Are we there yet? Can we eat yet? YES to both!

Isn't Test Track just awesome? It's such a clever ride - we love it!

We also like Nemo, but we have a 3 year old. :rotfl: However, I do like the EAC scene and singing at the end. He he. ;) Did you check out all the aquariums? They are really beautiful!

I hope you enjoyed 'Ohana, we've only eaten there once, but I ate myself silly!

Can't wait to read about Ohana. I really want to eat there too. All the pictures I have seen of it always look so good!

I'm joining!

That chocolate peanut butter cup looks amazing! You're not the only person that I've seen post about it, and now I need to make it a point to go and try it!

Can't wait to hear more.

Hello Everyone! I'm watching the Saints kick butt!
I typed my Ohana review in Word, at work, so I'll post it first thing in the morning...

You sound like me the first time I rode Test track...in 2001 we were standing outside under the ramp and I was like NO WAY! and each time I rode it, it was broken so the ride outside was sooooooo slow!!! Last year was the first time I was able to ride it at full speed...I can't believe I have the need to hold on but I love it! Ashton on the other hand was not so sure...

I love how you guys are making the best of all the transportation (at least J & D) we do things like that on purpose!

can't wait to hear what you guys thought of Ohana's, I want to try their breakfast next go round

great picture of you with the kids!!
:wave2: Connie

I want to try the breakfast too! I love the part of test track when it looks like you are going to hit the big truck! Everyone always screamed, even if it wasnt their first time!

That's awesome that you ended up liking Test Track after all, and great pics with the vehicles afterwards.

I hope you guys enjoyed Ohanas...that's one of my faves on the entire property:goodvibes

Oh, we were drooling over those cars! Jacob especially loved the Cadillac, i think it was a CTS?

Can't wait to read your Ohana review! We are doing the DDP for the first time and Ohana is our "welcome" meal on our first night. I'm sure anything will taste good when we're riding the first-day-at-disney-high! :)

It was our first time with the DDP too, and I don't know if I can do without it now!

I did like the aquariums, especially when we were in Coral Reef. We ate ourselves silly at Ohana too!!

Can't wait to read about Ohana. I really want to eat there too. All the pictures I have seen of it always look so good!

I'd like to see what the view is during the day, so I'm going to book a breakfast next time, I think..

I'm joining!

Welcome! Oh boy... now I have that cupcake on my mind!! :lmao:

I'm still here. I had to wrap up my TR from September and now catching up on all the others I follow. Your pics at the Studios and Epcot are great. Sorry the pool was closed that early morning you got up.

Jacob and Deshea broke up over the weekend.. it was very unexpected, they had been together for over a year and a half. Teenagers, huh? :sad2:

Ohana in next post..

Ohana in next post..

Sorry to hear they broke up. Can't wait to read your Ohana review. We go to Ohana every trip and we thought it was really good this time. We always enjoy it but this time the food seemed like it was just cooked and not sitting in the back waiting to go out.
YAY Saints!!! I took my middle son to the game yesterday. We had a blast.

I bet y'all were cold though!!! WHO DAT!

OMG!!!! I'm gonna be nosey...who broke up with who?

He broke up with HER.. via TEXT. :scared1: Boys suck.

Oh no! I hate to hear that.

Me too... Right before Christmas... :sad1:

Deshea and I met the guys at the boat launch. I had never visited any of the deluxe resorts, and was hyped about getting my first look at the Poly. A boat had just emptied when we walked up, and Chris and Jacob were just getting there too. I didn’t take any pics from here until we got to Ohana, bc it was dark, and well, my camera is old and doesn’t take good nighttime pics.

The boat ride was really nice. There weren’t a lot of people on it, and I sat back against Chris and just enjoyed the ride. I was almost sad to get off the boat.

We went in and wandered about a bit, just taking it all in, because we were almost an hour early. We checked in at the podium and they gave us a buzzer, and said to have a seat in the waiting area (which is really nice, by the way). After about 20 mins, Chris decided to have one of these…. After seeing someone else with one.

He said it was really tasty! I don't drink, so I didn't taste it, but Jacob did. He LOVED it. Teenagers, right?

Almost immediately afterwards, our buzzer went off. We went up to the podium and a VERY nice hostess took us past the kitchen and all, and told Jacob he had the honor of carrying the welcome bread. We were sat at a round table, one row off the windows, but there was a huge tree in our view, so we didn’t see much. I like the atmosphere in here, all the wood, the table linens, the open kitchen, etc.

Soon a different waitress came to take our drink order. I’m missing some of my pics here for some reason, so I’ll just have to wing it.

We ate the welcome bread while waiting.. It was good, but could have used a bit of butter.

Soon, we got the salad.. Now, THIS was delish. I can’t wait to try to duplicate this dressing at home. They called it Honey Lime, I think. It doesn’t look impressive, but it does something to lettuce that is just… awesome.

About ten minutes later we got these:

Broccoli and Carrots

IMG_3320.jpg

Wings and Pot stickers

IMG_3323.jpg

And some sort of noodle.

We also got three sauces, my picture is missing. There was Sweet and Sour, Hot Mustard, and Peanut Sauce… The peanut sauce… OMG.. I could have dumped it on my napkin and ate it. I would put this sauce on nearly anything! I would bathe in this stuff. Ok, I guess that’s enough of that right there… I don’t do sweet and sour, but the Hot Mustard was good. But oh, did I mention the peanut sauce??? The pot stickers were excellent! I wish I had some right now.

Ok, Ok. The broccoli was just right, even Deshea ate some. Jacob and Chris ate all the wings up, I tried one, dipped in peanut sauce, of course! It was tasty, but I’m really particular about wings, so I just had the one. The noodles were the same ones you would get at any Chinese take out place, but tasty.

Then they brought the meat out. This is ANOTHER instance of pics gone missing. I’m sure all of you have seen enough pics to know what it looks like though. Jacob was tickled at the way they serve, off the big skewers! The steak was sooooo good, it was tender and juicy and flavorful.. As was the pork. The chicken was just chicken, didn't seem seasoned, but with peanut sauce, way enhanced!!! I don't eat shrimp, but Chris and Jacob ate A LOT of them.

When we were properly stuffed, came the moment I had been waiting for.. the Pineapple Coconut Bread Pudding. This is funny, bc I hate pineapple and coconut. However… THIS STUFF..

IMG_3327.jpg

… was really good… I don't know that I would have liked it so much without the caramel banana sauce, but there you have it. I ate 5 or 6 bites, bc I was so full of peanut sauce, and called it quits.

Something I really liked.. warm wet towels with lemon slices brought to the table for cleaning up… Very nice touch…

We rolled out of there, trying to figure out what to do next…

LOOks! and sounds yummy...we will def. have to give it a try next go round! I think dinner and breakfast might be called for...

sorry to hear about the kids! and I hate cell phones and that is just one more reason why! My dgt moved out and instead of calling once a day she texts me 20X's a day... I have to call her, She told me I am talking to you I send you text. Our society is becoming less and less personable.
:wave2: Connie
Have a great day! and enjoy the beautiful cold weather

Sorry about the breakup; sometimes I think it is harder on us parents (our oldest, who will be 25 in February, broke up with his gf of over 18 months last year; he then was stupid and did it on my driveway and she came running into the house to me sobbing). You become attached to them when they are always around.

Your review of Ohana looks great.

Just found your trip report today, and am enjoying reading it. Thanks for sharing the great photos. Ohanas sounds like a really nice meal. Looking forward to the rest of your trip. :cool1:

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about the breakup! And over TEXT? :sad2: Ugh...Boys.

Wonderful update on Ohana though! I wasn't all that excited about our ADR there since we have ate there before, but your update made me excited about it again. I forgot about the atmosphere of the restaurant and those pot stickers....:cloud9: Even if I just eat those, I'll be good.

We love the dressing of the salad at Ohana too. We had seconds and thirds when we visited last May. :) Soooo yummy.
I have a recipe for the dressing and I have tried it at home a couple of times with great success!

OHANA Honey Lime Salad Dressing:
1/2 cup honey
1 teaspoon dried mustard
1teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup diced onion
1 cup canola oil

Place all ingredients (except oil) in food processor and blend until smooth;
Slowly add oil until it is well incorporated into dressing.

Hope you enjoy it!

I'm so glad to read another great review of Ohanas. We have reservations there next May and, after looking at your pictures, I'm even more excited.

YUM!!! That food looks so good. I'm so glad that the meal was great. I really want to go there too.
