Hi Gang!
I've been off line for a while. Thought I'd pop my head in the door and say ARGH! Busy with the final plans for our WDW trip in a few weeks - so I'll probably be pretty scarce until Sep - when we return.

Pete - looking forward to the mini-meet! We'll be there.

Not much going on. DS10 is off at church camp. DS6 is off at Grandma and Grandpa's (flys home tomorrow). And DH and I have been bumping around a very quiet (and clean) house this week. We actually went on a date last night to see Harry Potter! Imagine. A movie. In a theater! :rotfl:

Well, that's the news. Hope everyone is doing well. I think I'll go take a look at the last few pages to try and ketchup. I'm definitly NOT going back the over 100 pages I'm behind and starting from page 4476. Sorry, but no.

Everyone seems to be going WDW. :sad1: :sad1: Wish I could go. Not only going to the movie theater but going without kids !:) popcorn::

Aww tina.... If you could make it to FL the 22nd of August, i'd let you stay in the other bedroom of our 2 bedroom...

They gave us a 2 bd and we only have dd with us...

Hi Esteri -
I know you're flight on 9/1 is 2:30 - so what time are you leaving WDW? As you know Laura, Monica & I are arriving on 9/1 from the WB repo and were hoping to have a mini-meet w/all that are in FLA. then. Since we arrive really early - we can do an early meet. Julie, Pam & Todd have really early flights so they would have to pass.
Arlene - of course - has calendared everyone's itineraries! And 9/1 is David's 40th B'day - now that is special!!

OH - FYI - a few pages back we talked about a CA mini-meet at DL weekend of March 14 - Todd & family will be there to celebrate his B'day and a number of us signed on.
Enjoy your vacation!!

...and a lovely pitcure it is. I think the "ear" makes the photo complete :goodvibes .

I'm going to say the one on the left will be done first. The colors are much more brilliant whereas the colors on the right just seems more difficult, Me thinks

Oh, these lyrics just make me want to post........

:hippie: :hippie: :hippie: :hippie: :hippie: :hippie: :hippie:

Ok, so I understand you not wanting the chicken soup, Andy. So, how 'bout some ribs, cornbread and potatoe salad??? Or, maybe just some morphin and a nice pillow??? Seriously, hope you feel better tomorrow :grouphug:

Now that meal I can handle!!! :thumbsup2 Just took my last meds for the night, so I'm getting ready to turn in for the night. Yea, drugs and a pillow, my kind of night!!!

Hey Roger, I was deleting some of my subscribed threads last week and came up with a thread that started in Jan about the unannounced plans for bringing the Magic out to Ca and lo and behold it was yours!!!!!I guess you can say you started the excitement about this and blew their cover :lmao:

Yes Arlene I am the one that started it all. I went back and found that thread recently and could not beleive all of the names that I did not know then that are friends now. These posts are not in order so they may not make any since but are the first utterings of our Repo family.

DCL coming to LA for summer 2008?
________________________________________
I have been following with great interest in anticipation of the 2008 itinerary announcement. Well I could not believe that some kind of news has not been discovered as to the 2008 itineraries. So being the internet person that I am, I went in search of an answer. After hours of searches I came across this which answers all of our questions. According to the linked permit from the Port of Los Angeles, DCL (otherwise known as Magical Cruise Company) has been granted a permit for conducting business out of the Port of Los Angeles from May 1, 2008 through September 15, 2008 for the purpose of family cruises to Mexico.

Yaa Hoooo!! No airfare required next summer

It DOES say "For weeklong cruises to Mexico".

Can't say as I'm 100% thrilled to be doing the Mexican Riviera again (we did it with Disney last time) but I'm TOTALLY thrilled to have one of DCL's ships this close to home!! I'll go anywhere they go!!

I was thinking this was probably the reason. Good detective work.

Now I just need to dedide if I want to go or not. I don't really like Mexico cruises. Haven't done DCL there, but I've done other lines.

The 2004 one was 1pm EST 6pm here in the UK,, I think the Med ones were the same.

For the Med ones DCL teased us on their website for aobut two weeks before, on the Panama I remeber a tip off from the Webmaster about a week or so inadvance.

Look out for press events schdules in WDW or DL, this one most likly would be DL CL now, they have released them on the day of press events before, remember its DCL's birthday so there might be a special one in the middle????

Having just read this thread I am a little perplexed as to why posts are suggesting that the Magic will be doing the 2008 West coast cruises.

Surerly, following that the Magic did them in 2005, the Wonder did the speciality cruises in 2006, the Magic is heading back to her birthplace this year, I would have thought that on that basis alone, the Wonder will be heading for the Panama Canal next year !!

Any thoughts ?

I booked a dummy date in 8/06 while onboard with the plan to change to 8/08 Western. I am not that interested in the ports in Mexico, but would take advantage of having the ship closer to us. Or maybe we could swing the repo if it sails eastbound before Labor Day. Either way, I will be interested to see what happens when the announcement is actually made.

Until then, thinking about the Disney cruise is as close as I'll get for at least 1 1/2 years, so...:teleport:

Well...

... we're excited with this developement! Perhaps we'll consider the Panama Canal voyages coming or going... and as a 3rd consideration we'll look into the regular sailings R/t to Mexico! We're just an easy 60 minute drive from the ports!

Cheers for the sleuth work!

I am so thrilled by this news. I've been away from the board for awhile so I decided to stop by today and check out the latest. We have been hoping the Magic would come back to L.A., but I wasn't expecting it. We would love to do the repo if we can manage to be away that long and make it work around the kid's school schedule. If not, we will most definitely do one of the 7 day cruises. I know many here give it mixed reviews, but we have done the Mexican Riviera twice now and we liked it each time. There is still plenty that we would like to see and do at the ports there. It doesn't really matter though. We just want back on the Magic!!

Several were talking about transportation. We stayed right at the airport at Embassy Suites which was very nice and convenient without being noisy. We had made a prearranged time with Prime time shuttle. They were precisely on time, drove sanely, and were also there to pick us up when we got off the ship. I highly recommend them. They were very reasonable. All 6 of us went for around the same price as DCL transfers for one.

Got it and taken care of.....
Thanks!!! Tom I owe you a drink.:drinking1

Booked this trip April 4th 2006, and nearly here!!!:thumbsup2

See dreams do come true!!!!:cloud9:

Yes, Andy, you take care of yourself and get better . . . hopefully I will make a guest appearance on Laura's blog ("Julie -- bellelinus-- was completely plastered today and tried to tango with Mickey" -- whether it's true or not!) . . .

I have been reading the blog.:thumbsup2 It is hilarious!!!:lmao: I will be waiting for your guest appearance!!!:woohoo:

Hey....what about me!!!???

Don't worry about it. I know you're just about out of your mind with anticipation. See you on the 18th!

We could never forget you Monica.:flower3:

Julie, I mean this in the nicest possible way: I hate you...:cheer2:

If I ever win the lottery I could take a trip like this, but until then I guess I have to live vicariously through my friends. :rotfl: Have a great trip.

I have the same feelings!!!!:goodvibes Maybe in my next life I will make it to Europe.:cloud9:

Also wanted to mention that when he got the gift, he said what about dinner with Cheryl & John.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Told him that was all part of the plan.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Thanks for helping me surprise him !

Mark it down!!!! :woohoo: This was the first time I kept a secret.:lmao: :lmao:

My dumb dial-up posted three times!!!! Sorry!!!

Everyone seems to be going WDW. :sad1: :sad1: Wish I could go. Not only going to the movie theater but going without kids !:) popcorn::

You're not alone Tina with these setiments...

... although we do a few small things every now and then ... they're prety low intensity things. AND we have not really had any real sort of date in about 6 years. Although I vaguely recall we might have had a few hours to ourselves some time a year or so ago. So - no, we don't do dates anymore. Nor have we been to WDW much. Of course, we have DL where we are - but our APs are blacked out for the summer.

Hi everyone
I just found the new website recently.

I read this on the website:

I laughed out loud at the bolded (by me) part. WHAT? No pink or lime green shirts? Well the nerve.
Can we pay extra to have EXTRA shirts made in different colors without driving up the prices for everyone else? (ie: us paying the extra cost ourselves)?
Man, y'all are really going to force me to wear black aren't you. :sad2:

Anyway, just saying hi and hope everyone is doing well. :)

Glad you found us again Bip!!!:goodvibes Hope you are doing well!!!:flower3:

Get some rest - and let yourself heal a bit Andy

Great idea Crash!!!! Andy needs to rest!!!!!!:grouphug:

By the way Crash........did you notice I learned how to post a cake.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

It was taken off, but we had copied it to the website first.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

So I am not thrilled with the additional government charge of $100 per person and I don't understand why it only applies to those who haven't paid in full. This charge applies to everyone regardless of age. :sad2: I am curious what is the actual charge to DCL. $100 a passenger is too round a figure; just to neat for me.

I guess we will never know!!!!:sad1: DCL never learns from their mistakes!!!:confused3

Anyone know why the kuddos for Webmaster Kathy on the Community Board? A couple of people made reference to the last 48 hours. What the heck did I miss (again)? :confused3
Kathy lives a couple miles away from me but I have not run into her recently.

I know nothing!!!!!!:confused3 :confused3

This is one of my favorite pics of Chuck "the birthday boy" and his "lovely bride" Tina(aka: castoff). Oh yea, and that's my mom's ear in the photo as well............:lmao:

It worked! I'm only moderately graphic challenged!:lmao:

I was completely computer challenged but thanks to Tom I am only moderately now!!!!

I'm so excited that I had to share - I just bought a "Paris City Hop On Hop Off Tour" and a Paris Museum pass. I fly out on Aug. 14 to Paris prior to the EB repo. It seems even more real now - and I'm not nearly ready!!
Back to reality!

I need details all about Paris!!!! :cloud9: Did I tell you I am so jealous but happy for you!!!:woohoo:

good evening everyone!! hope you are having a great day!

I will tomorrow because its Friday!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi Esteri......Glad to see you posting. We miss your pirate jokes!!!!:goodvibes

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone again for the encouragement when I was wrestling with the decision on taking my mom or my misbehaving son on my Med trip. I made the decsion to take my mom and it is even more reinforced now. She called me tonight to say she decided to go and what was holding her back was worry about my son. She felt like she should stay home to help take care of him and I should go with a friend. See, that's what motherhood is all about. I love my mom and now I am so glad I get to do this for her. I have assured her that my son will be fine. The rest of the family will be home to help him out if needed. But I have every confidence in my friend who will be watching him.

I get to take my mom to Europe...:cool1:
Now maybe I'll be able to convince her to keep her ressie on this trip. She's booked but we forgot that next year is our family reunion. And next year is our turn to plan it all. But once she experiences a Disney cruise, she may get hooked. She's already been on 8 cruises, just no DCL.
I'm glad you were able to make a decision and feel good about the decision you made. :) :)

But anyway, I am not doing this at all anymore. I have handed all of the website info over to Tom to do whatever he wants with it. My wife and I decided to cancel this cruise last evening. It's been fun chatting with most of you.

Oh
My
Goodness.
I'm so sad. :(

Ok this is just weird. I'm watching (sort of) a show on Food Network and they are highlighting amusement park food. I'm not sure what park they are at, but they are showing taco pizza...it's got spicy ground beef, cheese, then lettuce is thrown on after the pizza cooks???? That's just too odd for me.
They make that at Cici's here and it's actually very good. BBQ pizza is even better. ;) You think that's weird- my youngest DD's favorite pizza is MACARONI AND CHEESE. Yes, you heard right. That's pizza with mac & cheese on it instead of pizza (red) sauce. Sounds disgusting, but she's not much of a pizza eater but she'll eat that kind!

Just peeking my head in to say hi to all! I want to see if it's safe to post again.

