Can we really...REALLY...be TEENAGERS again?? Answer on the START of our TR!!

Yup, it was during that time.

ohhh I miss the Hand :)

BFF's are such treasure... so excited for the both of you on this upcoming trek to the World!!!

I remember in 6th/7th grade having a picture in my clarinet case....I was such a fan! He really looks clsoe to the same as way back then!!

I played clarinet also! Yes, I was completely surprised how well he looked.

Thank you. Hopefully we don't end up being run off the Boardwalk like some people.:rolleyes1:rotfl: We won't have the Duck there to take care of us.:goodvibes

Vickie, before I forget. Learned a couple of new terms that might be useful in our planning:

Monorail Crawl - stop in a bar at each resort on the Monorail and have a drink. Guess we could start at Epcot.

Bus Bingo - go to bus stop and hop on the first one to arrive. Explore wherever it drops us off and do the same. Think Jacob and I will try this Thanksgiving.

I have only got through the first post and I am in! I LOVE the child-free TRs or at least the ones with older children (12+). They are not easy to find here but I find I can relate to them more.

I was in marching band in high school. I played the clarinet. Yay, B.G. pride!

:welcome: And another clarinet player. Never knew they were so popular.:goodvibes

You might like parts of my ongoing TR. Working on a Dismeet portion right now, no kids. (Don't get me wrong, I love my son, but adults need to have fun also.;))

See you have a PTR, may go check it out.

I am LOVING the Monorail Crawl!!! :lmao: One snag -- Magic Kingdom...although, I know they are serving drinks on the way out of Space Mountain, if you can just get in there with the robot!!

Yes, I definitely think Jacob will enjoy the Bus Bingo more than the Monorail Crawl...mom can be kind of heavy, after a while. :rotfl:

:cheer2::cheer2: Yay, I remember you from another TR from a girl in Hawaii -- she had a great TR, then broke up with her DBF... :sad2:

Thanks for joining us! You will be there not long after us -- so exciting!! I will def have to check out your PTR... (I love Hawaii...sigh...that is a LONG plane ride!!!)

;)

Melissa and I have met a few times with our families in the World (and as you saw, in other places), and I can't exactly put my finger on the first time one of us mentioned that we should just get together, by ourselves. The prospect excited and worried me at the same time -- excitement is obvious -- the worry stemmed from the fact that I didn't know if my DH would really want me to go without him, and how could I say, "No, you stay home!"? So, it was really a joint decision. Another worry was about my DD -- would she be jealous? Would she resent being left at home? We always had a good time riding rides together. The last worry: could we afford just to send lil ol' me on vacation, all by myself?

Yowzers, that last one was a doozy. So, all these hurdles...I had great anticipation when Melissa and I would talk about it, but on the other hand, I cringed...it's all good when the World is just an hour or so away, and you can go any weekend that is good for you (wink, wink)...

On one of our TRs, Melissa mentions this wish, months ago, once again. If I was really motivated, I'd point it out, but the night is waning, and I grow sleepy. Perhaps this could be Melissa's assignment? :lmao:

This one little "mention" of our getting together, one time before they move away from Florida, galvanizes me. You know...all of you know, who are reading this -- that little SPARK. The one that says, "...oh...just go look at the WDW site again...see what's going on..."

What are the specials? Can I take advantage of them?

I begin looking at the website. I'm telling you, a lot of thought goes into that site. There are probably psychologists with extra degrees in marketing who are hired to PULL YOU IN...suck you down into the website, to try different resorts -- oh, look at this date! -- oh, that price isn't bad, I might be able to do THAT -- OHHHHHH!! Free DINING?? Sweet!! How can I work THAT in???

You know.

I started baiting my husband.

I do this also, just so you know, with cruise information, every now and then.

Yes, we are not in a cash-flow friendly environment right now...but we both tend to ignore this fact when we start looking at vacations. What the heck is the matter with us? We're both bad for each other, I'm tellin' ya.

But I DO NOT, at this point, say anything to Melissa. You can't go forward until you have the beginnings of a plan...and I, my dears, am just BEGINNING to plan -- Muahhahahahahahah!!! (evil laugh, from not-so-evil woman)

:rotfl2:

I know exactly what you mean!! My degree is in Marketing and I know the ploys but Disney goes over and beyond to suck me in!! I am usually able to slide by ads and those enticing displays in grocery stores but they but that Free Dining out there and now I am booking for May....Keith is rolling his eyes!! :rotfl: He asked me if I realized there were other places to go on vacation and I replied "Yea, and we are planning those as well!":confused3 But thanks to this economy I am having to do some serious saving!!

And, yea clarinet players!! I loved it so much I talked Madison into [playing the flute!!:lmao:

Ok, this is getting really weird. I think you may be mine and Vickie's long lost triplet. We were Marketing majors also.

I know how you feel, yes there are other places to vacation, but it's Disney!!! It's Walt's dream, we have to go!

I love you already! Trading my Lucky Charm in!!! :lmao:

:scared1::rotfl2:

Hmmm, I can not remember that night when I mentioned a "girls" trip. I know I have mentioned more and more since meeting all of these great Dis'ers and experiencing Jelly Rolls. I remember thinking "I have to take Vickie to Jelly Rolls." The only way to do that is to leave the kids at home.

I do remember the first time I came up with the idea. I think it was about a year before Vickie turned 40. I thought it would be fun to do a girls trip for our 40th. Can we still say this is our 40th birthday trip?:rotfl:

And what does it say about me, I had no problem with the thought of leaving my family behind.:lmao:

Yes, I am SOOOO there with you...my family also rolls their eyes on going back to WDW, with the exception of my DGD. I keep socking $$ away, but I know it probably won't last past Christmas...

