Tom you are fast. I see that the virtual cruise has already been updated on the piratezone. :cool1:

I was sure you were going to post the picture and sure what you were going to name it, so I pre-programmed it....... (anyone want a bridge in Brooklyn?) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm getting much better at cutting and pasting the code...

Has anyone or know anyone who has had chicken pox as a adult????

Hi Liz, My DD gave me the chicken pox on my 35th birthday !:scared1: When I found out she was exposed I called my Dr. to see if there was anything I could do. They weren't concerned and even had the nerve to say I probaly got them when I was child and forgot about it.:rolleyes1 My Mom and me KNEW none of my sisters had the chicken pox. I was very sick and even wen't to hospital. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

T.G.I.F.

G'mornin' pirate:s !

Today is my last weekday of freedom. I start work on Monday. Am I doing anything fun? No. I'm sitting around waiting for the handyman and the cable guy. I gave the property manager a 'drop dead date' of today to fix all the things that were supposed to be fixed after we did our walk through a month ago. None of the windows open - new paint...painted shut & most of the doors are out of wack & don't close right. We'd just fix these things if it was 1 or 2, but we are talking every door and window in the house! I'm not going to ask for a day off from my new job because they couldn't get their act together in over a month. Well they are finally getting around to it today. The house is in decent shape, it is a first time rental, but it is old - built in 1960. Actually we are the first people to live in the house after the original owners. For the size and area, I think this was pretty spectacular house in 1960. Big bedrooms, 2.5 bath, walk in closets - all pretty rare in 1960. Anyway, nothing fun for me today.

We did make it to the zoo on Wed. and we were going to go to Six Flags yesterday, but DS8 had hockey tryouts at 6:30 pm and given the option, he made the very mature decision to skip Six Flags since he didn't want to be tired for tryouts. I was quite proud of him.

I SO would have left a $1.50 in quarters for the dryer in front of their door.

Wow, I guess it is hereditary! My folks are both Salukis & my dad went to grad school at U of I.

Actually I always joke that my folks were the most boring college-age people to live through the late '60's. They graduated SIU in 68 & 69, BUT my dad was a Young Republican (IN 1968!) and my mom was an RA for 2 of the 3 years she was in college.

Aw shucks, I was going to send you my order. ;)

Underwear is expensive!
Sorry kids, no new underwear this year - we're saving for TOAL.

Enjoy your weekend and good luck in your job.:wizard:

I guess it must differ by cable systems. I ran by my parent's place this morning - the actually have power AND cable (definitely unusual for this morning in the Chicago area!). I checked through all the On Demand stuff and its not there. There IS a Disney Channel section, but it is just some of the regular series like Hannah Montana, Higgly Town Heros, etc. I also checked under other "Kids" areas and under "movies" and "new". This area is all Comcast.

Well, that's a bummer.... Anyone out there who's On Demand has HSM2 willing to tape or record a DVD and mail it to me? I'd be happy to pay the costs.

Pamela (pdarrah)

We also have comcast, not so thrilled with it so far.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
(It really is funny, some of the little quirks we have)

We usually skip the salads on a buffet--more room for the goodies then:rolleyes1

I am hoping the same thing Tina! I hate when the sirens go off.:scared1:
Enjoy your ring, I am thinking that we will be seeing quite a few of these on board!:)

I just hope the sirens don't go off that often. Dante is starting to just go in my closet by himself to lie down.:rotfl2:

Hi Tina - No this isn't the norm for storms around here. We certainly get the occasionally severe thunderstorm and there are occasionally tornados, but they are usually much more localized. There will be a storm and it will build up and cause some damage/flooding in a couple towns and then die down or move out of the area. I can't actually remember the last time there were widespread severe storms like this - I heard someone on the radio say they hadn't seen anything like this since a storm in the 60's.

Part of the problem with the clean up and getting power back on is that it is so widespread. If this were a more "normal" situation, it would be affecting only a few towns and the surrounding areas would be sending in help (extra police, utility crews, etc). Since nearly every town in the area is affected to some extent, it is going to take a while to get things back to normal.

I hope you haven't had much damage. Since you were posting last night, I assume you didn't lose your power.

Pamela

Power wen't on and off. During the storms I had everything un-plugged and computer shut down. As soon as I got off computer last night more storms moved through. Over & over again ! Thought it would never end.