Paula, nice pics from Hawaii!

Talk to you all soon.
Just quoting this so after I post I can finally PM Pete... LOL (IOW I don't want to have to hunt down his username again)

I look forward to meeting you, Shelly on the TOAL!!! Sending LOTS of PD your way :wizard: :wizard:

p.s. nice to see you posting again!!

thank you and right back atcha! I hope to meet you too! I don't like thinking negatively but I also have to think realistically. I am just not doing as well on saving for this cruise as I thought I would be. Too many extra costs coming on us consistently combined with not as much overtime as Jeff usually gets = not looking so good... adding another $500 to what I have to save is just another kick in the ... well you know. LOL We are just having some bad luck lately. From needing new tires to brake issues, plus so much money being poured into Jeff's Harley that at this point he's about given up on it and that is saying a LOT (he wanted that thing for almost 2 decades and now he's getting fed up with it??? that tells you what kind of money we've had to put into it to keep it running), to some fence issues because of the new neighbors replacing the fence but leaving a huge gap underneath the majority of the fence and then they graded their land higher than ours to meet that gap then they put dirt there with rocks over it- that's what we see under the gap now and we'll probably end up in court over this because it's illegal to change your land to make your rain runoff into someone else's yard and that's exactly what they've done- so now we're having flooding issues everytime it rains because now all their runoff runs into our land and causes flooding issues (on our grassy areas, in our pool, up on our ground level patio, almost into the house, etc.) and we're getting quotes on how to try to fix this issue plus now build a retaining wall where the gap is (and then probably go to court to make them pay for the costs), etc. etc. It's just all adding up and I'm starting to get a little worried that if our bad luck doesn't end soon we're not going to have enough saved for this cruise! All we've paid so far is the deposits for all of us and not getting much saved to pay the rest off in May!
But I sure do hope we can still go because we're not going on vacation anywhere this summer and the kids know this is to save up for the cruise next year. It's going to be sad to then not be able to go on the cruise. Yanno? I will seriously get depressed... and they won't be happy campers either. LOL

On the disney site there is a place to design and personalize your own shirts. I think it's called Zazzle?
Hmm, will check it out. But they let you put logos on there? I thought that was the problem we had originally- finding someone who would allow us to print the logo on there.

Glad you found us again Bip!!!:goodvibes Hope you are doing well!!!:flower3:
Aww thanks- I am doing okay.. thanks for asking!

I did some catching up- atleast for the last month or so and whoo doggy... have I missed a lot. I will try to keep up with the board better. It's just really hard in the summer with the kids here all day and so much going on. I'll be able to post more consistently and keep up with reading the posts when school starts again in about a month.

Again my dumb dial-up......

BTW... you don't maintain a dedicated 2nd phone line for the dial up - do you Cheryl/John? Either way - the DSL and cable modem costs are getting pretty competitive with dial up costs in some cases. And aside from cost - the TIME you save moving around the internet buys you time and changes the whole experience.

I remeber the original motive for upgrading the speed for us was I wanted to be able to reload ebay pages when the auctions were in thier closing moments. ONE experience on a high speed line wt my friends' place convinced me that we had to step up the speed.

I vaguely recall we had a conversation on this a few weeks ago - but I felt like airing these ideas (again).

<silent grins?>

Hi all!

I am pulling a Capt Crash and typing in the dark. DH and DD14 are stil asleep although I have been up after only 5 1/2 hrs of sleep. I am trying to force myself to adjust.

We arrived in Barcelona at 6:40 their time- 10:40 PST. I have updated our blog which I hope I have inserted into the sig line right. If not, I have the back portion right - just change the front part if its wrong.

OK amazing how small the rooms are but even so, I  it. It is so European. What is not so nice is the TP which DH complained about right away. As I mentioned on the other thread I just checked, me? I believe in doing as the Romans did - you all know those little "foot washers"? ( :lmao: ) well, "When in Rome........." :rotfl2:

Anyway, I am getting dressed as both DH and I forgot some things - namely the travel adaptors that we left sitting at the foot of the bed each thinking that the other would put it in a suitcase for us. Darn it - oh well. Off we go. The good part is that there is a pharmacy drugstore right next door. El Cortes Ingles just around the corner about 5 minutes away and I may be hoofing it alone as my room is still dark and I haven't even attempted calling our other room yet.

Had fun getting here which I have updated in my blog. EVERYONE - have a great next couple of days as I anticipate not being able to get my DIS fix due to poor connectability on the Magic. Oh well, hope everyone here is doing fine.

I have the same feelings!!!!:goodvibes Maybe in my next life I will make it to Europe.:cloud9:

i5C1C80D0-29FD-40C5-A9F9-8AECE1D2A8F3.jpg

There are several low cost travel agencies advertising in Art Frommers' Budget Travel magazine - and this one (which shall remain unmentioned publiclyout of consideration for our sponser, DU) has an advertised $599 rate for air + 6 nites hotel in Paris. This rate assumes double occupancy, and mid week travel on certain low intensity dates. It also excludes taxes, transfers, meals, insurance, and gateways other than NYC.

SO adjusting for a CHicago, IL departure, adding taxes, and traveling on Mondays - November 19th 2007 for example results in a $1,536 total. That's not too bad - except the one star tourist grade hotels are (IMO) very scary and cheap. Transfers by train from CDG to Paris are easy if ya don't mind hauling your luggage to the train platform outside to an area comparable to a taxi stop at a US airport. I don't know what it costs off hand but with the weak dollar I would not be surprised if it cost $35 pp... and that would be less than a taxi or shuttle bus.

Meals can be pretty cheap if you can refrain from dining in joints with Michelin Star ratings. In fact I remember we would dine at one star places that were "cheap" for under $35pp.... and in the Latin Quarter for less than $10 pp.

Entertainment and museums are interesting and varied. Half pride ticket booths for theater events are reasonable - and the walking and browsing is free. One thing I always enjoied was riding their Metro around. AND ... the last time we were there my SIL was accosted by a clutch of teens who burgled - or mugged without being physically injured. They just went over and sort of cornered her in the Metro and rifled through her purse openly and ran off with her wallet. Brazen really. I was not there but at the hotel as I tend to watch folks in our party closely - and the folks with my SIL were all looking at a Metro map when this happened.

SO - adventure awaits you for your visit to Paris some day! If ya wanna know which TA this is I'm quoting - PM me or pick up a copy of Budget Travel and flip through. Only a few are as cheap as this!

Museo_del_Prado.jpg

Laura - will your familybe visiting the Museo Del Prado? This was one place I enjoied visiting the last time I was there. And be sure to let us know what you think of authentic Spanish Tapas dining. Oh how I wish I were there in Barcelona with you guys! Such adventure!!!

Have a blast!!!.... but remember to stay safe! Of all the cities I visited when I went alone to Europe - the Spanish cities were places where I was a told to be a little defensive. Low intensity crime was rumored to persist. HAH I used to think! I'm from Los Angeles and have been SHOT at - burgled and felt I could hold my own in general in any "regular" city on the planet.

Oh well....

Have a blast as I'm sure you're gonna... !!!

Time for me to carry the kids off to bed now...

Hi Tom! Got a late night walk on Las Ramblas last night. I felt ok - it wasn't as crowded as I thought but then again - it was Thursday. I was on the alert and didn't feel too funny except for once. Felt this girl behind was a bit too slow. I turned and put the girls in front of me and then when I parted them she slipped by and walked off. So she just may have been walking behind us as we were kinda spread out horizontally.

I think I am in  with Barcelona. And while I love DH - sorry - there is an abundance of cute, hunky blondes out here. SIGH! If I was 20 years younger and single, I'd come out here and find me a Spaniard to marry! I just love that Spanish accent. Think Antonia Bandaras but blonde here.

SIGH! I'd better get off now before I am discovered and ratted out! ROTFL!

Later all - off to the drugstore!
