Deshea and I met the guys at the boat launch. I had never visited any of the deluxe resorts, and was hyped about getting my first look at the Poly. A boat had just emptied when we walked up, and Chris and Jacob were just getting there too. I didnt take any pics from here until we got to Ohana, bc it was dark, and well, my camera is old and doesnt take good nighttime pics.
The boat ride was really nice. There werent a lot of people on it, and I sat back against Chris and just enjoyed the ride. I was almost sad to get off the boat.
We went in and wandered about a bit, just taking it all in, because we were almost an hour early. We checked in at the podium and they gave us a buzzer, and said to have a seat in the waiting area (which is really nice, by the way). After about 20 mins, Chris decided to have one of these
. After seeing someone else with one.
Lapu Lapu
He said it was really tasty! I don't drink, so I didn't taste it, but Jacob did. He LOVED it. Teenagers, right?
Almost immediately afterwards, our buzzer went off. We went up to the podium and a VERY nice hostess took us past the kitchen and all, and told Jacob he had the honor of carrying the welcome bread. We were sat at a round table, one row off the windows, but there was a huge tree in our view, so we didnt see much. I like the atmosphere in here, all the wood, the table linens, the open kitchen, etc.
Soon a different waitress came to take our drink order. Im missing some of my pics here for some reason, so Ill just have to wing it.
We ate the welcome bread while waiting.. It was good, but could have used a bit of butter.
Soon, we got the salad.. Now, THIS was delish. I cant wait to try to duplicate this dressing at home. They called it Honey Lime, I think. It doesnt look impressive, but it does something to lettuce that is just
awesome.
About ten minutes later we got these:
Broccoli and Carrots
Wings and Pot stickers
And some sort of noodle.
We also got three sauces, my picture is missing. There was Sweet and Sour, Hot Mustard, and Peanut Sauce
The peanut sauce
OMG.. I could have dumped it on my napkin and ate it. I would put this sauce on nearly anything! I would bathe in this stuff. Ok, I guess thats enough of that right there
I dont do sweet and sour, but the Hot Mustard was good. But oh, did I mention the peanut sauce??? The pot stickers were excellent! I wish I had some right now.
Ok, Ok. The broccoli was just right, even Deshea ate some. Jacob and Chris ate all the wings up, I tried one, dipped in peanut sauce, of course! It was tasty, but Im really particular about wings, so I just had the one. The noodles were the same ones you would get at any Chinese take out place, but tasty.
Then they brought the meat out. This is ANOTHER instance of pics gone missing. Im sure all of you have seen enough pics to know what it looks like though. Jacob was tickled at the way they serve, off the big skewers! The steak was sooooo good, it was tender and juicy and flavorful.. As was the pork. The chicken was just chicken, didn't seem seasoned, but with peanut sauce, way enhanced!!! I don't eat shrimp, but Chris and Jacob ate A LOT of them.
When we were properly stuffed, came the moment I had been waiting for.. the Pineapple Coconut Bread Pudding. This is funny, bc I hate pineapple and coconut. However
THIS STUFF..
was really good
I don't know that I would have liked it so much without the caramel banana sauce, but there you have it. I ate 5 or 6 bites, bc I was so full of peanut sauce, and called it quits.
Something I really liked.. warm wet towels with lemon slices brought to the table for cleaning up
Very nice touch
We rolled out of there, trying to figure out what to do next
