Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Sunday is definitely my rest day! I don't do much on my rest day besides a brunch sometimes, haha. Except for today- this afternoon was the first practice of the new kickball team I just joined! Turns out, I'm not half bad :) our first game is this Tuesday and it'll be a double header. If I get a team picture I'll be sure to post it :-)

********************
My butt was whooped yesterday! I did a six-mile run for the ToT last night before sundown, and finished in 1:15! I was pretty excited for my time, I think its right on cue with where I'm supposed to be.

Wow! That is awesome and I am so impressed. :cool1: That is quick too.

Sorry that I have been MIA all week. I just had to switch branches for work and there is no time to jump on the boards there. I will be on vacation this week, but as soon as I get back I will get back to reading on posting. Hope that everyone had a great holiday this week as well as a great weigh in!!!

It seems like summer is a tough time for everyone. We will see you back here after vacation! :beach:

Finally here with QOTD. I came here once already but ran out of time.

It's Monday, the holiday weekend is over, time to get back to a normal week.

What are your plans to keep or get back on track this week?

Quote of the Day
make today a day you are proud of

Catching up on QOTDs:

Things I couldn't do:
  • move much without being winded
  • be comfortable in seats at local theatre
  • feel confident
Things I can do:
  • exercise up to two hours in a row
  • feel better about myself
  • no longer prediabetic
  • shop in regular section (L/XL, 14/16)
Things I will be able to do:
  • run 5K
  • look & feel REALLY good
  • be fit & healthy
  • wear size medium and single digit pant size

Lazy day: I hardly ever have a lazy day. Saturday came close, I got up, went to RIPPED & Zumba, came home, showered, ate, read, had a friend stop by, then was invited to another friend's, so I put on a bit of make up & styled my hair, then went and hung out at her house. Other lazy days would entail cleaning the house, showering, but not getting ready, hanging out with kids. I don't work out every day, but typically 5 hours a week I do.

Plans to keep on track: I have been doing steadily well since I began this journey on March 23. I plan to continue tracking, working out, and a positive mental attitude. I'm kind of annoyed that the scale is hovering up & down within a 2 lb range for near a week, so I need to keep positive & not get discouraged.

Boy, it has been a quiet couple of days. I can actually come in on a weekday...my boss is out today ;).

I'm back!
Cruise was amazing! Especially the food! Absolutely loved our server and assistant server! Too much to do on the cruise so we will have to go again! LOL!
I gained about 7 pounds over the 12 days we were away but with the 13 massages I am giving this week that should come off quickly as long as I can control what I'm eating! I've given 5 since I've gotten back.
Had a good but stressful week at Disney. The day we got off the ship I had 4 text messages from my sister about my dad. While driving to WDW I got another saying my mom was calling 911 as he was in a lot of pain. Apparently when he fell at my house the day before we left he broke a bone in his lower back. He had been to the ER while visiting my brother too. He is now in a rehab facility trying to walk again and do daily things. He has been having some memory issues as well. He was very confused the other night and called us twice asking where his car was and his clothes. I saw him a few hours on Friday afternoon after work. I had to work yesterday so my mother went down. My brother came down from VT to see him. Today my mom and Ashleigh are visiting him after church. Ash brought Yahtzee and another game to play with him. They are working on his fine and gross motor and playing games helps him. He is doing PT and OT and we were there during the sessions on Friday and participated in the OT session. He is also working with a speech therapist who specializes in Parkinson's patients. She is wonderful as are the PT and OT. I will go down tomorrow with Izzie for a bit. We don't want to overwhelm him with too many people. He tires easily. My mom and I are going to alternate days the beginning of the week as I have 5 clients each on Tuesday and Thursday and then 3 on Friday. I've taken next weekend off as we were supposed to do family things.
Not leaving the house today! I woke up with a headache and sore throat but am feeling better now. I'm watching Wimbledon and catching up on things. I may not even get dressed as I am physically and emotionally drained!
Having taco salad for supper today. It's just Brian, me and Izzie today so we will have something light for lunch.
Downloaded our photos from the trip last night and there were over 1800 plus some videos. I need to sort through them and delete bad ones and put them on our digital frame!
Time for some more water now! Izzie finally got up about a half hour ago so I think we will have some snuggle time too. She doesn't get much alone time with us so we're going to play some Wii later. She wants to do tennis since we are watching Wimbledon! It's getting her in the mood!
TTFN :tigger:

Welcome back! Boy you jumped in with both feet from vacation. I did the same thing, but with the crazy vacation we took I had to get to work to take a rest!
Glad your dad is being taken care of. It's really hard.
Nice to snuggle with your little one. I get hugs from my boy now, but snuggles ended a long time ago.

