Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

So this morning the kids were talking about our trip to Spain next summer, which got me to thinking about the QOTD.

If you had the opportunity to travel, where would you go and what would you do?

*************

We are doing Spain next summer.
DD6 wants to go to Hawaii (DH and I used to live there) and Croatia.
DS10 wants to go to Tokyo.
DS11 wants to go to Belgium.
DS16 wants to go to UK and France
DH wants to go back to Petra, Jordan.
I want to see the Terracotta soldiers in China.

Congrats losers! 159 pounds is outstanding!:cool1:

For travel, send me to Hawaii or Austria!

I love flowers and history, and 'The Sound of Music!":artist:

Hi everyone! Back from vacation, such as it was... :) We survived our cruise debacle and had a really nice week at AKV/Jambo and the parks. We're just pretty tired from everything that went down with our having to leave the Dream, and so I don't feel at all relaxed coming off of this trip. :( We're working on a do-over cruise as a Christmas gift to the girls (and us!), and I'm really looking forward to going back.

We got home on Saturday, and I was so happy to see that I maintained! I left for the cruise below my goal, and while I gained 3-4 pounds over the whole trip, I'm still just below goal. :cool1: I ate well at WDW, but I had virtually no appetite when everything hit the fan on the cruise. So I made really good food choices because I knew I *had* to eat something to keep up my energy. The insomnia I had in Nassau probably didn't help, either...

I don't have a prayer of catching up on all the QOTDs, so I'll start fresh with the next one. :)

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Playing catch up here. That holiday in the middle of the week with 2 Mondays really messed things up. :rotfl:

Shawn, welcome home! Hope that you had a wonderful time on your trips. I enjoyed seeing the places that you were stopping.

Hang in there! I cannot tell you the number of times that I have had to grab myself and drag my behind back to the wagon. But as long as you NEVER GIVE UP you will continue to make progress -- even if some of it is a redo. :flower3:

Carol, glad that you had a good vacation. :goodvibes: Sorry that you came home to a mess. :flower3:

My long term goals are to run a half marathon and get down another 29 pounds to reach goal. My short term goals at to make my 10% goal by July 21st- only a few more pounds to go!!

You can do it! :cheer:

OK things I can do now. Well I have lost 35 lbs so far in last year, which I think is totally awesome, and I now get to buy clothes a size smaller. I got up courage to take lil princess swimming, first time in years I was in public in bathing suit. It was at nighttime, but I was out there. I havve a little more confidence now. As for goals, I want to get to onederland by end of year. I would like to go swimming in public during daytime LOL I want to be able to get a totally cute halloween costume so that lil princess and I can go to the MNSSHP in matching type outfits. Really long term, I don't want to ever become diabetic which I am at risk for since it runs on family.

Congrats! You've made some great progress! :thumbsup2

Tracey, glad that you are back and had a great time. Sorry about your dad. :flower3:

So today is Sunday. Our lazy day.

QOTDDo you have a lazy day at your house? If so what do you do or not do? If you don't, why not? Do you want one? Do you work out on your lazy day? Or do you take a rest day?

I do love to take Sundays off. I try to not even leave the house and do only the minimum I need to do to housework wise. I can usually persuade DH to do something on the grill. I've even been known to take a nap or take a break from the computer on Sundays. Your body and spirit need a rest sometimes.

Trina, just rest and take it easy and get better soon! :flower3: Everything else can wait.

Congrats to all our HH winners and participants! :yay: And :thanks: to CC for being our coach!

Sorry that I have been MIA all week. I just had to switch branches for work and there is no time to jump on the boards there. I will be on vacation this week, but as soon as I get back I will get back to reading on posting. Hope that everyone had a great holiday this week as well as a great weigh in!!!

Have fun on vacation! :beach:

Finally here with QOTD. I came here once already but ran out of time.

It's Monday, the holiday weekend is over, time to get back to a normal week.

What are your plans to keep or get back on track this week?

Quote of the Day
make today a day you are proud of

Here is a little sparkpeople article on just that subject that might help give us some ideas on what we need to do called 25 Ways to Get Back on Track Today http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_articles.asp?id=1062

I actually ate under my calories yesterday -- it was 2 calories but it was under so it counts! ::yes::

Wahoo! I get the HH prize this week. Thanks, CC.

