Closing Time!

Ask your escrow officer if you need a Notary (you should be calling and confirming the wire instructions by phone anyway, reminder not to call the number included With the wiring instructions to verify). I'd call sooner than later, and if you need a Notary, ask Escrow if they have an e-Notary and the cost. Free with some Escrows, pricey with others. AAA or your bank usually have free or low cost Notary. Last point, with Disney direct I needed BOTH a notary and two witnesses present at the notarization - and this was without financing !
I got an answer back this morning, no notary needed! We just sent off the forms, and the wire transfer is being reviewed by our bank now. I wonder what the actual conditions are to require a notary, it seems almost arbitrary from anecdotes.

Is a notary required for closing documents? We just received our documents today and the instructions say to return them by scan+email within 7 days along with wiring the funds. There's nothing in here about a notary, I was assuming we'd need one but I'm happy to not have to, I just want to be sure. I'm going to email my closing agent and ask, but I figured I'd toss the question out here for you all as well.

EDIT: Found a few threads here that indicate probably not, cool, that's a nice convenience for us.
Is see you already have an update. Some purchases require a notary others don't. Depends on what resort you are buying. Florida resorts dont require a notary unless financing. Hawaii requires notary and possibly some of the other states.

Days Total:

It felt like it took forever for the sellers to return their notarized documents and it almost took the wind out of my sails. Now that we've closed, time to wait for the points to arrive. I'm in no rush as I'm not planning to make any reservations for a few months, but I'm excited to complete the process!

I am one of the ones in camp wait for sellers to sign. Although many people like to wire right away, but I have had many purchases where the seller takes 2 weeks or more to sign and Id rather hold my money as long as I can.
I ended up wiring the money today knowing I probably should wait for closing agent to confirm sellers have signed. I asked closing agent, she just said she is expecting seller to sign within next week or two and I would be done by signing and wire the money…. We should have contract requiring seller reply within 3 days something like that haha. Keep them accountable to get things going.