YAY for flute players!! Jordan is a 3rd generation flute player! :woohoo:

I love you already! Trading my Lucky Charm in!!! :lmao:

You'll be fine... Vickie is with you :rolleyes::rolleyes: "buddha be with you both" :worship:

Awww...Duck, through Melissa's eyes, I can see how you are both each other's Lucky Charms!!

...on the other hand, Melissa & I have a history of barely keeping each other out of trouble...running red lights, turning left on red, turning left on a "no left turn" -- Melissa, it's a good thing we're doing Disney transportation!!! :lmao:

I am looking forward to Jelly Rolls...will definitely be on the plan, since I've been wanting to peruse that area, anyway! Did you say there was a chance we'd meet up with folks?

...do we HAVE to say we're 40?? Can we choose a lower number, and see what we can get away with? (I know...we're beyond that, anyway...I should just be hoping people don't believe I'm 40!!)

That is a little freaky!! Too funny!!

Walt wanted us to go and enjoy and feel young again....right??:confused3 Plus I always feel like I have missed something each time I go and I must return to be able to enjoy those things missed!! :goodvibes

I actually had Keith say if I would promise not to talk about Disney anymore then I could book a trip....ZZZIIIIIPPPPP......:lmao:

But my mom is going and she is beside herself with excitement so I just call or e-mail her! :thumbsup2

I really love the flute!! But I still can't get a sound out of it! The only thing I really didn't like about the clarinet was when you messed up everyone knew from the awful squeeking!! :rotfl:

I know not of what you speak.:rolleyes1:rotfl2:

At Jacob's school they give them two weeks in each elective so they can determine which one they want, he is in band right now. He didn't like the clarinet. Seemed to like the trumpet though. Might have a band geek yet.:goodvibes

Jordan said, that is pretty cool!! (that he gets to try his electives)

Then she asked me, "Did you want me to take band every year??" :scared1: I was like, "Girl, you need to try high school band at least one year, to see if you like it...away football games ROCK!!"

40?? what is that... repeat after me... "I am Plenty9... take it or leave it!!" hihihi

I left off, baiting my husband. It goes something like this:

“Look, Honey – Disney is having these great deals on free dining – we could stay in a value hotel and get QSDP, and it would be a great deal!”

He wasn’t impressed. I mean, staying in a value just to go to Disney again appealed to me, but not him. We are DVC owners, and my family has become a bit snobbish about not staying in something less, if they don’t have to.

“I was just thinking,” I must have said something like this, “It would be really cool to go see Melissa on some weekend, you know, before she moves away from Florida.”

I had been having some stressful times at work (and still am), and my DH knew this. “You should go,” he said. “You’ve been talking about it.”

“Yeah? But I feel guilty about it,” I said.

“Oh, Jordan and I will do something,” he threatens. I know what that means, and I also know how almost impossible it would be for them to do.

“But, how can we afford it?” I answer. “I mean, it seems cheap enough…but…” we had just started down this road of going on a budget to get out of some debt, and a trip away didn’t seem feasible with this kind of necessary frugalness…not to mention the cruise trip my DH seemed to think he could take in my absence.

“Why don’t you stay on DVC points?” he offered. “Stay in AKV, Concierge. Eat there…” Well, it’s not really enough to eat there and save, but with the $ you’d save on breakfast, it might be worth it. Also, he reasoned, we were already paying for the points each month, so we’d save on lodging.

RL_AKVJ_240.jpg

But it also worried me – what if I ate up a bunch of points, and it was too many to allow us to go on a family trip, later? Even still, I began looking at the points…and it was a lot.

And what about the tickets? Turns out, we had 3 days left on non-expiring cards – score one for frugalness!!!

On August 29th, I sent my BFF this message (excerpt) on Facebook:

Also, I saw where you mentioned my trip to WDW. We are looking at cost options -- how many days are we talking? And then otherwise, you & I could stay with points somewhere in a studio.
Alternatively, I'd love to go "all out" in a way and get a value resort for 5 days with free QSDP, but I don't think that appealed to you ... and my family seemed a little upset that I would spend that much $ and not take them. ;)

An hour later, I sent this FB email:

Robert just suggested that we stay in AKV Concierge in a studio -- that will pay for a lot of our food -- breakfast, and light supper -- and drinks. :) What do you think? I saw someone had put some non-avail time in Concierge studio for Feb, so if we want to do that, we better do it quick.

Also, since I have these 3 days of tickets, maybe we do Fri night, Sat, and then Sun night and leave Monday so that I get at least 2.5 days of parks, versus one full day & 2 half days...

Really thinking about calling you...!! :)

How long do you think it was before we were talking?

:woohoo:

It is cool he gets to try his electives. And they offer a lot, it is taking two semesters to try them all, so far he has had Health, Technology, Business Technology, Band, and Chorus (Jacob gets mad if I say choir.:rotfl2:). Can't remember what all is left. Oh, they have a cooking class, you know how that will go over.;)

Hopefully you see this, enter submit forgetting to comment on Jordan and Band. I agree, if she likes band she should try High School for one year. Who knows, she may end up in the color guard like us. But, I noticed you said how fun the football games were and didn't mention the band trips. It's not giving me the smilies in the edit. But insert ;-), ROTFL, and several others I'm sure. LOL
