We are arriving Christmas day at the resort around 2pm.

Any hope of getting a spot for the top of the world lounge that late.

Anyone know how that works? Do you sign up or is it first come first serve?

thanks

Jim

There's a check-in desk in the first floor lobby of BLT. You go there, show them your BLT KTTW Card with DVC Member on it and they will escort you to an elevator that will take you to the 16th floor. The elevator requires a special keycard to enable the 16th floor button.

So its first come first serve. Once you in you leave at you own risk of not getting in?

How many are allowed in?

Want to be there for the fireworks....but I don't know of I want to be there for 5 hours.

then maybe go up at 7 or 8pm - instead of 5.

would definitely go up at least an hour before the fireworks.

Yes, once you leave you give up your spot. The lounge has a max capacity of 75 I believe but the deck can hold around 300. I have never seen near that many up there but I can't believe it would be very comfortable.

forgot last year one of the cm at the lounge was talking to me - he say both Halloween and thanksgiving - surprising were NOT crowded at the lounge or deck.

now since more DVC know about it - don't know if you will be lucky too.

forgot to ask this year if Christmas to NY was uncrowded.

I would go up at 5:00 and ask the CM's what kind of crowd are they expecting.

We have been up there several times on non holidays, and the place is almost empty until 15 minutes before the fireworks.

:earsboy: Bill

So it sounds like it rarely reaches capacity. Thanks for the info.

Jim

I have talked to the bar tenders at the ToTWL, and they said that they haven't YET had to turn ANYONE away because of capacity issues.

I wouldn't expect it to be a problem.

If you do go up there for fireworks, please get a drink at the lounge. If you enjoy it, please help support it to keep it there. Disney isn't obligated to keep it available to us.

I will have two!

We went up there just minutes before MK shows their Fantasy in the Sky fireworks the night before NYE & I was expecting it to be packed. The lounge itself was still half empty since many people just go up the viewing deck & don't go into the lounge & the observation deck still had plenty of spots for viewing. We spent quite a few nights that week at TOWL & my kids loved their flatbreads. I really hope it becomes more popular because we found most nights it was pretty empty.

We check-in to BLT on July 12th. I am sure that DH will be helping to support the lounge EVERY night that we are there. :rotfl:

The Top of the World deck was not crowded for this past New Years Eve. The crowd started building about 20m before midnight. By midnight there was a lot of people but no where near capacity. The lounge was fairly crowded but it was New Years Eve.....I wouldn't worry at all about getting up to the lounge......enjoy your trip....

That is good to hear. Our NYE plans are going to be Yachtsman followed by hanging at the Top of the World Lounge. Soooooo exciting!

I own at BLT, and just recently got back from an 8 night trip there. I went with a friend, and told him that because it was my DVC the only thing he had to pay for was his park tickets and his portion of the dining plan...I also told him he had to buy a drink (or three) from the lounge every night. He was A-OK with those terms. :thumbsup2

I did go myself every night except for 2... but those were MK EMH night's until 2 AM!! I just love me some Magic Kingdom at night :cloud9:
