Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

Can anyone remind me how the Beauty Queens got left behind to wait for the next teams at the Crossroad? How did U&J and Cha Chas become partners first? Weren't they all together??

Their taxi driver had a bit of a problem with directions. That extra few minutes caused them to be last to the Intersection.

Did Charla and Mirna follow the directions at the Detour? I thought it said that they had to walk to the cookie thing, but they took a cab. Will that give them a penalty?

Charla and Mirna have got to go. And they said "the future charla and mirna's?" - God help us!!

I noticed how they said they didn't try to listen in on other teams and just do their own race.. WHAT???? They are always trying to eavesdrop.

Did U and J not have to do the road block or detour?

No, but probably because there was no reason to. I'm sure they would have had to do it if it had been a non-elimination leg.

I thought tonight was good except we knew that U/J would go. They didn't even try to edit suspense. I love Kandace and Dustin although I can't believe they yeilded Eric and Danielle. There was no reason to. Surely they would have to know that U/J weren't ahead of them therefore meaning they missed the flight. I just don't like the Yield at all. Like Danielle said, on her last race, they were eliminated because of that. That's just unfair. Can't believe Eric and Danielle were actually able to find that cookie. They sure got lucky.

I'm not sure who I want to go next. Either Charla/Mirna or Eric/Danielle. I don't want either of them to win, so I don't particularly want either of them in the final 3. But at least Charla/Mirna sometimes add a bit of comic relief.

I was actually okay with U&J leaving. They've won this once already so that's enough for them ;)

At this point the BQs are my faves. Hoping their horrible sense of direction doesn't get in their way. The Yield didn't bother me at all - this is a game!!! Use every opportunity to help yourself and derail the others. For once I even understood Sharle and Myrna not allowing Eric & Danielle to use the computers. Why take a chance on letting them book an earlier flight?

That being said - I can't believe Sharla and Myrna ended up towards the front again :sad2: Wishing they go bye bye next week!!! Oh and did anyone notice they took a cab to the cookies????? I thought they were supposed to walk? I suppose since they walked to the other challenge it was okay :confused3

Actually, I don't think they knew that U & J were behind them. They would have had to assume that U & J had made their flight and therefore were 45 min ahead of the teams they had flown with. Thus, they thought they were fighting to stay out of last place. It seemed like a good strategic decision to me.

Otherwise, they wouldn't have been so surprised to be first at the mat.

I just don't like the Yield at all. Like Danielle said, on her last race, they were eliminated because of that. That's just unfair.

Actually, on her last race, I'd say she was eliminated because they left their clues behind. Yes, the yield contributed, but they wouldn't have been behind if they hadn't had to go back.

Whether we like the yield or not, it is part of the rules of the game. It can be used strategically. They are playing a game and when you're playing a game you need to use the rules of the game to your own advantage.

If you want to talk about unfair, what about when Eric called the taxi company and cancelled everyone's cabs in Australia in TAR9? That was a move outside the rules and something that deserved to be complained about.

JMHO

"Bicycles--I simply do not like them."--Oswald

My vote for funniest line of the night.

I was watching with my boyfriend and when it got to the part where Mirna is telling the kids to stay off drugs and become a professional, my boyfriend said, "Now they're trying to change the world, one bad accent at a time..."

dw and i thought that too but I guess we just thought we heard it.

I can't believe that teams get all uppity over the yield. Why wouldn't you use anything you can to create some space??

I think all of the teams thought that Uchenna and Joyce were ahead of them. It sure seemed like Danny and Oswald thought they were last. So it makes perfect sense to try to yield the team you think is last. I'm sure if they knew that U & J were a full day behind they wouldn't have used it.

I don't like the Yield, but it is part of the game, just like the Fast Forward that two teams used last week. Even worse is the Intersection, and the BQs got hosed by that one last week. They had to sit around and wait for 4 hours for another team to show up.

I think there would be a way to know who's behind you at the yield. If Uchenna and Joyce were ahead of them, they wouldn't have been able to Yield them. Maybe that's not the case. Maybe if you Yeild someone who's ahead of you you just miss out. But if they had counted the clues they would know how many are behind them.

I know the Yield is part of the game. My problem with it (verses the Fast Forward) is that affects someone else's game. It's one thing for a team to fall behind because they messed up on something. It's another thing to fall behind because someone chose you to. Same thing with the Intersection. Last week, the Guidos would not have been eliminated if not for the Intersection because they had to wait for Eric and Danielle.

That really was a screwed up spot to have the Intersection. A pair of teams got to use the Fast Forward, the BQs had to wait 4 hours - a looong time! Plus the Guidos, who had a 30 minute penalty, had to stay with a another team and couldn't make up any ground. That was pretty messed up.

But the worst part about it was that the pairs of teams didn't even have to work together! The task was eating sausage, and it was basically an individual challenge. So what was the point of making two teams do it together?
