waste. Plus, still stuffed from this last trip.:lmao:

So, after reading Vickie's latest responses, I'm thinking this is all about the rides. I see a little about shopping, but rides seem to be more important. Hmmm, should we make this a challenge to see if we can ride all rides, except for the Tea Cups, can't do those.

are we there yet????:goodvibes

Hi, Stephanie!! :welcome:

Wow, just when you think you were the only one who is 42, married in '93, and has a Disney-enabling BFF!! :lmao: My hubby almost had to call Melissa when I told him about her offer to do the tour instead of the TS dining -- to tell her, "NO WAY!!" :rotfl: He said we were already having too much fun without him -- and we haven't even gone, yet!! popcorn::

It's like a clown on fire --

little bit funny....

little bit sad.

:lmao:
