Hello Everyone :)
Hope all my fellow Chicago diser's are safe tonight. First time ever in my life I heard a tornado siren.:scared1: We had some really nasty storms come through here. Imagine Dante Brooke and myself in my closet for 45 min.

On a good note.........I got my Mickey ring today.:thumbsup2 I love it ! I only really like gold but love this ring. I will post a pic. I will try and ketchup a little.:surfweb:

If your cable has an "on demand" section, check the free Disney Channel stuff, it was in there a few days ago

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the suggestion. We don't have on demand (just plain analog cable) - but my parents do. I'll stop by their house tomorrow and check. Fortunately, they live only about 3 miles away. I know DS has mentioned watching Hannah Montana at G&G's house on demand so there must be some Disney stuff.

Its kind of funny how behind the times we are on A/V stuff when we tend to be techie types with other stuff (such as the 4 computers and wireless network for 2 adults and 1 child!) We still have analog cable, a regular CRT type TV and record stuff with a VCR. DH plans to upgrade all of it when he finishes the renovations on one of the rooms he is working on. Then we'll get the flat panel TV, digital everything and so on....

SO...

... since returning home it's been dusty brown skys with "health advisories" for air quality here. It seems we have fires burning all over the place in the region. The larger and closest one being the "Zaca" fire in Santa Barbara 40 miles north of us. It's already burned 222,557 acres as of last nite at 8pm! It started on July 4th; is now only 79% contained and is predicected to burn out on September 7th, 2007. http://cdfdata.fire.ca.gov/incidents/incidents_current?pc=5&cp=0

I never even noticed they had this fire going back in July - til recently. Yesterday the skys looked especially "dirty rust color"!

Sorry about the fires.:sad1: That really is a cool looking picture though.

I had an e-mail from our Captain ...Todd...... as they were arriving in Cadiz this morning. All is well and they're having a great time.
Except for one small detail....

There are no Mickey Bars on the ship!!!! :scared1: :scared1:

:mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

Some sort of problem with the supplier to the Med.

I just can't IMAGINE that. Somebody would have some xplaining to do.

Whoo hoo! Just got the official word they are releasing dad from the hospital!

Glad to hear the good news !:dance3:

I like it. A lot. She maybe could have gone a little shorter over the ears, but it's pretty cute. When Jordan gets home, I'll have her take a picture of me. She's there now, getting a cut and color.

Big bucks day...between the dentist and the hairdresser.

I will gladly switch my recent medical bills with ya.:rolleyes1
I saw on the news hot hot Arizona is............Stay cool.

The bracelets are adorable!

I have already started buying fish extender gifts! I have over 100 bought (I think I have about 130). I really like to have things for more then 1 day -- last trip I think I did 3 or 4 days..... For this large of a group though I'll have to wait and see! LOL!!!!

Me Too ! :goodvibes

I'm waiting for the glue to dry on my foam pirate ship. I never did find the treasure chest, but HAD to have something to play with!!

Can't wait to see it. I don't sew so I am looking for something easy to make for fish extender.

Happy Birthday Camilo/Littlekid58 DH!!!

WELL...I already have our banner, and it WILL at least be on the verandah on the day that we pass through the canal. That was the whole idea.

I think you're right, Andrew, if we put it up in the morning, then it probably won't be a problem as long as we take it back down that afternoon or evening.

Imagine my horror (and DCL's) when we arrived in Barbados for the very first time ever, and someone had all their undies on a line on their verandah!! It didn't make for the best showing.

IMG_5216.jpg

Ah I will take the banner over that anyday. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hi Everyone! We're back from our soggy long weekend in Wisconsin - well, we actually got back late Tuesday night, but I was swamped with stuff to do yesterday and spent a bunch of today on "ketchup". It rained, misted, fogged, poured and drizzled on us all weekend. There were occasional moments of just heavy overcast when we got out of the cabin - but definitely NOT boating, swimming, hiking weather!

My parents drove up Tuesday before we left and kept DS8 with them there. Fortunately, they had a good weather day yesterday (of course, DH & I weren't there!) but it was pretty overcast/drizzly again today.

We've had HUGE storms here today - I hope all the other Chicagoland DISers are OK. We have been lucky - lots of trees down near us, but all ours are OK and we even have power (but no cable). It took me about 45 minutes to drive the 10 miles home from work. DH took nearly 2 hours (his normal comute is about 35-45 minutes)
Pamela (pdarrah)

Sorry to hear about your weather for your getaway.:sad2: I hope this isn't the norm for these kind of storms. I just won't be able to get used to it.:rolleyes1 I haven't been outside yet to see the damage, but I did notice my garage filled up with water.

Thanks for posting this, I was also wondering about Costa Maya.:thumbsup2 That was a really cute picture of you and the bear. Might use that photo to your advantage someday.:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Aaahhh! I setup the VCR to tape HSM2 on Friday and we just found out it didn't work :scared1:

Due to the storms today, we don't have cable right now so I wasn't able to tape tonights showing either.

It won't be on again until SEPTEMBER 8th!

DS8 gets back from Wisconsin Sunday and he has been so excited to see this. He is going to be really upset and there isn't a thing I can do about it.

OK - its not the end of the world - but he starts school next Wednesday and I bet all the other kids will have seen it - and he is a huge fan and won't have seen it at all..... Major bummer :sad2:

I don't suppose anyone near here happened to tape it and would lend it to us for a few days? I would be happy to pay postage.

Pamela (pdarrah)

Sorry Pamela our cable was in and out. During storms I follow a couple of rules, no phone and tv ...........well I turn on weather chan. then quickly shut off and hide.:scared1:

Where did everyone go?:confused3 Brooke starts her first day of school tomorrow as a freshman.:yay: guess it's time for me to hit the hay. Night all....:cloud9:

I found this article on MSNBC today and it made me feel a little nostalgic since much of it reflects the Disneyland I grew up with in the 60's and 70's.

Mary that was a great piece. I never rode the skyway ride--I never trusted those cables. Thanks for posting it.:)

Stace I remember you posting this early in the thread--it was just as funny today!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You know, its nice to know other folks have insane DS's!!! Here is a photo of mine (8 years). This is actually a "captain Jack" moment - all the stuff he is wearing is his pirate loot (actually stuff my mother was going to give to goodwill and he "pirated" it away from her.)

Pamela (pdarrah)

Pamela, you will have to keep this picture handy for date nights:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I sure miss Adam doing crazy stuff like that.

No kidding!!! I will tell you that at 2am the morning of departure (him and i were the only ones downstairs and he started his *itching) I told him that if he didn't shut up and at least pretend he was having the best time ever I would personally throw hiim overboard after I beat the tar out of him! ;)

I told him that this trip was so important to his father (it was the first time ever that all 5 of the kids were able to go with us on trip together -- he was starting college the year that our now 9ds was born) and that his father had spent alot of money to make sure that everyone had a good time -- dh got the two older kids their own Cat 7 (?) stateroom so that they would feel like they had their *own* space! I personally would have bought them a Cat 12! :rotfl: :rotfl: Dh is nicer then I am! ;)

I would have booked the 12 too!:rolleyes1

He will be 20 on the cruise. He has not been on any Disney cruises; just 2 NCL and 1 Princess. He was going on a training trip the year I took his brothers on the Disney cruise. One reason he is not thrilled is that he feels I overdosed him on Disney when he was younger (poor baby!). Another is that he is not thrilled to be away for so long. I keep telling him that he will enjoy the adults only area and the ports will be great.
Adam has his days where is not too thrilled either, he will be 19 when we cruise. I know LG has some older boys too. Maybe when it gets closer they can chat online.:)

Me too, NEW NEW NEW. Always spend to much money just to go on vacation. Have to buy new underwear and sock for everyone. Well not EVERYONE just the ones in our family.
:rotfl:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
(It really is funny, some of the little quirks we have)

I have been trying to be good all week in anticipation of Goofy's Kitchen on Sunday. My DW likes it because they have an extensive salad bar (right next to the dessert table :rotfl2: ).
We usually skip the salads on a buffet--more room for the goodies then:rolleyes1

I am hoping the same thing Tina! I hate when the sirens go off.:scared1:
Enjoy your ring, I am thinking that we will be seeing quite a few of these on board!:)

Oh for crying out loud.
I haven't read the board for a few days (catching up after my INSANE weekend Fri-Mon and still busy after Monday too) and now I come back to find that things have changed? they no longer have those little arrow thingies to the left of the thread that you could click and it would take you to the last posts you'd read on the thread the last time you were here?

That was my only saving grace on this thread! I never could keep up (and/or know where I left off- where I'd read last) on the blabbermouths thread. With that little arrow thingy I was doing better at keeping up on this thread- even when I was gone for a few days or something.

Why oh why, ye Dis masters, have ye decided to taketh the arrow thingies away from me??? :confused3 :sad2:

Good luck on me catching up now. Let me spend an hour or so clicking back pages until I find one I recognize and THEN start reading from there... forever more to be tons of pages behind everyone else... trying to "ketchup". *sigh*

Shelley/BIP...I almost forgot that you had asked...that head server's name was Aleksandra. We've had her a couple of times, and have enjoyed her....she seems to spend more time at the tables during the week, rather than just showing up on the last night for her tip envelope. And she's fun! She shares her hat.
Ah yes, now I remember her name now that you say it. LOL!!!!
Well, we did not see her for the first part of our cruise at all -but there was some incidence of us asking for pecan pie one night when they didn't have it- she was called over by our server and she went a little crazy with the pie after that (she was being very sweet). She had them bring us pecan pie after every meal and the next day (after the first time we asked and they didn't have it that night) we found an entire pecan pie was delivered to our room. :rotfl: We really did like the pecan pie though.. so it wasn't wasted. LOL
Anyway, after the "we don't have any pecan pie" incident... we saw a lot more of her. I kept wondering did she think we were going to be UPSET that they didn't have the pecan pie or something? (we weren't in the least upset- we just asked if they had it! LOL) -she paid a lot of attention to us checking on us, making the kids laugh, etc. after the pecan pie "no gotta" night. LOL

Speaking of dogs, I have to share with you one of the reasons my cockerpoo Rosie is such a pain in the add. While we were on vacation, I had a friend come in & let her out a few times a day, play with her & make sure she had enough food. I left the TV on & pretty much gave her the run of the house. We put her in a kennel once & she was so traumatized that she didn't eat while she was there. When we picked her up she was all skin & bones so I swore I wouldn't put her back in one. Well I thought her being in familiar surroundings would make her happy & she wouldn't miss us too much.

While we were at BWVs I got a call that she had torn a hole in the wall by the front door all the way to the studs, she tore 2 shades apart, tore one of my curtains to shreads & even tore the 6ft wooden rod right out of the wall, and she ripped the whole bottom of one of my screens & escaped. Luckily a neighbor spotted her & kept her till my friend showed back up. Anyway, this is a dog that we've left alone & the house all day long many many times & she's never chewed anything.

I guess that was a bad idea & now we have to figure out something else when we go away. She is not friendly to other dogs so it's almost impossible to find a place to take her. I need the dog whisperer! Anyone watch that show? I love Cesar! It's amazing what he can do with dogs or really what he teaches the owners. I need him to teach me a few things.

