After swimming a couple of laps, I saw some familiar faces. Rebecca and Nannette had come down to the pool. Rebecca went for a soak in the hot tub so I joined her.

Either it started to rain, or we heard thunder, so we left the pool and returned to our room to get ready for dinner.

Next up: Can You Keep a Secret? (Pre-dinner antics) and Captain’s Grille

I agree I don't like sitting around especially at Disney.

I love the pool at BC!

It looks like your photos aren't showing up in the second post.

There now. I hadn't uploaded them yet. OOPS!!!

SAB really is a great pool complex. There is so much to do there. Too bad this January was so cold. I didn't make it in. But as I recall, you actually took a dip during your visit.

:fish:

Lovely pool pics, both SAB and the quiet pool AKA my laundry pool :)

NinjaMom: BEST POLY LOBBY PIC EVER!

I was looking for pictures of DH and me in your SAB pictures. We had gone swimming there that afternoon, too.

The Quiet Pool
We usually spend more time in the quiet pool than SAB because it is usually so much closer to our room. But on this trip we were in the YC's quiet pool, which is nice and secluded. :) The BVC's pool is really, too.

Mono* in Mexico

*According to Google Translator, mono is monkey in Spanish

I believe that as our group progressed towards Mexico, we lost a couple of monkeys to the gift shop along the way (Rebecca and Nannette). The rest of us took a slow boat to Mexico.

Do ducks and monkeys get along?

After our ride, we regrouped and took some photos in the Mexican courtyard.

I love the ambiance of this restaurant! Such a great setting for a meal. Mark and I used to eat there every trip before our visits to Disney with the kids. We haven’t been in a number of years and now La Hacienda is our dining darling, so I will just enjoy the views from afar.

What is that hanging on the railing???

We went outside to the gift shop across the way, where the antics continued:

So then I got into the act

As I strategically held up the maracas and this picture was being taken, I believe I asked “I wonder if this will get censored on the DIS?”

A dad was walking by pushing a stroller, looked over at me and said “Nice!” in a disgusted reproachful voice.

Invoking this reaction

What do you expect from a troop of monkeys?

Next Up: More of the World

When Aria was about 8 months old, I took her to Vegas because my college friends were having a reunion there. Who takes a baby to Vegas? I do. But not many other folks, apparently, because the airport was like a scene from Children of Men. Which if you have haven't seen, is worth it. Even if you just want to watch Clive Owen for a couple of hours. Anyway, there was a House of Blues in the hotel/casino where I stayed. And Santana was playing the weekend after I left. But there was a lot of Santana merchandise to be had beforehand. Aria played with her Santana-branded maracas until they literally fell apart. The moral of this story being, they are equally great for offending prudes at Epcot as they are for entertaining babies.

We ate at San Angel Inn for the first time this January and loved it. I'd like to try La Hacienda, too, but might get outvoted because of the ambience in the temple.

I gave Rebecca the heads up to throw away the crabs I gave her.

This might be the most quotable sentence ever posted on the Dis.

We go to pick-a-pearl every trip, too. Amara gets annoyed at the people who cluster about to watch and prevent her from getting a good view of the available oysters. She especially gave the stink-eye to four twenty-somethings in tutus who had started drinking around the world a few hours earlier.

NinjaMom: BEST POLY LOBBY PIC EVER!

I went into the laundry room and took lots of pictures but I didn't post them in this update. Maybe add them to the FAQ. I'll have to check out the pictures I have there currently.

That really is a great Poly lobby picture- helps to shift attention from the absence of the fountain.

::yes::

Oh, bummer that I didn't run into you.

I am mostly at the pools alone, or sometimes with Mark. The boys are either go-go-go at the parks, or taking a quick break so they can go-go-go again.

