Are you related to someone famous?

I really don't know whether or not I'm related to anyone famous. :confused3

One of my great-uncles was a moonshiner during prohibition, though. Does that count? :p

My uncle is a song writer in Nashville - and has songs with Tim McGraw, Lee Greenwood and Phil Vasser....

has a new one coming out, but can't remember what group...

....my gma was Walt Disney's personal cook/chef in Kansas City...does that count?

And my OTHER gma's former school teacher was ALSO Walt's teacher as a child.

I go back to The Mayflower and George Washington. Don't know all of the details. My Aunt had our family tree done professionally when I was a child. Maybe I'll email her.

Oliver-Hazard Perry. My maiden name is Hazard. Maybe I'm related to The Dukes of Hazzard !!! LOL

Bobby Helms who wrote and sang "Jingle Bell Rock". Related on my dads side somehow. Thats the closest I get to fame.

Alexander Graham Bell is a however many great unlce of mine...no clue how many, just now it is on my Grandmothers side. There are tons of Alexanders all named after him. It stopped with her father. But my DS#2 will be Brady Alexander, after my greatgrandfather...and technically after Alexander Graham Bell. I know her grandparents still had the bell last name, and it was her moms maiden name. She called her grandparents Ma Bell and Pa Bell.

John Adams on my mom's side and Herman Melville on my dad's. Also, not universally famous but my great, great grandfather was Leonard Destin who founded the town of Destin,Fl and my distant grandfather Daniel Melvin was captured and held as a cabin boy by Blackbeard.

My husband's uncle (and godfather) is Bucko Kilroy - he played for the Philadelphia Eagles in the late 40's when they won a championship. He later went to Dallas and helped develop the system used for drafting players. After Dallas it was on to New England in management.

Needless to say my family is now glued in front of the TV (it's Christmas Night) watching the Eagles play the Cowboys.

Merry Christmas everyone.

My Grandfather invented the Philip's head screw...back then he got 25 dollars for this and my Mother said that they all celebrated by having ice-cream that night. If you go into the Worcester Historical Museum it says Reed and Prince invented this...Grampy did they get credit, lol. Oh how things have changed! I think I still have one of his prototypes in my cellar.

Jodi Sweetin, shes a distant cousin. {Full House}

That is so cool...my kids love her and I watched her recently as a grown-up discussing her addiction to meth. She is a professional through and through.

On my father's side:
John Champman - aka Johnny Appleseed
I don't know if I want to mention this one or not -- Henry VIII

My DH is related to Robert de Bruce on his mother's side.

Wow!! After reading all the Phillipa Gregory novels and everything else I can get my hand on about the Tudors, I have to ask how you are related? He was one he** of a man, and not necesarily in a good way. His wives might as well of gotten their death certificates at the same time as their marriage licences!! Very interesting history. Amy

Definitely not someone famous, but my great grandfather was James T Kelly....he was one of the founders of the IBEW (International Brothehood of Electriclal Workers). I believe it's the largest union in the world.

He was a man of great integrity, loved and respected. When the union was floundering, he put a second mortgage on his house, to support it.

When I was a kid, we went to the national offices in Washington DC and got to see the archives. The original membership book was there, and colored on, thanks to my mom, who was raised by her grandmother (James wife) until her death when my mom was 10. It was fun to see that.

When the union had their 100 year anniversary, all of James grandkids were invited to it....my parents went. My Uncle Jack (the last surviving child of James) wanted so much to attend. Sadly, he died in August, 1991, just months before the anniversary celebration.

There, I'm sure that's more info than anyone ever wanted to know!!!

Amelia Earhart was a distant cousin of mine. Willa Cathers (author) is also a cousin (my great-grandmother's first cousin).

Not that I am aware of....but ya know...six degrees of separation. Who knows

Myst

Only by marriage. DH's family is connected to Edith Wilson and I've heard mention of Katie Holmes, though I haven't had the chance to track that one down yet!

Well, a relative by marriage was in prison for awhile. His name was in the local paper, does that make him famous?

Glad he has a different last name.

I'm related to Elizabeth Taylor--IIRC, her mother and my great-grandmother were cousins, and yet she never calls, never writes... ;)

Not related but my dad grew up on the same street as actor John Aniston (Jennifer Aniston's dad). Although he was born in Greece his family relocated to Eddystone, Pennsylvania. His bios often refer to Chester PA but it was actually the burrough of Eddystone. Anywho, my Grandma and her friends always called him "Little Johnny from down the street" and they watched him faithfully on all his daytime TV roles. I remember the rowhouse his mom lived in by herself for many years. My Grandpa, who was the mayor for many years, used to stop by and check on her sometimes.

I am VERY distantly related to Neil Armstrong and a direct descendent from the boats that arrived right after the Mayflower (can't remember the name).