Keep up the good work, everybody.

Congrats, Linda! :yay: Hope you are enjoying summer at last. :sunny:

BRB had a run in with the smilie police. :rotfl2:

Plans to keep on track: I have been doing steadily well since I began this journey on March 23. I plan to continue tracking, working out, and a positive mental attitude. I'm kind of annoyed that the scale is hovering up & down within a 2 lb range for near a week, so I need to keep positive & not get discouraged.

You're doing great! :thumbsup2 And a day that involves Ripped and Zumba doesn't sound like a lazy day to me. ;) Good job!

Well, based on the recommendation of a few fellow BLs, I ordered a pair of Merrell flip flops this morning. :thumbsup2 Since I can't give up flip flops completely, hopefully these will help keep the plantar fasciitis pain at bay.

Since I've had to cut down on my walking, I've been feeling kind of blah. So this morning (with their permission of course) I "snuck" into a friend's backyard and swam laps for 30 minutes in their inground pool. I'm not a great swimmer (I can't put my face/head in the water), but I managed to swim 25 laps (50 times back and forth). It was exhausting - I haven't done anything like that in a long time. It felt good though - I can really feel it in my arms.:cool1:

I'm going to try to do that every morning. Since I'm currently unemployed, it will also give me a reason to keep up with a routine.

I hope everybody is having a great day. :)

- Laura

Hope those Merrells help you recover more quickly. Swimming is a fun change! :fish:

OK where did that off topic smiley go??

:offtopic: oh here it is :offtopic:

OK so don't read all 3 Shades of Grey books AND go see Magic Mike while out of town with DH and all 3 kids in the same room ;) DH pouted all weekend because he was not able to "cash in" as he so eloquently put it :rotfl2::rotfl2:

:lmao:

Hi Pamela! :wave2: Nice to see you!

Congratulations to all our superstars and especially to our Biggest Loser, Sunny! :cool1:

Yeah for all of us!!!!
I find it funny that we are 38% done with challenge and I am 38% of the way to my goal!!!!!

You are so on track, girl! :cool2:

I counted every point and drank more water today than I did this weekend! Tomorrow is when the rest of it kicks in, I have a run AND my first kickball game tomorrow night- and the game is a double-header! I'm gonna get my booty kicked, that's for sure :faint: I might not be good for much of anything Wednesday...I guess we'll see!

Good luck! :cheer:

Kristina, enjoy your celebration tonight. :goodvibes

So this morning the kids were talking about our trip to Spain next summer, which got me to thinking about the QOTD.

If you had the opportunity to travel, where would you go and what would you do?

Go to Disneyland of course! :smickey: That is where I will be on Friday. :cool1:

But I don't think that is what you meant by your question. We have a big trip planned for next summer, too. We used three years of DVC points and are going on a 12 night Disney Mediterranean cruise. We leave from Barcelona, go to France, Italy, Croatia and Malta.

I would love to personally visit each and every Disney castle. princess:

Karen, if you are reading along post so we can have our celebration together tomorrow! :flower3:

Have a great day all!

Ireland, Paris top the list for me!!
Love to see the sites ( and DL Paris :thumbsup2 ).

So the one good thing about being at a baseball tourny all weekend in the 110 degree heat is that I had no appetitte and lost about 1.5 lbs :rotfl:
was afraid that it would be because of dehydration however all I did was drink water (my family of 5 went through 2 cases of water alone!!....of course my son was the catcher so he drank almost an entire bottle between innings!!)

Know lets hope I can just keep this up and not regain it!!!

I have read the first 2 books so far. Our book club picked this book for the month of July (I will miss it due to vacation). As I was reading the first book, my husband became very interested in what I was reading. :rotfl2:

I am able to swallow today a little better but food that is not popscicles or jello but I think im working towards feeling better.

My scale however is really frustrating me. It hasn't changed in 3 weeks. Not an ounce. I've even tried moving it but it won't budge! I haven't eaten solid food in 4 days so you'd think that would make a difference but nope.