This is the same reason we cannot leave Tramp in the house ANYTIME we are all gone.
When we first got him (from shelter- found as stray at local park- we got him just before Christmas almost 3yrs ago) we tried kennel training him at night and while we were gone but that only lasted like a week. We were doing it because we didn't KNOW that he was already housetrained- but he sure was. Once we realized he wasn't ever having accidents and going to the back door to let us know when he had to "go"- we ditched the kennel training stuff. But we soon realized he'd prefer to roam the backyard than be in the house if we were all gone. He would tear up mini blinds all over the house trying to "find" us out the window, flip out and jump on the tables, counters, etc. (he was smaller then. I'm not sure he could lug himself up on that stuff nowadays -he's bigger but still short... just really long with short little legs) But he was perfectly happy being left in the backyard anytime we like all went out to eat dinner or something.
When we went on our cruise vacation- we found a kennel for him to stay at that was ideal for him. Large cages at the woman's home- she frequently took them for walks and allowed well-behaved (which Tramp is) and housetrained dogs in her home at times- and the cages each had their own door to their own large fenced outside area with toys/etc. So he could go in and out (inside was air conditioned- necessary here in Texas!) he did great- didn't fuss, didn't get upset, actually gained weight while there, etc.

You might try finding someone like a "nanny" for him- maybe someone who would keep him in their home or something similar to what we had- because he is obviously like Tramp and having someone come over sometimes is not enough... Tramp would freak right out if we left him for days on end with someone just coming in a few times a day to tend to him and give him some attention! (and we certainly couldn't leave him outside all day every day while we were gone- even if someone was coming over to feed/water/give attention- it's too hot out there!)

I had quoted someone else but it's gone now. ugh
But it was about the dog following everywhere.

Tramp was exactly like that when we first got him. He was housetrained and obviously smart as a whip (seemed like he understood english, I swear!) but he had "issues". He was found at the park- no telling how long he'd been a stray before the shelter picked him up. He obviously either as a stray- or in someone's care- had to fight for food. He would be fearful of getting food to eat and woud grab a bite and take off to hide somewhere to eat that one bite. I had to sit by him at his bowl and comfort him to make him feel safe enough to eat it (even putting it in "hidey" places like behind couch and such didn't work). I had to do that for weeks. He didn't know what toys were- he didn't play with any toy, chew stuff, etc. for atleast 6mo. He just flat out didn't know what toys were. Which was kinda great since he didn't chew any of the kids toys. LOL But once he got into his toys he didn't chew up TOO many of Rita's little plastic dollies/princesses/etc. that she left lying around before he figured out which toys were his and which weren't. But he followed me around EVERYWHERE and he still does to some degree.
The first year or so- he went every where I went. Even if I went to the bathroom. Laid on the couch next to me when I was on the computer, sat next to me in recliner, followed me when I walked around (even if I walked around a lot like to clean house and such), slept at the foot of my bed. EVENTUALLY he relaxed a little. Now he just has to be in a room with 'someone" in the household. But if I'm the only one at home- he still follows me around. But if others are here- he's content to lay on the couch if Jeff's in the family room, he knows when everyone is heading to bed (even though I'm still up) that it's time to head for Robert's room and sleeps at the foot of his bed- or sometimes under his bed (I think here he likes the cold ceramic tiles or something), etc. He just has to be with someone. This is why he freaks right out if we leave him in the house when we're gone. He's fine if we leave and he has run of the backyard- but he cannot stand to be left alone in the house. It's like he even knows (somehow- maybe he's figured out when I put my purse on my shoulder I'm going somewhere? LOL) when we're all leaving because he'll be by the backdoor waiting for someone to let him out. (even though we do not leave by the backdoor ever)
I guess he's still insecure- but thankfully he doesn't have to follow my every move if other people are home- he just has to be right up SOMEONE'S butt at all times. LOL If everyone leaves the family room- he will NOT just stay there- even if he was asleep on the couch... he cannot be in a room alone. Poor dear. :(

I'm just getting caught up on this thread, emails & the main board & I know this is old news, but I just got to say how excited I am to see that DCL reversed their decision on the $100 per person. I know in the scheme of things it's not much but it brought our total price up over 10K & that was really bothering DH. He's been complaining a lot lately about how much this cruise is costing us, especially when we are dealing with some major renovations on the house so we can sell it & now with house prices dropping so much, we don't think we're going to recoup our money. He also doesn't read the DIS boards, so his emotional attachment to this cruise is not as great as mine.

I was really starting to think that I should just give in & cancel, especially after just spending around $1500 for 2 OV staterooms (loved having 2 baths & 2 TVs). DH could not believe how nice the cruise was. He had himself convinced he was only doing this for the family reunion, but he was going with the mind set that the Sovereign would be a dump, the food horrible & the private island a joke. None of those things came to fruition & he was pleasantly surprised. I've been on the Sovereign before so I knew that it is a great cruise. Coco Cay is no Castaway Cay, but it is very nice. Now mind you it was only 3 nights & we didn't have a verandah, but we could do that cruise 5 times over & not pay the amount we were paying for the PC cruise. DH was saying he would gladly go on another 3 day cruise in a heartbeat, but he's not sure about how he's going to feel after 15nts. I know I mentioned this before but he gets post-cruise sickness. He is really balking & it's not looking good.

Anyway, with this reversal & our OBC credits (I love DU!), this cruise is not looking as expensive & I'm just hoping that DH will have such a time of his life, that he will feel that in the long run it was all worth it so I'm not cancelling unless I feel we absolutely have to. I'm just going to wait & see how our financial situation is in the spring & pray that everything looks a little better & DH gets excited about this cruise. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Don't you dare cancel woman!
I'm glad you're not cancelling- but don't even talk about it. LOL
I know how you feel... we hope we do not have to cancel but who knows what could happen before then and the time it's due. It is a LOT of money.. sure hope DH keeps getting overtime (and he hasn't for awhile which is totally starting to freak me out a little)

OK...

... just got in this early AM from a long drive to Visalia. We visited Sequoia yesterday - taking in a twilight stroll with a Ranger on a guided tour. Plus we climbed to something called Morro Rock for a breath-taking (but hazy) panoramic view. The Marriott had a $10 charge for internet access - and we got in so late my spouse suggested we do without since it was a bit irresponsible to waste company money for such limited use. So I went into withdrawal convulsions without access - but survived somehow til now. I drove all the way back in one sitting - a paltry 244 miles over about 4 hours.

At any rate - we're back home and ther schedule is lite. Gymnastics is between sessions now - so it's just an AYSO practice in the afternoon. Saturday just has a birthday party scheduled - so aside from that we have nothing more scheduled. Although our DL APs become good again come sunday (like Rodgers') we're likely to pass since we have another nite away planned for monday. We gotta rest a little before this final trip before school starts on wednesday for the older girl.

Oh for crying out loud.

I have ta agree - I was a bit sad to find that link MISSING to my last posting read! C'mon guys - gring it back already!!!

I found this article on MSNBC today and it made me feel a little nostalgic since much of it reflects the Disneyland I grew up with in the 60's and 70's.

http://cityguides.msn.com/citylife/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5317443&GT1=10269

Yeah ... that's MY memory of the old DL alright!

How horrible for your family members Tom:scared1:

Tom, with over 2000 customers a day, I don't ever expect the day to balance to the penny. I wish it did, but as laong as each shift is within $5 or so I am pleased.:)

They endured Paula. Did I mention how my grandmother had her purse stolen from her in LA while she waited at a bus stop? Or the time my auntie had an attempted car jacking near Christmas time? The guy knocked her down - took her keys and jumped into her Acura Legend only to hear an unexpected sound - the growl of her 140 pound pit bull "Buddy". now Buddy is a really sweet dog who loves people but hates dogs. Well... he took exception with this guy who attacked his "Mom" ... my auntie - and he attacked the guy in the car - and "held" him in the car til the police came. Later the guy tried to SUE my auntie for having a viscious dog with her - but the good judge threw it out of court.

Oh yeah ... lets' not forget that "I" was shot at on the freeway one nite. I was the student union president in college - and had hosted a sizaable dance as a fund raiser. Well... we had some gang members raising a disturbance and my "staff" was reluctant to take action or get the authorites. I stepped in and got security - then I pointed out the disruptive kids. Well.. that evening after the dance we were in a car caravan with friends heading to a cofee shop to hang out and count our money - and at a split in the freeway a car pulled along side and took a hlaf dozen quick shots my way. I had Alicia in the car with me - and the cars behind me saw everything. My car was not hit so it was either blanks or they deliberately missed since they were point blank in distance to me. Low life Punks.

Speaking of which - when I was in hawaii a couple of weeks ago I was a hit and run victim while I drove my rental car. Yeah - good thing the guy didn't HURT me physically. He just dinged my wallet for the repair bill via insurance deductible and likely rental car bill while the car is out of service. I have not seen the final tab - but that's how it goes I guess. sigh!

And we had a shoot out at a jewelry store across the street from my parents' furniture store. Plus we've had a few other instances that are too trivial to recant. ya kno... countless shoplifting attempts plus a few successful thievings at my parents' business. AND - that does not even count the several "pilferings" I've had with bad folks I've had in my business. Oh well... every business has it's shrinkage and losses given enough time and volume, eh?

So - yeah - we get some criminal exposure here in LA. After a while you sort of get used to it in some ways... and you just sort of try to watch your back a little. Especially when making bank runs.

Looks like she is really enjoying the Mickey pool!:goodvibes

That was actually a Carnival cruise - not the Magic or Wonder. We took the carnival thing becasue I had a $500 credit good for Carvnival - and it was getting to a use it or lose it point in time.

Wow.. I shoulda had a celebration when I hit 100 posts here. I cant imagine 30 times that much!

I am actually doing work today(hard to believe)... but not too stressful.

Work from home tomorrow.

Visit my DDs upcoming Kinder teacher for an meet and greet.

Finish Packing.

Go to Atlanic City Friday.

Go to Florida Saturday.

DCL Sunday!

SIL... cheers to you for a weeks worth of smooth sailing - and pleasant conversations over every meal and relaxed moment!

If she is trying all those things, I would not do winter swimming. Let her enjoy trying out new things while she is young. Winter swimming tends to take over your life. Although I must admit, out of all the sports my boys tried, it was the one I did like the best, and the one they ended up sticking with. But a little girl in ballet and music: how fun!!! And I think the Chinese school will be great. That is something the whole family can get involved in.

I agree - it is getting to be a bit much. And yes, the Chinese school is gonna be a fmily thing since I don't speak Mandarin - and that's what they're gonna teach her! So I gotta sit in on most of the classes to learn a bit myself! How do you like that - I got TWO students into the class for the bargain price of ONE student!

Whoo hoo! Just got the official word they are releasing dad from the hospital!

Glad to see this developement! Hope it s all for the better!!!

hey cpt. crash??? if we make them into "trading " cards... using the theme
from the "pirates of the panama canal... "desirable+$$$ ,we could end up
with a "killing" on e-bay? just think-rum filled baby bottles? next thing
you know..the crew be dressing up in "chickens outfits"~ oh, they already
did that, huh?

[edited]

Ooooo.... I like TAHT idea! We could do up some nifty trading cards with all sorts of images from our thread! We could post them to ebay and see if it raises any moola - then spend it on grog while embarked! We could start with maybe this image on ebay!

This image was left mostly blurred to protect those suspected as being "innocent"

Honestly, I did see that, but I wasn't going to "call you out" on it, lest my husband think of some other name to call me.
:guilty:

Thanks for "sparing" me initially - of course - you didn't have to wait long fer me to respond, eh? <chuckles>

OK... now it's time fer me to move along now....

