My son and his fiance were just engaged this week, and we are quite thrilled. She is a wonderful young woman.

I called them the day after the engagement was officially and told them that I would provide them with a DVC villa and tickets for their honeymoon if they want to go there. I told them about VB and HHI if they didn't want to go to WDW. I also said that they didn't have to do that if they didn't want to, but just wanted to make them aware it was available to them if they wanted it.

It made me feel good to have something like DVC to offer for them for their honeymoon. They went with us in June for a really nice stay at BWV in a 2 BDR. It was the first trip for her and my son's first since we joined DVC, they were both very impressed with the villa.

No date set yet, most likely August. I photograph weddings, so I get to see the other side of the equation this time! I'm not sure if they are going to want me to photograph the wedding or not, I certainly will if they want me too. I've got a friend or two I can call on to shoot things that I'll need to be a part of like family photos, ceremony and reception. Her father is a minister and will be doing the ceremony, so the families will obviously play many parts of the wedding!

Sorry to go on and on, I'm a bit excited.

Congratulations!! That is a lovely gesture!

Congratulations! I have done the same thing myself, it's one of the nice things of owning DVD...the ability to treat loved ones to a special vacation.

Congratulations!! What an exciting time for all of you. :) We're in the same boat as you. Our DD will become officially engaged this Saturday at DL and her future fiance's family and our family will be there to witness the excitement. We offered them DVC points for a honeymoon, too. Isn't it nice to be able to share with family?! :goodvibes

When my daughter got married 2 years ago we gave them 5 nights in a 1 BR BW view, the DDP and they had one ticket already. They really wanted to go to HI but couldn't then anyway so I arranged a 2 week trip to HI for about 9 months later. FF mile tickets plus timeshare traded for a week in a 1 BR OF at the Marriott on Maui and a studio for a week at the Marriott in Ko Olina though they were only able to stay 3 days. Timeshares have been very, very good to us.

Congrats to you! We did the same thing with our DD, offered her 5 days at OKW just waiting on them to confirm a day and waiting and waiting....:thumbsup2

Congratulations! This is an exciting time for your family. I hope you have fun during the next couple of months!!

Doesn't it feel good to do that? We love doing things like that too. I hope you come back to this thread and let us know if they accepted and which option!

Awesome. It's so great to be able to share in making their dreams come true. Keep us informed.

We hope to be able to do this for our granddaughters too some day!:lovestruc
And some day in the future you will know the priceless memories of sharing DVC with your grandchildren!

Thanks for the replies! We do have a date 8-8-09. My wife and I are already planning the after rehearsal dinner! We had planned on a restaurant but my son had rather have a cookout at a reception hall at the University he'll be graduating from this summer. I've already called my friend and fellow DVCer who is an absolute grill master to ask him to cook for us. He really loves cooking for big groups and does it so well. More news as it comes available!!

Congratulations!!!!! What a level headed kid you have - the BBQ.

Congratulaions!!! We also had the same experience. Our daughter was married in Disney last January. Her husband is from the UK and we had an escape wedding with some of our family and his parents and sister. My SIL also has DVC so between the 2 of us we were able to accomodate the guests for a week for the wedding and some AFTERFUN!!! The happy couple now resides in the UK Sooo... this Jan (in just 4 weeks!!!!) we are meeting them for a first anniversary trip at the BWV and then they are off for a 3 day Disney cruise. Couldn't have done it without our DVC and we are looking forward to more family times with both our kids and HOPEFULLY some granbabies some day. ENJOY the planning and the wedding. It IS great to be able to offer this experience to our kids especially the way things are today for young ones starting out. Again CONRATULATIONS!!!

Update! They have decided to go to HHI. I hope the heck I can get them a room at the 7 month mark!