So I guess when I finally get over this sickness I need to start thinking about my life and choices. It's time once again for big changes which is def going to mean more excersice. Right now that's hard to fathom because I feel so icky but it needs to happen

I just need to get better so I can get back on track.

:flower3: Glad you are feeling a little better.

Well.... happy bright and sunny MONDAY friends!

This is just a QUICK pop on to let you all know that I am alive and well and missing you all! Life is crazy busy right now and I truly haven't been able to make the time to be here. I need to make more of an effort this week. My last week has included a quick 48 hour trip to the Cape for the July 4th holiday, a swim meet, a full day of college visits in Rhode Island, and of course the usual of driving the kids here and there and everywhere (Driver's Ed, swim practice, paintball tournament). Throw in a bit of housework, laundry, doctor's appointment, grocery shopping, and you can probably see why I haven't had a minute to be here with you all!

Hoping you all are well and healthy and enjoying your summer. Tomorrow looks crazy again, but I am praying for a few hours at home to catch up with you all!.....TTYL..............................P

Pam, I was impressed how often you were getting on here with everything you were doing in the past few weeks. Good luck with your busy schedule!

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 5?

Have a healthy day!
Congratulations disappearing otter!!!

WAY TO GO EVERYONE! I will be taking my clippie off on the next posting. I was nice to wear it for the week. Keep up the great work!

Wow!!! I can't believe it! To be frank, I suspect the larger loss is due to my pal TOM leaving town....

I feel like a fraud because I haven't been able to get on the boards very often, but I try to check in at night for a few minutes to see how everyone is doing. Great work so far! I will "wear" the clippie with pride, and look forward to seeing who gets it next week!

Sunny

Way to go Sunny! :)

WOW!! I've never seen myself that close to #1 before!!

Sorry, I've not been around a lot lately. We had a busy weekend and I spent an hour playing phone tag with my new hematologist office. The great news is I have an apt on Thursday afternoon! I'm calling the RE's office Friday morning and hoping to get my apt in before we leave for Vegas Thursday night.

We're excited to celebrate our anniversary tomorrow. We've got reservations at the Hilton at Disney. We have dinner reservations at O'hanas. We'll hang out at Grand Floridian for part of the day. Then head over to the resort around 3pmish to get ready for our dinner reservation. Head over to the resort, have a drink or two, and then enjoy dinner. We'll play the rest of the evening by ear.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Have a wonderful anniversary dinner!

So this morning the kids were talking about our trip to Spain next summer, which got me to thinking about the QOTD.

If you had the opportunity to travel, where would you go and what would you do?

I would like to see Hawaii. I have never been there and it sounds wonderful. I would also like to visit Disneyland. I should start to look at a trip with both of these in mind.

Great job on the weight Liz ... but sorry about the vacation not going the way you planned it. :flower3: Luckily everyone in your family is doing well.

Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well! Just a quick post to let you all know we are back from Topsail Island :beach: and D.C. We had such a great vacation, but now back to reality. I didn't track any WW points while we were gone, and I did splurge (yummy sweet tea). I am happy to only be up 1.5 pounds. Yay! I ran 4 days while we were gone-once on a treadmill and the other 3 along the beach road. I wanted to run on the beach, but I went early am (6:00) and it was high tide. I didn't want to run on soft sand and get injured, so I stuck with the road.

Now that we are back, I am completely stressed & trying not to eat my life away. We got bad news from the bank about us trying to refinance (appraisal came in way below what we were expecting) and today the water heater started leaking all over the basement! We are going over our options for refinancing & getting the new roof, and DH has to look at the water tank when he gets home from clinicals.

I have to run and get the kids from camp, so I'll get back on later! I'm so happy to be back on the dis and seeing all those familiar usernames :)

Glad to see you back Jill! Your vacation sounds great. So sorry about the house issues. We refinanced a year ago and was shocked at our appraisal at the time too. We were still able to go through with the refinance ... but now think we should have waited a year. Who would have thought rates would ever be this low. Perhaps talk to another lender and see if they will work with you. Hope everything works out.

Last call for WIN numbers. I will be posting results tomorrow around 7 pm EST.

