Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

ugh! I hated Eric calling the BQ's "ho's". C'mon, the yield is part of the game. They see you as a threat Big Guy - take it as a compliment!!

Mirna/Schmirna have got to go - "we're playing a clean game - not riding on anyone's coattails" - bull-oney! They take help when/where they can get it.

I have been following this thread for a LONG time..and just wanted to post my two cents.

Yes, you are absolutley right that they take the help when they can..but have you ever noticed that Mirna is most times carrying Charla's backpack along with hers. They are at a disadvantage, despite many of you who say that they are not. I for one am cheering them on. Yes, they may speak with a funny accent, and you may feel that they are not playing a fair game..but place yourself in their shoes and how would you play the game? Would you only have a good side to display to everyone, or would you try to outwitt your competition? People easily make judgements on this board, yes it is only a game but really take the time to think how you would be protrayed if you were in the competition? Everyone has their good sides and their bad sides, I for one feel that they are a team that puts all their efforts to win. They do not give up, they do not fight with each other (Yes, they may speak loud and vent to each other, but they never ever hurt each other's feelings.) They are at a disadvantage and never give up...if you had the same disadvantage would you even participate in this challenge?

I just feel that everyone is so hard on all the teams. You just don't know how you would react in the same given circumstances. I think that they are all doing a great job! And think that this show provides great entertainment!

Again, only my humble opinion.
I will return to lurking now:)

AMEN!! Well said! :woohoo: :cheer2:
They play a better game than others :rolleyes1

That being said - I can't believe Sharla and Myrna ended up towards the front again Wishing they go bye bye next week!!! Oh and did anyone notice they took a cab to the cookies????? I thought they were supposed to walk? I suppose since they walked to the other challenge it was okay

They can either walk or take a cab! The clue was....Make your way to.....
Im so glad they still in the race!

If you want to talk about unfair, what about when Eric called the taxi company and cancelled everyone's cabs in Australia in TAR9? That was a move outside the rules and something that deserved to be complained about.

THANK YOU! That was just mean.

I was watching with my boyfriend and when it got to the part where Mirna is telling the kids to stay off drugs and become a professional, my boyfriend said, "Now they're trying to change the world, one bad accent at a time..."

:rolleyes1

The yield is part of the game, if you think another team is stong and they're right behind you, you have to use it. IS A GAME!

If you think they don't fight, you haven't been watching the show. All the teams have their bad points but their holier than thou attitude is just plain annoying and they are two of the rudest players that have ever played in this game.

I think there would be a way to know who's behind you at the yield. If Uchenna and Joyce were ahead of them, they wouldn't have been able to Yield them. Maybe that's not the case. Maybe if you Yeild someone who's ahead of you you just miss out. But if they had counted the clues they would know how many are behind them.

Exactly! It seems when the teams get to the yield, they have to decide to yield someone or not. If they choose to NOT yield, they hold up thier little picture, announce the choose not to yield, then they put the picture somewhere other than where they got it.

So, when the teams arrive, they know they can yield a team behind them based on their little picture still being on the board. U & J's picture was still there, so the teams must of known who was behind them.

Also, with only 5 teams left, it can't be hard to count the clues in the box. D & D were 1st to the clue box, they could see there were 5 clues in the box, telling them they are 1st.

That being said, I would only yield the team that was in last place. The hour glass wait may make it impossible to catch up, resulting in elimination. There is no sense trying to get a time advantage on another team, because we saw how good a 4+ hour lead U & J and O & D had on the other teams. There is ALWAYS a catch up that evens out the teams.

I was disaapointed to see Joyce and Uchenna come in last. They were my favorites and I was hoping to see them win again.

Their comment about playing a clean game made me want to hurl. Mirna may be easy on the eyes, but that's all either of them have going for them IMO.

I too was sad to see Uchenna and Joyce so far behind and then lost.

Did they win the $1,000,000 before???

The clue to the cookies definitely said "make your way there by foot". I re-winded it to make sure. Sometimes when teams don't follow directions, they don't get the penalty until the next leg, probably because the producers didn't notice right away. So, I'm sure we'll see Charla and Mirna and Danielle and Eric get a penalty for taking a cab there.

I guess I'm in the minority that I was happy to see Uchenna and Joyce go. They were my least favorite team. I am also in the minority that I am starting to like Charla and Mirna and I think they are playing a good game. I kinda liked them in their first season too. All the things that bug others don't bug me: the yelling, the accents, "my friend" and the general snottiness. They make for entertaining television. I *do* think that the name calling next week "Yielding Queens" will bug me more than everything else put together as it's in-your-face rude.

As for Eric calling the BQ's "hos" ... that's not acceptable either. Especially when he repeated that little gem to the other teams. It's apparent that he has not grown up since his previous season.

In all, I liked the episode. I have my fingers crossed that Eric and Danielle will go next, but they have been flying under the radar a bit.

Re: Team Schmirna: I think Mirna does hurt Charla's feeling a lot. In the uber-leg episode last week, when they were driving to the castle, Mirna was berating Charla and Charla was just sitting there, speaking in a deadpan voice and looking so defeated. True, Mirna does have to do a lot simply for the fact that Charla has certain physical limitations, but it seems that Mirna is not one to ever let Charla forget that.

I really like the BQ's and the Chas, and I don't think there was anything "pirate hooker"-y about using the Yield against a strong team. E&D are a couple of wankers.

Don't forget the total raking over the coals she gave her in the car about contributing nothing and why can't she even have the clue ready when Mirna wants it. She treats her like a slave, not a partner.

Yes it said that for both tasks. But it didn't say "You must walk". I think I remember them really stressing in the past when they had to do something a certain way. So who knows. I suppose we'll find out next week if C/M and E/D get a time penalty.

And I just want to point out a cool feature that allows you to use several quotes in one post. All you have to do is click the middle button down at the lower right corner of the post if you want to quote it. You can do this to as many posts as you want, then when you're ready, just click respond and all the quotes will be there. Also, there is an edit button. If you forgot something and want to add it to your post, you can just click "edit" so that you don't have to start a new post. :hippie:

I love that feature! I would prefer to read ONE post with replies to multiple people than several posts one after another. After the second or third I just end up skimming and skipping and I don't read everything (sorry PixieDust32!).