This afternoon looks kinda :scared1: ...............Has anyone heard from Cheryl & John? Chuck works in Elk Grove which isn't far from them and he was hit hard.

Under "Useful Links" is a link on how to make a fish extender from Downrivermama.

Is this for a no sew kind? Anyone have ideas for a no sew one but still strong enough?

My grown kids were not so happy. They are used to the club scene here in Orlando and the entertainment on the ship just didn't cut it for them. So they drowned their sorrows at the promenade Lounge. The grandkids on the other hand loved it and beg to go back. You can't please everyone.:confused3

Our 24dd & 27ds aren't big club goers. Never have been. Once or twice a year tops.
On the ship they did drink ALOT :rotfl: (along with Cheryl! :rotfl2: ) but, they meet lots of new poeple including off duty CM's to hang out with!

Here's my dd (@ the time 23 dd) with Cheryl (and another friend of ours that is on the waitlist for this cruise) at the Pirate party --

WOW!! Was that something sponsored by Disney? How cool! Your son looks so into it! How adorable!

Yes, it was a Disney sponsered event! :woohoo: It was on Day 2 and considered *optional* -- it was listed like it was for kids but, everyone went except a couple of women. It was REALLY fun!!

Have you seen this site? Looking back at these almost makes me cry.:sad1:

I thought this was a pretty cool site too. Even though I grew up a "local" in Socal - thinking I had been to DL many many times - there are lots of things listed which I don't recall having noticed / done / rode or seen! Otherwise it is a nice bit of whimsy for so many wonderful things now long gone.

Question for a previous Canal cruiser!!

After we leave Acapulco and are heading down the coast, can we see land on the starboard side? Or are we pretty far out to sea?

I had a starboard side verandah room so I was looking out to sea a lot and that was very interesting lots of sea life.

Now from my memory walking around the ship during the day you didn't see much land at all, I remember seeing bits leaving LA, coming in and going from Acapulco for a short time, Acapulco was at night, but during the sea days after leaving Acapulco, nothing much.

Now remember we did hit some very bad weather, the tail end of a hurricane at Cabo, it was raining overcast and windy in Acapulco, so visibility was poor.

I remember seeing a lot in the Caribbean from Curacao to CC, both sides lots of islands, maybe better visibility but far more both sides than after Acapulco, so I think no.;

WELL...I already have our banner, and it WILL at least be on the verandah on the day that we pass through the canal. That was the whole idea.

I think you're right, Andrew, if we put it up in the morning, then it probably won't be a problem as long as we take it back down that afternoon or evening.

Imagine my horror (and DCL's) when we arrived in Barbados for the very first time ever, and someone had all their undies on a line on their verandah!! It didn't make for the best showing.

Another take.

Thats not a washing line, the guy who is in that room is just showing off how many ladies he has met on the cruise and taken back to his stateroom!

(PS to the Mod's he was showing them his Disney pins! - the collection.)

We're fine - no damage and not even a power outage (no cable). However, the area around our house is a mess. Our town was hit pretty hard and there are a LOT of big, old trees down or big limbs off of them. A warehouse in the industrial part of town had a roof collapse and 40 people were injured. Power is out to most of the town. My house overlooks part of the downtown area and it has been without power down there since the storms went through yesterday afternoon. I'm the only one on my street with power (we had our service moved underground 15 years ago and they brought it in from behind our house instead of the poles going down the street - this puts us on a totally different part of the grid from our neighbors).

Pamela

WOW I had no idea that was going on (still no TV). I hope all our Chicago friends are OK.

Enjoy your weekend and good luck in your job.:wizard:

Thanks!

That is way cool. I guess they figured out how to pack the magic up and bring it with them!

Knowing how traffic is around there and the endless traffic lights, where do you get to run it? :lmao: Love the color!:thumbsup2

They are really good, hope they instal photopass by then on the ship.

I'm hoping for photopass too. We got the CD with lots of pics during one of our longer trips to WDW. We had no problem getting pictures and Christmas cards printed out for a lot less.

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is well and safe. Hope everyone in Chicagoland is OK. We never got the bad storms yesterday, went around us and hit the northern burbs. We did get rain, but I slept through it!

We got it. What a great light show!!! Pretty loud too!!!

The bike path had lots of tree debris on it this morning.