Just downloaded the disboards app. I am so excited.

I am closer to feeling better than i was yesterday! I can mostly eat solid foods again, I'm hoping my tomorrow my throat will be back to normal, than i just have to get rid of these cold sores!

I hope to do some workouts this week but im pressed for time, and i also need to go to the garden store and fix my plants somehhow. I've never planted anything, but i really wanted to, so a couple weeks ago I had two medium size pots, and in one i did some german thyme and oregano and the other some flowers and rosemary. These were already matured plant that i put in the pot, i look the other day and the rosemary and flowers have mushroms growing and are infested with flies! I look in my bag of soil which accidently got rained on and there are mushrooms growing there! Then we also planted some beans and basil in little cardboard containers (these were seeds, and they sprouted) and i looked tonight and they are infested with earwigs! I don't know what to do! So I'm going to try to go to the garden place friday or saturday and seek help!

I had some GREAT tours at work today, and one of them was a group of teachers who gave me a round of applause at the end of my tour! That just felt really great, especially since i want to be a teacher, must be doing something right. Tomorrow is 7am to 3pm at the job i hate and then spanish class. Then i get a few days off so that will be nice, but i really need to study for the Praxis. My boyfriend was getting so frustrated trying to teach me to do division last night. I havent dont diviision without a calculator since grade school. But I can read the hell out of a book, so i've got that going for me.

Allright better start winding down. its always weird being sick and then going back to the real world!

Good luck on your game tonight!!!!

Thanks!! We lost both of them...but we scored a run at least in the second game! The first game I played third base, the second I played pitcher. I like pitcher a lot more because it's a lot more active than third. Gotta earn those activity points!! :thumbsup2

If you had the opportunity to travel, where would you go and what would you do?

Paris, no question about it! I am really developing an obsession with the city and with France as a whole. It's my favorite country in Epcot, it's always so pretty in movies, and the music is so incredible. One day, I WILL go to Paris!!

If you had the opportunity to travel, where would you go and what would you do?

Paris, Rome, Greece, cruise anywhere, Hawaii, all the Disney properties. A girl can dream!

So this morning the kids were talking about our trip to Spain next summer, which got me to thinking about the QOTD.

If you had the opportunity to travel, where would you go and what would you do?

I think I would like to go to East Coast of USA and see all the historical sites. Like Washington DC, Philidelphia, Boston. I like American history. I would also like to visit Hawaii, and the trio of England, Ireland, and Scotland.

on another note wooohooo :cool1: I made the top 10 list.
Now just have to stay there. Right now at the point where it is losing novelty and becoming hard work again. Novelty as in totally fun starting the challenge, but now kinda not. I tend to do that, get all psyched up and do great at beginning, but then the newness wears off and it becomes a bit tedious. I need to find more inner inspiration.

well off to learn CPR yet again, is my renewal class today. At least all those chest compressions will burn calories and I get paid for it.

HI all,

Not much time to be on lately with all the chaos in my life and being busy at work. I took last night off as I didn't feel well. I took a nap in the afternoon and then dozed on the couch in the evening off and on. Ash got sick in the hallway at around 10 last night. She all of a sudden complained of a headache and said she felt sick. No other problems after that and seemed to sleep well. She has an orthodontist appt at 8:45 this morning. I just rented Journey 2 from Redbox so we will pick that up on the way to the appt. My head still feels fuzzy so we will skip visiting my dad today. I think Mom is going to take the girls on Friday to see him. Izzie has a follow-up with the plastic surgeon in the morning and then I have 4 straight massages to give and then I have one of my regulars scheduled for tomorrow night.

I've lost 2-3 pounds since being back. I ate a small pizza for lunch yesterday and then only had one hot dog without the bun and some fritos for supper. Just wasn't very hungry but always want spicy stuff when I have a cold. We had the salsa con queso with the fritos.

Time to get Ash moving so we won't be late. I think we will have a relaxing day watching movies and playing games. I really need a down day. I got really stressed at work right before I left when I noticed that my boss had scheduled me for 7 massages in one day. I got the other girl to do the night ones that day but I still have 5 straight without a break that morning.

TTFN :tigger:
