ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Does the zero entry part of the volcano pool have sand in it, because it's next to the beach...when I say sand I mean sand bottom like beach club...not just accidentally kicked into the pool? I though I saw a description that sounded like that but can't tell from the pics. TIA

Just returned home from a wonderful Poly CL stay. Our last two trips we have stayed at BC CL, and we haven't stayed at Poly since Oct. 2010. We had a few issues with that stay and decided to give BC a try, but our last stay at BC a couple of months ago we missed the Poly like crazy! It was great to be back at the Poly. We have been staying at the Poly since 1996, so it was like coming home. I don't think we will stray from the Poly again! We booked two trips with the bounce back offer, and can't wait to return.

Nope. It is a Disney mystery. I have never received one either. There are lots of threads on here guessing about how to get one, so you could search out some of those ideas, but I don't think anyone knows how they really send them out.

My FIL got one at our house address, but I couldn't use it snce it wasn't a name in our household, so I think the likelihood of getting even an accurate PIN code is rare! You can, however, call and ask if there is a code by your name. Done that once and had a room-only I didn't know about that wasn't a public code.

Storm Along Bay at Beach club has a sandy bottom. So does my youngest son at times!

One more try, then I give up.... sorry for the thread interruption

I had that same problem. I just added a line space and a random smilie at the bottom and that way all the stuff I want shows up and the smilie sometimes disappears. Weird, I know!

Its the tinkerbell feet off setting it all lol

I want pin codes. I never get them, is there a site to register for them?

The strangest thing happened when I booked our trip for Oct. 2011. I had been waiting for some type of discount to come out. The discounts for Oct. came out the first week of August, but our dates were blacked out. Since our dates were blacked out I decided to go ahead and book at rack rates. The hold time was crazy because new discounts had just been announced (just not for our dates). After entering all my information and holding for a long time, I finally hung up without making a reservation. It may have just been a coincidence, but I got a pin code the next day that included my dates. It was the strangest thing.

new topic...does anyone know if Tokelau rooms 2914 and 3914 are still charged as Lagoon View rooms?? Considering switching our Sept stay from POR back to the Poly and we really liked the Tokelau bldg.:thumbsup2

I've looked through all the sites including tiki mans but need help. I have a garden view booked and want to add a request. My order of importance is connecting rms with our friends, balcony, recently refurbed, closest to main pool and lobby, 3rd floor. I'm think Somoa? Do they have 3 floors with balconies?

Last summer we ate at the Poly twice and for our trip this summer DD12 asked if we could do a split stay between YC and Poly. We have stayed at YC last 3 summers and just love the area, etc. This year though I was able to work our touring plans that staying a the Poly for 2 nights would make sense based on our MK day and dining plans.

However I have read so much negative on Poly rooms - from people who had peeling wallpaper and mold to dirty carpet etc. I am unable to figure out if the poly was renovated in parts or if all rooms are on the same playing field.

Room decor is important to me. I like a fresh room and paying that much a night for rooms in need of repair would bother me.Are some longhouses updated? Do you request a certain longhouse to stay at? On estimate how long of a walk would one be from a longhouse to the main hub with ohanas and the monorail etc.

I am so sure all of this is answered in the 200 pages above but I need to pull the trigger quickly to change if that is what I am going to do. I am an EXPERT on YC but feel in the dark over here! :) thanks so much.

I'm not going to say the Poly rooms are PERFECT and always fabulous but they are really nice! I personally have a few things that seem to always be an issue - peeling paint on the back of the bathroom door (from all the steam in the bathroom) and a non-existent bathroom fan (engineering claims it is noiseless but I don't see the steam or the 'smells' getting whooshed away). I did get a Palmetto bug in the room last time we were there but we stayed ground floor. And one of the outlets couldn't hold a plug. There you have it - all the bad.... The good totally outweighs it and the Poly is really good about addressing your issues (as long as you tell them!)

I've returned 4 times to this resort and would love to go back again.

All of the rooms were refurbished a few years back (I stayed in a refurbished room as they refurbished the floor above us in 2007 :) Tikiman's site has the exact years of the refurbs for each of the buildings. I personally like Tokelau because I get garden view and there is not one bad garden view in Tokelau. It is also 'central' and a quick walk to the pool or GCH and a 5 minute walk to the TTC to get the monorail Epcot. If you look at a map on the front page, you can see where everything is located. To go from one side to the other side of the resort, it would take me a brisk 7 minute walk but might take others longer. GCH is pretty central though to it all.

Good luck!

Thats a lot of requests. I would request Samoa or Tokelau with connecting rooms or just connecting rooms with balcony. There is really no bad location at the poly everthing is pretty close. I would choose one other request beside the connecting rooms, and leave it at that.

So...now that the monorail doesn't run for EMH's anymore...if you are at Epcot for EMH'S I assume that a bus is then provided, correct???

It was running in December? :confused3 BUT.. it stopped running when the park closed, not an hour after.

My understanding is that the monorail only operates an hour after regular park closing...and not after EMH's....so, if at Epcot for EMHs I can't imagine they'd just strand you there...there must be a bus right???

Yes they will have a bus. The monorail was running until 1100 during emh at epcot when we were there in December. I think emh was until midnight. Disney will provide alternative transportion. They will aso have busses to ttc which is just a short walk to poly.

Ha!!! I just asked you to answer this on the RC'ING thread since I couldn't get an answer here...I knew you'd know!!!:thumbsup2
