I haven't heard from Bev either; hope she's OK.

I was just looking at our itinerary again. I know many of you have noted that our day on Oahu was extended to 10:30 p.m. I can't help but wonder if they're planning on setting up an excursion to Aulani for a luau or something like that. I bet that would sell out fast! The DCL site is still not showing any kind of excursions for us :sad2:. Boy, I wish we could see what will be offered.

I called Aulani to see if they had day passes to use the facilities. NOPE. You have to get a room. I asked if they had luaus. NOPE. They have a gathering with music but no food some nights. Luaus are down the street at Paradise Cove.....I think she said. I'm hoping that Disney does an excursion there like they do with Atlantis. They HAVE TO!!! And we'll just go down the block to the luau.

I did a AAA rate. $117 a night including taxes. Don't know if that is good or not but I like the hotel.

I'm there for one night before and one night after cruise. I'm paying AAA rates at $111 before and $134 after. So you did good. I still have to add on taxes, fees, etc.

I thought I had posted that they don't do luaus because they are 'good neighbors with Paradise Cove'. Anyway, sorry, I knew that from when our news team was over there for the grand opening. Still holding out hope that DCL will plan some kind of excursion/event for us that we book through the ship.

There are SO MANY PEOPLE :goodvibes
with
SO MANY GOOD IDEAS :thumbsup2

::yes:: I hope everyone is writing to DCL on their CONTACT US option at the bottom of the webpages to share good ideas and opinions on changes we have heard about.

If we don't tell them what we want, how will they know? Like making a list for :santa: Santa! Only this time it is a list for Captain ::MickeyMo Mickey! :rotfl::woohoo:

I'm not sure...it's looking like the only port we are in long enough to do a luau is Honolulu...unless there are afternoon luaus.

Aulani isn't doing luaus and most of its activities look a little too child-centric to me, so I don't think I'll be visiting there if they do offer an excursion there.

World of Color - did that, stood there, it's a great show but my legs and feet hurt by the time it was over and I did have a fence to lean on. Not sure I want to go through that again.

You did post the same info Jackie, I just posted it before reading yours. I should have waited a minute and kept reading. Sorry.

I wanted to call and ask them about a day room too. I looked up booking a room and it would be $399 for a standard room with a standard view. I would pay that much for some excursions for both me and John so I might just do that. First I want to see what DCL is going to offer us for excursions. But I'm keeping it in mind. I can just see myself going around the lazy river all day long....stopping only to have one of those fruitty boozy drinks. haha.

Dimples says SHE loves the Buildabear Store in downtown Disney - it's two stories and they have EVERYTHING.
Staying at GC they had this thing where you could book a Build a Bear visit one hour before it opens to the public, it was awesome being there with only 4 other little girls (and parents) and 3 staff members catering to us. Of course I had to pick up the exclusive Downtown Disney Bear. :)

I called Aulani to see if they had day passes to use the facilities. NOPE. You have to get a room.
Ahhh, I was hoping we could use the facilities. Crossing my fingers that even though they don't have a day pass that the cruise line has a hotel resort excursion there to use the facilities. I'm going to send them an email, and hope.

Very excited...we just booked our flights. Thanks, Southwest! Now transportation and hotels are left to be done. Yay!

HI I am Happy Goofy's Daughter and she asked me to post for her. She is still in the hospital. Her minor surgury turned into major surgury. He recovery is going very slowly. But she is looking forward to her Hawii cruise with you.
:cheer2:

So sorry to hear this. Prayers and pixie dust sent your way

We were at WDW Saturday and Sunday nights. We stayed at the Beach Club one night and the Boardwalk Inn the second night.

Saturday was a complete wash-out! But Sunday was nice. I used CM hotel rates and the dining plan.

We didn't see a whole lot of "new" food items at the F&W, but Italy changed their offerings. I got my usual Cheddar Cheese soup at Canada. Love the empanadas in Mexico (or was it Argentina?).

Anyway, on Sunday night we ate late dinner at the restaurant in China with Albert and Ann Fairweather. It was a good choice for all of us. We ordered chicken fried rice for Patrick......I never saw such a huge portion! :lmao: we could have all eaten from it.....he loved it though, and all he wanted was something he could eat with a spoon.

I took Mike to the airport at 4:30am to catch his flight to San Jose. He is starting his new job there in a couple weeks. He flew there, bought a car and rented an apartment all before noon CA time!

:grouphug:s, prayers & pixie dust going out to Bob, Dennis & Charlotte! Speedy recovery.

THIS GOES FROM US TOO! HOPE ALL GOES WELL FOR BOB, DENNIS AND CHARLOTTE.

HOPE TO SEE YOU BOUNCING AROUND REAL SOON!:tigger:

We are still debating when to go to DL, before or after cruise... At this point I am leaning towards splitting it in half and doing both!!

Aloha - I'm not on your cruise; I am on the October one. Noticed your late departure time from Maui and was hoping we'd have one, too. The April original times were horrible for doing a luau on land, but now you've got the opportunity.

Old Lahaina Luau on Maui is very nice - I've been there twice (2000 & 2010) and the quality has not gone downhill!

For April, the time is 5:45 - 8:45. It will take at least 40 minutes to get back to the boat. This includes pre-meal cultural displays (and sunset view), buffet dinner and show.

I put in a test reservation for 10 people and got positive results. I'm surprised that DCL hasn't just booked the whole thing and made it a shore excursion, complete with transportation. Since they haven't, I was thinking, a bunch of you might want to get together, book as a group (or individuals) and get a bus to take you back to the ship.

Here's their website:

That's the one we like too but they don't do shows on Saturdays. Maybe DCL will work their magic.