So today is Sunday. Our lazy day.
QOTD
Do you have a lazy day at your house? If so what do you do or not do? If you don't, why not? Do you want one? Do you work out on your lazy day? Or do you take a rest day?
Quote of the Day
the trick is to enjoy life, don't wish away your days waiting for better ones ahead

I usually spend one day catching up on laundry because I hate doing it during the week. So the other day of the weekend it usually lazy. This weekend was a bonus since I had done the laundry on Wednesday after we got back so I only did a couple of loads late at night when it wasn't as hot out. Caught up on the boards, went to see Brave with DS (OK, not as good as I thought it would be - love listening to her talk tho). It was too hot to do anything outside, and even with airconditioning too hot too do much of anything. Since we got back, not a lot to do. So on the non-laundry day it our lazy day, but still do little chores. I just get some more time for reading or going online. Once I start exercising again, I usually don't do it on lazy days, unless it is going out to geocache or something. That's fun to do with the bonus of exercise.

Still sick. I started the antibiotic despite having not had the strep test because it was just getting worse but so far not feeling better. I've only taken 2 doses so far though. At this point my symptoms are sore throat, slight stomach ache (after I started antibiotic), headache, cancor sores, itchy ears, and what I think are cold sores in the corners of my mouth but I'm not sure if that's exactly what it is. Plus it's that TOM. Ugh!
I've pretty much stayed in bed for days. Tomorrow I'm off but I do have school and then tuesday it's back to work so hopefully I start to feel better by then. I hate being sick and my mom is of course mad at me that I haven't been at work. This from the woman who calls out all the time.
Sorry don't mean to complain. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm still alive.

Sorry you are still feeling bad. It sounds like it really hit you hard. I hope it is something the antibiotic can take care of, another day it usually will kick in. Rest when you can and take care.

Finally here with QOTD. I came here once already but ran out of time.

Back at work and it cooled off. Much easier to stay OP plan at work, as I bring all my food, and nobody has brought in donuts today!

Wish I could do what my DS does! He went out and ran 10 miles this morning! It is really quiet amazing what he (and all you other runners) do. I think I would enjoy running, but even with my recent round of shots my knees can't handle it. And then again, I really don't like the humid summers in this neck of the woods (I'm from Wisconsin originally), so reluctant to get outside much when it is sticky.

Carol

Well, based on the recommendation of a few fellow BLs, I ordered a pair of Merrell flip flops this morning. :thumbsup2 Since I can't give up flip flops completely, hopefully these will help keep the plantar fasciitis pain at bay.

Since I've had to cut down on my walking, I've been feeling kind of blah. So this morning (with their permission of course) I "snuck" into a friend's backyard and swam laps for 30 minutes in their inground pool. I'm not a great swimmer (I can't put my face/head in the water), but I managed to swim 25 laps (50 times back and forth). It was exhausting - I haven't done anything like that in a long time. It felt good though - I can really feel it in my arms.:cool1:

I'm going to try to do that every morning. Since I'm currently unemployed, it will also give me a reason to keep up with a routine.

I hope everybody is having a great day. :)

OK where did that off topic smiley go??

:offtopic: oh here it is :offtopic:

OK so don't read all 3 Shades of Grey books AND go see Magic Mike while out of town with DH and all 3 kids in the same room ;) DH pouted all weekend because he was not able to "cash in" as he so eloquently put it :rotfl2::rotfl2:

OK so now back to our regularly scheduled discussion :) Huge project finally complete at work so I have a little free time to play...

Have really been focusing on my eating habits and it has been paying off as I continue to see a downhill trend (though never as fast as I would like)....now I just need to get up and work out more often. Still focused on looking and feeling better for my CA trip in Sept.
Things had gotten realy HOT here over the past week that even working out in the house was unbearable (how do they do those yoga classes in the heated rooms is beyond me!)