TTFN!

Cap'n Jack! Most excellent!!!

Not an artistic bone in my body, but I do appreciate fine work.

Hey Stace:

I have something FINE and NEW for your consideration... the brand new Nikon D300! It boasts a 12MP 1.5 crop sensor, max 8FPS speed, ISO boost to 6400!, 14 bit color depth, shutter design life of 150,000 actuations, 3" LCD with 922,000 pixels, a weather proofing. It will only set you back $1800 at MFSRP. I'm sure the street price will be a little less.... <snif>

And if that's not exciting enuf fer ya - then how about this baby... it's nikons' first full frame DSLR! The D3! It's only 12 MP ... but with a full sized sensor it has a sensor pitch of 8.45. It shoots only 9-11FPS but it has an extreme sensitivity of ISO 25600!!! This baby will only set you back $5000 ... which means Canon has some serious competition in these two models!

G'mornin' pirate:s !

Today is my last weekday of freedom. I start work on Monday. Am I doing anything fun? No. I'm sitting around waiting for the handyman and the cable guy. I gave the property manager a 'drop dead date' of today to fix all the things that were supposed to be fixed after we did our walk through a month ago. None of the windows open - new paint...painted shut & most of the doors are out of wack & don't close right. We'd just fix these things if it was 1 or 2, but we are talking every door and window in the house! I'm not going to ask for a day off from my new job because they couldn't get their act together in over a month. Well they are finally getting around to it today. The house is in decent shape, it is a first time rental, but it is old - built in 1960. Actually we are the first people to live in the house after the original owners. For the size and area, I think this was pretty spectacular house in 1960. Big bedrooms, 2.5 bath, walk in closets - all pretty rare in 1960. Anyway, nothing fun for me today.

We did make it to the zoo on Wed. and we were going to go to Six Flags yesterday, but DS8 had hockey tryouts at 6:30 pm and given the option, he made the very mature decision to skip Six Flags since he didn't want to be tired for tryouts. I was quite proud of him.

Imagine my horror (and DCL's) when we arrived in Barbados for the very first time ever, and someone had all their undies on a line on their verandah!! It didn't make for the best showing.

I SO would have left a $1.50 in quarters for the dryer in front of their door.

Wow - I didn't even know Univ of Ill was a "party school"! I spent 2 years there - but I was in the college of Engineering and had a VERY full schedule. DH did a little partying during his 2nd year (he is 1 year behind me so we only overlapped 1 year) but back then - about 20 years ago :rotfl2: - Southern Illinois was the serious party school.

Wow, I guess it is hereditary! My folks are both Salukis & my dad went to grad school at U of I.

Actually I always joke that my folks were the most boring college-age people to live through the late '60's. They graduated SIU in 68 & 69, BUT my dad was a Young Republican (IN 1968!) and my mom was an RA for 2 of the 3 years she was in college.

OH MY!!!! Why would anyone put their underwear outside???? They had a bathroom! LOL! Of course dh insists that everyone have at least an extra weeks worth of underwear when we travel --- he got stuck in Mexico for an extra week once (AeroMexico went out of business for a week and then his brother, whom went with him on the business trip, got food poisining). He will never forget washing out his underwear in the sink and then trying to get it to dry! LOL!

My DH once paid something like $45 American for 3 pairs of boxers in an airport in Panama. He was not only stuck, but his luggage was lost.

And about the *first time in Barbados* were you referring to the 11 nt Southern? Because if you were...... we were there the week before with the 10nt Southern.... ;)

Me too, NEW NEW NEW. Always spend to much money just to go on vacation. Have to buy new underwear and sock for everyone. Well not EVERYONE just the ones in our family.
:rotfl:

Aw shucks, I was going to send you my order. ;)

Underwear is expensive!
Sorry kids, no new underwear this year - we're saving for TOAL.

Pamela (pdarrah)

It was still on demand on our system last night.
