Boys in girls bathroom

To me it's eh, no big deal. However, I've been in some schools were there are no doors on the stalls in the girls bathroom and that could have been a huge problem!

Where the heck do you live?????? I would NEVER use a public restroom anywhere that required me to sit on a toilet in a stall without a door. Can't say that I know anyone who would! Womens/girls bathrooms are generally designed with a females desire for privacy in mind and a school bathroom would be no different. Women/girls are not like men.....they don't like to let it all hang out in front of strangers. The only place I'm aware that women need to take care of their toileting needs out in the open for all to see would be in jail!

Sorry, that's using an extreme and unlikely example to back up a point of view :)

Frankly, I'm in the "it's a victimless prank' camp. My daughter is in middle school and I can't say I'd be 'upset' if this were to have happened at their school; and neither would she. Of course, she probably got her level head from her mother :)

No, that's not all he's going to see. He's going to see pubic hair. He might see her changing a pad or a tampon. If he happens to catch her wiping, he could see a LOT of her private area. As a 13 yr old girl, having anyone see any of that would have made me want to curl up and die, and I do not think I'm alone.

No, you are definitely not alone. My 12 yr. old Dd is confident & well adjusted but if that happened to her, it would be a huge deal.

Let me reiterate. I said it was no big deal UNLESS it was a situation where the boys came in where there were no doors on the stall. I am not using an unlikely situation to back anything up. It's an actuality that could happen based on some schools I am familiar with.

Oh sweet baby Jesus* swaddled in a manger. No where in the article did it say any girls were in there doing anything in stalls with no doors. Even if they had, there has to be intent for it to be a "serious offense". If they just snuck in to see the bathroom and happen to see something it is different than running in to stare at a girl pee. I would bet most of them wouldn't even know if there were doors on the stalls or not.

Are young girls really that fragile anyway? If some girl walked in and saw me taking a dump with the door open while I was in 5th grade I really wouldn't have cared.

The school has to do something. A "stop being an idiot" or even a detention should suffice considering no one got hurt. Being seen while peeing doesn't exactly make you a victim. At most it is a bit embarrassing for a minute. Really at that point the school needs to reconsider their no-door policy and, if that is done, no one has to worry about this scenario, do they?

*Pronounced 'Hey-Zeus' of course. Don't want to fall afoul of any board rules.

Not to most young girls, though, Frank. Seriously, it could be absolutely humiliating.

Yes Frank, young girls are that fragile! If you had been one or when you have one of your own, that will likely become more clear. Its a bit beyond peeing and has been outlined by others. I have a 15 year old daughter and let me tell you she would be moritified. And she's grown up with brothers, squatted in the woods on camping trip and can hold her own with the guys. But there are certain things she has to do that would be very upsetting if they were viewed by boys. Or even girls.

I do agree, we are really digressing and I don't think the scenario of a young girl in a doorless stall was ever on the radar of the OP.

But young girl or grown woman, women do things in the bathrom that they don't want otehrs to see besides just the proverbial "dump".

I'll put it this way. Do you have or have had a girlfriend? Have you ever seen her changing a tampon? Not likely. Cause that is something most women want some privacy for. Heck I am married, my husband watched me give birth but he never watched me do the other. Probably weird to you but not to women.

Okay, can't believe I just wrote that but I am keeping it there cause even if I xxx it all out, everybody knows what I am talking about.

But I sitll say the OP's nephew was just pulling a prank but that in a doorless bathroom set up, the girls would be humiliated.

<sigh> The only reason I brought up the no door situation was because there are schools that don't have them. I never said that's what happened in the story. I was just saying IN MY OPINION that some parents could have a big problem with it IF that was the situation.

Again- If the boys went in the bathroom (WHERE THERE ARE STALL DOORS) then big whoop. I wouldn't have an issue with it at all.

Oh sweet baby Jesus* swaddled in a manger. No where in the article did it say any girls were in there doing anything in stalls with no doors.

Right. That's why many of us are saying "it wasn't a big deal as long as there were stall doors and/or they didn't look in stalls."

Are young girls really that fragile anyway? If some girl walked in and saw me taking a dump with the door open while I was in 5th grade I really wouldn't have cared.

Yes. Yes they are. Now I'm sure someone is going to say "I wouldn't have cared" but they are the exception, not the norm.

Get back to us when you actually know something about teenage girls.
Seriously, no snark intended but you just don't know what you're talking about.