Hope to really get back on track with you guys as well.... have been sifting through pages and pages of posts instead of my overflowing inbox for work :crazy2:

Hope everyone is having a great OP day! Can't wait to catch up with everyone again.....

I am able to swallow today a little better but food that is not popscicles or jello but I think im working towards feeling better.

My scale however is really frustrating me. It hasn't changed in 3 weeks. Not an ounce. I've even tried moving it but it won't budge! I haven't eaten solid food in 4 days so you'd think that would make a difference but nope.

So I guess when I finally get over this sickness I need to start thinking about my life and choices. It's time once again for big changes which is def going to mean more excersice. Right now that's hard to fathom because I feel so icky but it needs to happen

I just need to get better so I can get back on track.

Well.... happy bright and sunny MONDAY friends!

This is just a QUICK pop on to let you all know that I am alive and well and missing you all! Life is crazy busy right now and I truly haven't been able to make the time to be here. I need to make more of an effort this week. My last week has included a quick 48 hour trip to the Cape for the July 4th holiday, a swim meet, a full day of college visits in Rhode Island, and of course the usual of driving the kids here and there and everywhere (Driver's Ed, swim practice, paintball tournament). Throw in a bit of housework, laundry, doctor's appointment, grocery shopping, and you can probably see why I haven't had a minute to be here with you all!

Hoping you all are well and healthy and enjoying your summer. Tomorrow looks crazy again, but I am praying for a few hours at home to catch up with you all!.....TTYL..............................P

Tell me about it!!
DS16 ran 6 this morning and has another 5 tonight. He's aiming for the 400 mile club this summer. He loves it, I'm in the like it club. I like running but I hate sweating!

You'll be back on track soon.

Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge Week 5!
This week’s group loss = 12.0 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.15 %
Total group weight loss so far 159.2 pounds!

AWESOME!

Retention Rate (compared to the 58 participants we had sign up for our start week on June 1st)
78% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 5?

NOW FOR THOSE OF US WHO SET A GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE!!!

NOTE: This list includes participants who have reported in within the last 3 weeks, once someone misses 3 weigh-ins they are dropped from this report.

How this works: You set your goal for what you want to lose in the challenge. Then I calculate your weight loss in the challenge divided by your goal to get a % to goal.

Anybody can change their goal at anytime (or add a goal) – all you have to do is send me a PM.

Since the goals are an individual thing, the list is just in alphabetical order to make it easier for everybody to find their own name. If there are any questions or suggestions please let me know.

We have done 5 out of 13 weeks, so the challenge is 38% complete.

Way to go losers!!!!!

Sadly I was one of those who didn't report in this week. I'm having scale and flooring issues. I've noticed that where I put my scale in the bathroom, the tiles are swollen. They are vinyl tiles so I'm not sure if it's from the heat and humidity.
I'm going to bring the scale to the kitchen this week and see what it says there. Just need to remember to come down in my PJ's.

I'm gonna get my booty kicked, that's for sure :faint: I might not be good for much of anything Wednesday...I guess we'll see!

WOW!! I've never seen myself that close to #1 before!!

Sorry, I've not been around a lot lately. We had a busy weekend and I spent an hour playing phone tag with my new hematologist office. The great news is I have an apt on Thursday afternoon! I'm calling the RE's office Friday morning and hoping to get my apt in before we leave for Vegas Thursday night.

We're excited to celebrate our anniversary tomorrow. We've got reservations at the Hilton at Disney. We have dinner reservations at O'hanas. We'll hang out at Grand Floridian for part of the day. Then head over to the resort around 3pmish to get ready for our dinner reservation. Head over to the resort, have a drink or two, and then enjoy dinner. We'll play the rest of the evening by ear.

I hope everyone has a great week!

QOTD: What are your plans to keep or get back on track this week?

Eating healthier, continuing to hit my water intake, and focus on more cardio this week. I didn't do a whole lot last week.

Wow!!! I can't believe it! To be frank, I suspect the larger loss is due to my pal TOM leaving town....

I feel like a fraud because I haven't been able to get on the boards very often, but I try to check in at night for a few minutes to see how everyone is doing. Great work so far! I will "wear" the clippie with pride, and look forward to seeing who gets it next week!
