always outside.

Last year I wore two pairs of sweatpants.. a tshirt, hoodie and my three layer LL Bean coat.

I also wore two pairs of socks with my Lands end slip ons.

I never had to wait outside and I was still able to get all the doorbusters when the store opened :cool1:

I LOVE Black Friday! My BFF and I have made it our tradition since we learned to drive. :) Neither of us live in our old neighborhood anymore, but we're making plans to sleep at our parents' houses the night before so we can hit the road and be at our favorite shopping destinations at the crack of dawn. :) Can't wait till those deals start coming out!

Me me me

I cant wait for Black Friday!! Its one of my favorite days of the year :rotfl:

I have been going for the last 9 years that I can remember..

Count me in as one of the ones who is eagerly anticipating the black Friday deals. My SIL have now made it a tradition to do Black Friday! I'm really hoping for a deal on portable dvd player for our December trip this year. I have no idea what Santa is going to bring yet (other than a Disney mix stick for DS#2) so I have no idea what else we will be after.

We usually hit the stores that have something good but won't be so crazy that people are sleeping out at Midnight to get in on the deals (that means no Best Buy for us :sad2: )

I love Black Friday. But I don't really care about the bargains. For the last 10+ years, my nephew and I set out early in the morning to buy our own Christmas presents. No one else is allowed. I buy a present for me and he buys a present for him. If we happen to find something for someone else, we might pick it up. We don't care how long we have to wait in line (in fact we like grinning at the things that go on around us). We will wander around to see what the freebies are. We both have a huge collection of the JC Penney snowglobes. We then go out to breakfast and home to wrap our presents. The tags say, "To Me, From Me" and they are the last presents we open Christmas morning. He will be 19 this Christmas and has already reminded me that we have a date that day.

Great story! :) While you're out not buying anything in particular, want to shop for me? :teeth: I hate shopping, especially Black Friday & the day after Christmas. We (actually, I plan & my DH & DS follow) always plan a trip somewhere to be far away from the mania. At least, that's my story. :rolleyes1

Count me in too! I love the deals that you can get on Black Friday. I used to make dh take atleast a half days vacation. LOL about two years ago his company started giving everyone Black Friday off. I guess they finally realized that not much work was actually done. So now I have a babysitter! I will hit the stores early with my mom.

My son's b-day is on Nov. 28...so we celebrate it thanksgiving night since the whole family is together! Then my kids stay the night at my mom's house so i can head out really early on black friday! Last year I got to walgreen's at 5:20 am for a 6ft pre-lit xmas tree for only $19.99!!!! Then hightailed it to Lancaster, PA..about 45 minutes from my house. The pfaltzgraf outlet there has the best deal. The first 250 people in the door get a brown bag (grocery store size) you fill it with anything in the store that ends in a .99 and pay only $20 for the entire bag! I got this great knife set 63.99/ 5 glasses 7.99 each/ tart pans/ornaments/wall hangings/placemats...all kinds of stuff!!!!!

I hope they do it this year!!!! I got over $150 in retail value for only $20!

Hey thanks for that tip I didn't know phaltzcraft did that? I will have to check out my store in Flemington.

Bummer, the phaltzgraph store that was near us closed. I could do some serious damage there!

I love BF, although I don't always get to go. I hope this year I will have a game plan and be able to get out of bed and go play! :cheer2:

BF is a tradition for us. Me, my mom and my sister go out every year. We use www.gottadeal.com to get all out ads before time. So we know where we are going and what we are getting. Last year we were at Walmart at 3:00 and the line was still crazy. We took turns on the line and going to the car to keep warm. It was so cold. I'm thinking this year we will have to try the foot and hand warmers.

strategies:

Black Friday Strategies Summarized:

1) Simplest strategy is to make your plans in advance and get to the stores early in the morning.

Bring along a list of the Black Friday items you're interested in. Some families formulate a plan by dividing up to take advantage of promotions at different stores. Plan out your items and lists so that you can get in and out of the store quickly. Plan to get to the store early. Arriving at the store an hour or two in advance may help you get ahead in line. Try to get to the check out line as soon as you can. Lines can be long and you want to try to get to the next store on your list as soon as you can. Be aware of store hours and special promotions on Black Friday. Special sale promotions like "Doorbusters" and "Early Bird Specials" may start as early as 5am and last only a few hours.

2) Buy Online!

Many stores who participate in Black Friday sales offer similar promotions on their online websites.

3) Pricematch, Pricematch, Pricematch!!

Capitalize on a retailer's pricematch policy. This can save you extra trips to different stores on a busy shopping day like Black Friday.

4) Return and rebuy.

Buy the item in advance of the sale. Return the item to the store on Black Friday and then immediately rebuy it to take advantage of the new sale price. This may discouraged by some stores. So your experience may vary.

5) Camp out all night at the store.

If there is a deal you really can't afford to pass up on Black Friday, then you could beat others in line by camping out all night at stores. Although it could get fairly cold in some states.

Just a little Black Friday tip to share. I look at the ads early - thanks to all the internet leaks:). I buy the itmes the week before and then just bring them back to price match that morning - a whole lot easier then trying to fight with everyone and then not getting what you came for. I did ths last year at Best Buy and they were fine with it.

You have to be careful when doing this. Some stores will have the same item on Black Friday but with a different SKU number. They change the number just so that customers can not do this. They can be real sticklers about same brand, same item, same barcode.
