Black Friday 2006 Buddies Needed for the Best Bargins Yet!!HOME FROM THE TRENCHES!

I have been going black friday with my mom and sister for at least the last five years and we love it. My sister and I usually shop with 6 kids between the two of us so black friday is like a vacation LOL. I will miss it this year since we are leaving for disney on black friday so I'm not that upset to miss it. Hopefully everyone will be in the stores and off of the roads.

I tend to get caught up in the moment and overspend, so it's important for me to stick to a list of sorts with wiggle room for those too good to pass up deals.

I frequent the BF boards and collect all flyers when they come out. I compile a list of the items I want and what store they are at. I have a handwritten list of items, price & store.

Items that are listed at Meijer I put in my cart at Walmart while everyone else is waiting in line for the gameboys, etc. Then I wait by the less popular door busters [coffee maker $5, etc.] and grab what I want and proceed to check out while it's deserted because everyone else is now running around frantic.

I then head over to Meijer and grab the items that were at Walmart [like Gameboy] and other items that might be left and buy them.

I also price match from Target or any other store flyer that has brands carried at either location.

I find that Kohls doesn't have many great deals. Those digital cameras, etc. that they have, I wouldn't want to buy.

Home Depot, Menards, Office Max & Staples are also on my list to hit.

Remember Walmart & Meijer will price match Best Buy too. So the videos and CDs can be purchased there.

Best Buy typically is a nightmare. People have had good luck online with Best Buy. I would like a new computer this year so I'm fearing the Best Buy issue and will be checking that out.

I purchased 80-90% of my Christmas on Black Friday last year.

I buy decorations, bath products, kid make-up kits, etc. the day after Xmas. The best deals I found were at Home Depot [Disney Xmas Trees, Ornaments, lights etc.] the day after and Target a couple days later [they mark them down each day].

FYI.... didn't read whole thread, this may be a repeat. But here is the link we all used last year for head's up on BF deals. Not sure how accurate, but last year, they were almost dead on. Have fun and good luck ( I will be!!).

This is the FIRST BF I've ever had to work. My stupid dermatology office is the ONLY one open in the entire company.

I hate my job.

My Wal-Mart is a 24 hour one that closes the night of Thanksgiving and reopens for black Friday. I want to say it's a short amount of time, like from midnight to 5am but that I guess that keeps people out of their way until they tear the plastic off the pallets.

I love black Friday, my mom and I tag team it. We make an ordered list, what do we want the most and she'll stay off to the side with the cart while I weave in and out of people. This is bad of me, but for extended family gifts (I have many branches due to divorce) I do duplicates. Last year I made movie baskets with the sale DVDs and fru fru popcorn and everyone seemed to like it. I figure they didn't know each other and I did put a lot of effort into it so it counts right?

I need a new TV around 25" (or bigger!). I am really hoping that Wal-Mart will have the same brand/models this year as Circuit City. Our CC is so small and the parking is awkward, I dread going there.

My goal this year is to buy everything Friday morning, take a big nap in the afternoon then wrap it all up that evening and actually enjoy the holiday! :thumbsup2

QUESTION FOR THE BLACK FRIDAY WALMARTERS:

When there is a 24 hour walmart how do you "line up" or whatever?

Question for anyone: best examples of crowd control that treat early arrivals fairly yet control the damages from the stampede?

In East TN, we use the hover/squash method. We get there an hour early and figure out which pallet holds what (its covered in heavy duty packing plastic). At 6:00am the squash starts, you slowly move forward, grab one more than you really wanted and pass it off to someone else as you work your way out to remove at least one person from the mess :)

Our WM could really benefit from having a better line system.

The one thing I think they do right. For the big ticket items that you need a truck, you get a numbered ticket, pay for it then pick it up later. They won't load big things for you that morning.

I love Black Friday. My family never went, but about 4 years ago, I went w my bf and uncle to Best Buy, we got great deals on computers, digital cameras, games, etc.

Last year, I went with my pseudo MIL and pseudo SIL (my BF's best friend's mom and BF's best friend's GF) and they want to go with me again. Last year, we did walmart at 4 am, followed up by the outlets (which offered a lot of pre 10 am deals) I spent close to 600 dollars, but got about 2000 worth of stuff - toys, clothes, appliances, etc - mostly Christmas and bday presents. The best part was that was a good chunk of my Christmas shopping and the rest of the season, I didn't have to worry about shopping - I actually sat in the mall and just had a cup of coffee and sat on a bench enjoying the decorations! :)

Anyway, I can't wait for this year. Sign me up!

I love this thread. I am soo in the Christmas spirit!
I need a new TV for the Living room and I want an Ipod, if I could get a new computer at the prices they had them last year at Best Buys I would love that!!!!!

I love Black Friday too. Last year some stores quit price matching. Target was one of them. Will Wal-mart still price match?

I had to get my kids the Gamecube bundle pack a few years ago, but I was just getting over the flu. I thought I was going to pass out in line at Best Buy, but no way was I going to leave that line after waiting over two hours! I wonder if people would have scooted me out of the way, or would they just have step over me? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Now I always bring a bottle of water, cough drops, and a snack just in case.

I was in the Pfaltzgraf store today near us and asked the manager if she tought they would do the 20bag deal again this year - she said they hadn't heard anything, but she didn't think so - she said they did it last year to clear out the warehouse - we can hope though!

I would have let you in front of me! I am into the black friday thing but not at the risk of having to help delivery a baby!

I can't remember, if this was discussed earlier in this thread. If it was, I apologize in advance.

Where do you find info on the Thanksgiving Day & Black Friday online sales? There's no way I'm joining the masses in the stores, but I could really get into shopping for great deals with just me & my Compaq. :teeth:

subscribing so I do not miss out..thanks for the great tips thus far!!!!!!

I wondering if the stores for Black Friday is offer laptops 200.00 or 300.00 dollars this year.

I am already seeing 400.00 to 500.00 dollars laptops on sale now. I wondering how low will they go for Black Friday.

I've heard that the "Black Friday equiv. online is "Cyber Monday". Basically, big chains hold sales on Friday am in the stores and whatever is leftover in their warehouses goes on sale online after they inventory thus "Cyber Monday". I've never done it personally, though.