SAB caters to my short attention span- Activities Pool- Waterfalls- Lazy River- Slide- :squirrel:

So here is my other sort-of maracas story. In one of the programs we have at the farm on archaeology we do a segment called "Artifact Analysis" We hand the kids an item from the past and they have to try to figure out what it is used for. One item I like to give them is a darning egg:

Some of best answers by students:

Maracas- I shake it and explain it is solid so it doesn't make any noise

Baby rattle- I tap my head and say that's probably not a great toy for a baby

But my favorite response ever - a mojito muddler! (The teacher-chaperones were mortified)

:lmao:

You just can't beat the atmosphere at San Angel. May be my favorite restaurant theming at Disney. But the food at La Hacienda. SO GOOD!!!

This might be the most quotable sentence ever posted on the Dis.

Oh, my... the proofreaders must have fallen asleep to let that one through the cracks! Thank goodness the tag fairy has not been around lately on the DIS. I don't need that quote forever on my profile!

You are right about pick-a-pearl. I was obviously documenting ~Ninja's experience and I had to fight to get a good vantage point for my pictures.

I have a friend who has a similar plan as Ninja Mom for her Pick A Pearls. She will have them strung into a necklace for her daughter's wedding day. I'm thinking of starting that for my granddaughters.

I have a hard time relaxing at WDW. I feel the need to do as much as possible and rest when I get home.

I understand the need for Quiet Pools, but I find them rather amusing. Like a library atmosphere, swim quietly and don't make any noise. No laughing or splashing.

I think that is such a great idea. The necklaces made from the EPCOT pearls will make a unique and meaningful keepsake.

Me, too. I find as long as I am moving, I can keep going until I collapse at the end of the night. I would rather be exhausted at Disney than to miss out on something.

This was my first visit to a quiet pool, so I don't know what they are usually like. I think as long as you are not rowdy or screaming or throwing something around, then you are following the rules.

Can You Keep a Secret? (Pre-dinner antics)

After my swim but before dinner, we had some important work to do.

One of our monkeys (I’ll let you guess who) had prepared some flyers before the trip.

For a day or so, they were hanging on our bathroom door, but two copies had already been posted around the resort:

Laundry room

We had a few more to hang.

We found spots on the fourth floor in the hallway of rooms that overlooked the quiet pool.

We placed the “Have you seen this dog” near the fire extinguisher, “Take a Complimentary Minion” on the window and Lionel Ritchie was hung in the single elevator.

This seriously amused us to no end. We laughed and laughed and laughed. The pictures are blurry because I was shaking as I took the pictures.

Later that evening we would see the impact one of these posters had on a young guest of the resort.

But now, it is time for dinner!

Next Up: Don't Feed the Monkeys II (Captain’s Grille)

Hahahahaha! I would love to run into something like that.

This is hilarious. I didn't know that you had done this. Maybe if we were at the BC instead of the YC we would have caught on to your joke. ;)

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get back here with responses. I hate getting so behind everywhere- here, everyone else's trip reports and the Beach & Yacht Club FAQ.

:sad2:

I'm glad you enjoyed our antics.

:lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

And still laughing!!!

I can't decide which one is funnier. What a hilarious adventure.

We are easily amused!

::yes::

Hahahahaha! I would love to run into something like that.

It would be fun to be a "fly" on the wall to see people's reactions. We actually did hear people discussing one of the flyers later that night.

:goodvibes

Oh, that would have been so funny! I bet you would have suspected where the flyers originated.

:rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Love it!!!!!

Silly friends!

:rotfl:

I love the signs! It would make my day to see them around the resort. (Almost as funny as a Dee welcome poster in the ME line)

Someone has too much time on their hands to be able to make all these "fly"ers.

The welcome sign WAS classic! Whenever I post selfies with animals at the farm, I am afraid of seeing the picture return in a public setting.

:rotfl2:

:rotfl2:Hello, is it me you're looking for :rotfl2: My DD11 just came over to figure out why I'm laughing

That made me smile!

Did you share the antics of your crazy friends with your daughter?

:lmao:
