Are you related to someone famous?

I'm not, but my supervisor's second cousin is Michael McDonald form the Doobie Brothers.

Reminds me of one of our friends. Her second cousin is Scott Baio (I think I spelled it right, fingers haven't been working too good today).

My great great(etc.) grandfather was Grover Cleveland.

That's so cool! Which of his children are you a descendent of?

My father's uncle invented the technology that is used in pacemakers. I don't know his name or what exactly he invented, but they are filthy stinkin rich. Had I known this when I met them when I was 13, I would have been a lot less rude!

My husband is related to Doc Holliday. My grandpa was related to either Clarence Darrow or William Jennings Bryan. I can't remember. I'll have to ask my mom.

My great x ? grandfather is Meriweather Lewis of Lewis and Clark. And my great x ? uncle is Admiral Halsey.

Dh is related to some president from the 20's whose name escapes me right now...

I'm a direct descendant of both Adams presidents. My grandmother was able to trace our family tree back a little further than that, but they are by far the most notable. That also makes me very distantly related to Sam Adams, but unfortunately I get no free beer out of the deal. ;)

Also, my first cousin is a correspondent for NPR, but not really *famous*.

John Kerry
My mothers maternal grandmother comes from a very old family that came to the US back when it was the Massachusets Bay Colony. We have a muesum up in Connecticut called the Denison Homestead because the family was very important to the area.John Kerry is also related to G.W. Bush but on a differnt side of the family, so not related to me.

Cool. My husband is somehow related to Clark. :)

Yes, if you're a beer drinker. :teeth:

John F Trommers Brewing

Once again we have the story of a German immigrant who sailed to America and became a giant. of the brewing industry (I'm sensing a pattern here). John F. Trommer immigrated from Hersfeld, Germany in the 1840s and settled in Portland, Maine where he worked in a small ale brewery. He eventually moved to Boston and worked in several breweries there. He moved to Brooklyn's Bushwick district where a number of breweries were congregated at some point and became brewmaster for William Ulmer. By the late 19th century there were 58 breweries in a 12 block stretch of road in this area along what was called "Brewer's Row." In 1897 Trommer bought an interest in a new company called Stehlin & Breitkopf and soon changed the name to J.F. Trommer's Evergreen Brewery. John Trommer didn't have time to enjoy his success, however, as he died in 1898 and his son George Trommer took over the brewery.

John Trommer would have been my great-great-grand uncle. George was my great grandmother's brother. He sold out to Piel's in the 1950's.

Eh, the husband is sort of famous too. He was the world's record holder in the hammer throw back in the 1950's.

All About The Husband
:teeth:

On my father's side:
John Champman - aka Johnny Appleseed
I don't know if I want to mention this one or not -- Henry VIII

My DH is related to Robert de Bruce on his mother's side.

Princess Di, distantly.

Lots of Scottish Royalty actually.

well not famous per se but historically important....On my williamson side we directly (through grandparent line)go back to William the Conquer (cha!). In this line we have relatives that fought in the Revolutionary war including time as a POW, that started the Ohio branch of the underground RR, that created the Lakota alphabet and dictionary still used today.
In another branch we go back directly to Sir Issac Newton, John Newton who wrote "Amazing Grace" and his daughter Lucy Newton ( who married into the family) who was the first lady "Lemonaide Lucy".

Not really related, but my grandma was very good friends with Burl Ives (who played the snowman on the Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV special) back before he was famous. Apparently she road on his tour bus quite a bit. And to prove it, she even showed me an old picture of the two of them, back when he was know as "Fats".

I'm not related to anyone famous that I know of... some of my distant relatives fought in John Hunt Morgan's "Morgan's Raiders" and I think there are some other historical figures in the family tree.

Far cooler than that, LOL... my aunt graduated from high school with Nick Clooney, Rosemary's brother (and George's dad :teeth: ) and my husband's pastor's sister is Naomi Judd.

Bob Eubanks. I never met him but my brother did :) at a family reunion that i could not go to due to my job. :(

Jodi Sweeten, shes a distant cousin. {Full House}