Just because no girl was in the bathroom when they did it doesn't mean it should be treated as a victimless prank... They didn't know if there would be a girl in the bathroom and it should be treated as if they were trying to be peeping toms... if I shoot a gun into a crowd and it doesn't happen to actually hit anyone it isn't a victimless crime because it could have easily killed someone... same thing applies to this "boys"... too often the "boys will be boys" line is used and things escalate, nail them with some heavy penalty now and you wont have any issues later... let it slide and you'll see more problems later.
Really? How do you know? Again, was this "after hours", during class, or during a break between classes? I don't know that that's been specified. Were there girls in the bathroom at the time?

No I got that. I just have never heard of such a thing so it sounded absurd to me to even state it as an "UNLESS". I will concede that others insist they have seen it though so I must stand corrected. I will say again that I'd love to know where such a thing is allowed because that stuff would NEVER fly in the areas I've lived and worked. I simply can't imagine any woman taking care of business in public. I'd be more likely to go outside and hide behind a bush!

I will go on to say all this talk about what the boys 'could've' seen is crazy. They didn't. You tell them like it is and let them know that if it happens again there will be dire consequences. End of story.

Did we ever get an answer as to whether or not there were girls in the bathroom when the boys went in?

Yes Frank, young girls are that fragile!

Alright, fair enough. I never embarrassed very easily, or at all really, so it is just foreign to me. That's all.

But young girl or grown woman, women do things in the bathroom that they don't want others to see besides just the proverbial "dump".

You are right, I have never watched them change a tampon. On the other hand had I walked into the bathroom while they were unintentionally or even intentionally thinking they were doing something else in there and had happen to see it I doubt it would have been a big issue. Just an oops, sorry, and a moment of embarrassment that was over quickly. I just used the proverbial dump because that is the only thing I'd be sitting on a toilet naked doing in school.

Well, that was an odd wandering off of the original topic. My bad. Personally I think it is pretty ridiculous to not have doors on the stalls. I know my schools all did, at least in the boy's/men's rooms.

Seriously, you don't think that would be humiliating for a young girl/preteen?

No more so then a girl walking into a boy's bathroom...and in typical DIS style, this is getting blown WAY out of proportion :sad2:.

Do you really think that teen boys/girls have never seen, at least in pictures, what the the opposite sex looks like naked???

If this happened to my DD she probably would have found the kid and slapped him, at least, and we would have stood by her in that action. Our school, however, has doors on the stalls so it would have been a non-issue from the start

Fair enough back at you!

If my husband or then boyfriend had walked in on me at a "female moment" i would have gotten over it. Some strange boy when I was 13, I'd be scarred for life!!!;)

Some TMI, but well said

Only on the Dis could some stupid boys walking into a girls bathroom as a "prank" be turned into the guys walking into the girls bathroom and seeing girls doing all sorts of things in stalls without doors and injuring their psyche forever.

In this Dis version of the telephone game....by the time this thread gets locked, they will have been busted having sex with someone in a stall....without a door....by someone who had a camera phone who then posted the video on youtube.

but only after shooting half the school with their Red Rider BB gun....:lmao:

I think your nephew and his friends are lying. They didn't care to know if there were mirrors in the girl's bathroom. If that is the case all you have to do is open the door and peek in and you can see the mirrors. They were IN THE BATHROOM on a dare or trying to catch a peek or whatever reason they were in there. They were coming up with some excuse off the top of their heads to try to minimize their guilt for doing something they know they shouldn't do. I would rather have seen them have a 3 day at home suspension with zeros for the missed work. Punishment should be punishment. In school suspension where you get to do your work and get grades for it is no punishment.

I seriously think some on here have truly forgotten what it is like to be a kid!

In this day and age of kids doing truly horrible things, I find some boys doing an age old dare refreshing.

:thumbsup2

Agreed - but that would be no more embarrassing than 100 other things that happen to kids that age. I don't see it as anything approaching a "huge" problem. Of course, we can make it into one if we want to.

:thumbsup2

Seriously, you don't think that would be humiliating for a young girl/preteen?

No more humiliating than having to do that in front of girls who are legitimately in there (in a doorless stall bathroom).

I am like FireDancer, apparently. I don't get what there is to be humiliated about. 50% of the population deals with "female" issues. And 100% of the population does "the other stuff" in the bathroom. I don't get what is to be embarrassed about??
