We are flying out of Newark....the flight is under 3 hrs. and we are flying Jet Blue (TV's). This is our first time flying with our 2 y o twins. Any suggestions on what to do with them...anything that you have done, that worked to occupy them? I'm a little nervous about the whole seat beat thing.....they will have there own seats (no car seats). And one of them knows how to get out of everything (Houdini). I don't want to be that family that got thrown off a flight when their child wouldn't buckle his seat beat! AHHHHH!

Bring a bag o goodies...snacks....crayons....
small books to color...
A few of their favorite things.....go a long way..

also try earplanes...they are earplugs for flying....
Keeps the pressure equal....
Buy a pair for yourself....so they see you are wearing them....
Let them think you have to wear them on plane....

So many times i see kids crying on flights....and wonder if their
ears are hurting...
You can bring food from home on the plane...

Maybe a walkman....for all you youngins...that like an ipod:lmao:
bring some soothing music...
good luck

My wife had gummie fruit and juice for the kids to eat during take off and landing to keep there ears from bothering them. Other than that my wife bought some cheap new stuff for them to use and between the TV and the new toys, they were fine. I let my 1 1/2 out of his car seat and it was a lot of trouble getting him back in it for landing. I will never let my very young kids out of there seats during the flight again. That's our experience.

Our middle DS flew from Boston to San Diego (with a stop in Texas). And LA to Boston (5 1/2 hrs.) when he was 1 1/2. Luckily no real problems, just got a little antsy by the end.

He also flew from Boston to Orlando (3 hrs.) when he was 2, again as long as we kept him in the car seat, no problems.

Flying with our new DD2 in December (Crossing my fingers.....and toes)

Good luck to you.

Color Wonder pads are great. Food & candy always worked for my kids. When my kids were little they did not get alot of chips so that would be a big deal for them. They have Disney fruit snacks I think those would be good. And M & M tubes. You will have to buy there drinks after you get thru Security But I would pack empty sippy cups or cups with lids. Heck I am going to take all this stuff for My 6 & 9 this trip, including cups with lids;)

Yeah dont let them out of their seats. I read and read and read to my guy. I am sure the people sitting in front of me were a little sick of Click Clak Moo by the time we landed but better than the alternative. I also had a small magna doodle and he or I drew on it. I would draw a dog and he would guessed dog. Thrilling I know...

Also brand new match box car that her drove on the tray!

Hello fellow New Jerseyan, my suggestion is to collect new things that your kids have not seen yet. ie. disney figurines, mini games, books. Then put all of them in a bag. When you are on the plane and they are bored of the manuals and the TV, take them out and they will be 'new' to them. Make sure you have something for each child so there is no fighting. Also, i reccomend Ear Planes, they can be purchased at your local pharmacy. Juice and fruit snacks work well too. Hope that helps. PS, we fly out of Newark on Jet Blue as well. HAHA

Pipe cleaners-they are quiet and you can bend them into animals, people, etc. Coloring books and crayons or sticker books (my girls loved these). Try buying little toys and wrapping them like a little car, a book, stickers, etc. and then let them open one every 15-20minutes. Snacks like cheerios or fruit loops and let them thread them on a piece of yarn to make an edible necklace. Tape yourself reading their favorite books so they can listen to the story on headphones and read the book without you having to do it.Playdoh might be messy but if you get those tiny containers they could do it on their lap tray and you could make animals, etc. Magna doodles are fun, too.

another vote for the "NEW BAG OF STUFF" i remeber getting a bunch of cheap stickers and some playdough.
