All Aboard Presidents Week Mexican Riviera February 19, 2012 Wonder

Hi. I'm new to this thread, as my wife has been the one posting for our family.

I just wanted to see where everyone is staying before the cruise, and if anyone has any pre or post trip plans in LA.

Hi Bruins,
We are driving down to LA day before the cruise. Will stay at double tree hotel in San Pedro. We are not sure what we will do on Saturday yet. Perhaps go to Downtown Disney??

Hey everyone,

I haven't been here in a while - it looks like this board is picking bit! :yay:

I just booked our flight to LAX for Thursday evening. We came in on Friday last year and our home airport was a zoo because EVERYONE was flying out that evening (all the schools here have vacation President's week), so I am hoping flying Thursday will be a little less stressful! Kids are happy they get an extra day in LA!

Deb, I like your idea of setting up something for later in the cruise! And I agree, that last sea day was cold! Brrrr.

Now, I'm gonna go see if I can find the Facebook page... :)

OK can someone check out and see if they can join the facebook page. I changed the setting last night and am hoping that will work. Right now it's just my husband and I so I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong. the group is called DISboarders Wonder Feb try doing a search and see if you can join. I'll check back later today and see if anyone was able to join. The FB page was really helpful on my last cruise. I hope I can figure it out.

I found it.

I'm a pretty cautious person when it comes to traveling, personal information and what I post on the Net so I'm not all that comfortable joining a FB group. That's just me.

That said, I noticed you asked about Pirate night and Palo. Pirate night should be the 4th night (first night at Cabo). Formal is the 2nd night and Semi formal is the 6th night.

I think I found it. I just sent friend request. I hope I sent it right place!!!:cheer2::cheer2: Thank you for setting it up.

Yes, got it! I sent in a request but don't bother accepting me yet! I don't want people to know we're on the cruise quite yet. If you accept, that's ok, I'll just leave it for now. Thanks!

Oops! I saw this after I was on FB. I accepted all the requests not sure who is who since I only know people by the Disboards name on here. So, I probably accepted yours. You can always cancel out of the group and then send another request once people know you are cruising.

LKFan I know what you mean I am the same way that is why I originally set it up as private but that wasn't working b/c no one could join. I'll try and figure out a way to keep it private so only we can see it and it doesn't get posted on our wall. Fortunately the group name doesn't give the cruise dates just Feb. People would have to guess which week (which probably wouldn't be too hard)

One other thing we can do a group is a game show- I think it was called Wonder Quest. It is a gameshow where everyone participates in groups. I think they had a family version and also one for just adults.

Doubletree would be my first choice for San Pedro, as it's right on the water. Nice views- it's a really popular location for weddings.

we got "park and cruise" deal w/breakfast including. it was only $40 extra than just room. I hope this will work well with shuttle to the port...

The only thing of concern that I've read about the DT shuttle is that you should make your reservation for the shuttle as soon as you arrive on Saturday. I guess it fills up with people making their way to the ship(s).

We drive by the port and over the Vincent Thomas Bridge a couple Sundays a month. Since the Wonder has been back in So Cal, I haven't noticed any other cruise ships in SP on Sundays so, hopefully your shuttle won't be too crowded.

Thank you for your tips!! I will diffinally do that. The worst case, My husbad will drop us and luggeges off at port and then he will take the shuttle by himself. it will be easier to get one person on the shuttle than 4 w/a lot of luggeges.

Is anybody have any information( good, bad,or must go...) about "Rainforest spa" day pass? I heard cheaper way to relax at spa.... I am looking for some quiet relaxing time away from crowd.

The last time we did the Exotic Rasul and at the end they gave us glasses of champagne and brought us over to the rainforest room to relax while we had the champagne. The heated tile loungers were nice - there were also a couple of saunas and steam rooms I think. I think there were some aromatherapy showers too. We didn't use anything but the loungers. This may be a good choice on the first or last sea days as those days were rather cool.

Inquiring minds want to know..... How was the Exotic Rasul? popcorn::

I added our info to the spreadsheet - great idea. I prefer not to list names on such a public forum. My kids enjoyed the FE but I was worried about the luggage space. I am just a little cautious as our last Feb cruise was cancelled due to family emergency, so trying not to get too excited yet.

We definitely want to do a whale watching excursion. I had started looking but have been busy at work. I have used Island Marketing LTD for excursions in other ports and see they are adding some MR ports, so I am anxious to see what they offer.

The spreadsheet is for those participating in the FE, right? Does that mean you guys are in? Just checking because I had you listed as unsure.

This is what I have. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, count us in, please! Just nervous - it was President's week 2010 that we had to cancel and I still have some of those FE gifts, lol. That year, Valentine's Day fell during that week, so had a lot of themed things - so I can't recycle them this trip ;o)

:rolleyes1

Lol, I'm sure you you've read trip reports about it! But seriously, it is a nice experience - my DH isn't that comfortable getting massages by strangers, so it is a way for him to relax a little bit and we get some quiet time without the kids. And I get to try all sorts of nice skin products that I normally wouldn't spend the money on :)

Anyone else get GTY assignments yet? As a family of six, we have two rooms and in the past, GTY rooms for myself or my clients have always been reasonably close when traveling as a family with minor children. Now, I have one all the way forward on the port side, and one all the way aft on the starboard side.

Staterooms had not been assigned as of just a few days ago, but I thought I'd split my final between two billing cycles and wanted to be paid in full in time to book Palo, etc on 11/21. I paid one room off Sunday and one room this morning. When I checked this morning, the room I paid Sunday had a room assignment, and the room that I hadn't paid yet did not. After applying final on the second room, I logged back in and the stateroom was assigned. I never noticed before if assignments were given when payments were made.

I'll call in a few to see if I can change anything but had no luck doing so online. Just thought I'd see if anyone else was assigned yet.
