Valentine's Day Gifts

Our DS was born on Valentine's Day. The day was all about him, until he was grown. We still buy him a birthday gift, Valentine's chocolates & put balloons on his mailbox. If he doesn't have other plans, we spend the evening with him. If he does, we go out to a nicer than usual dinner. Neither of us have any interest in gifts. We just never got in the habit of buying gifts for each other, because we didn't want him to have to share his day.

My husband and I do not exchange gifts for holidays, anniversary etc. We instead got season tickets to our theatre’s Broadway season when the kids were little as a way to have a scheduled date in our busy schedule. We have amazing seats and we renew them every year as our gift to each other. Now that the kids are bigger and love theatre too they will join us at some of the shows.

No, but admittedly, I'm not much of a jewelry girl. I'd like a nice card and to go out to dinner -- or better yet get takeout and watch a show.

DH and I don't exchange any V-day gifts. We wish each other a Happy V-Day but that's it.

Dh gives me a nice card and a bottle of rum. Keeps the wedding ring on my finger....the only jewelry I wear.

I always thought this was a holiday for the people who screwed up to redeem themselves & would find jewels sketchy, as in, "Why, what did you do?"

Valentines is a nice dinner now, it gets a nod in cute "Spring is Coming!" decorations, colorful candy hearts noone eats and flowers I pick but that's all. The day hasn't mattered since high school when I did, admittedly look for my name in the paper when people would take out big ads professing undying love.

DH has bought me jewelry for Valentine's Day before, but not every year and I never expect it.

DH is hard to buy for because he just doesn't have a lot of hobbies or needs, but I do always get him something too. Usually a nice bottle of bourbon.

Same, except my husband doesn’t drink. So he gets a box of his favorite chocolates.
