Hi everyone. Our magic bands arrived today. I have a question. We have the memory maker included in our package do I have to do anything to link our magic bands to our memory maker? We may split up so I want everyone to be able to get the pictures added to the account. We are all linked together. I am just a little nervous with all the new technology.

Thanks so much

Hi All,

Looking into our first stay YC CL or BC CL this coming June. Have stayed YC and BC in past in regular rooms and love resorts. Are there any rehabs going on at either resort during our time of travel--specifically lounge area?

Thanks!

Hello All!

We haven't stayed at the YC for a few years..we usually stick with AKL but we are staying there for 2 stays in May, so thought I would change it up.

I have a garden view booked..anyone have any experience with 3147? I like that it's close to the lobby and activity..but wonder about the noise.

TIA

Ok so I really don't want to post something negative but I seriously want to know. A few years back the ONLY bad thing about our trip was getting eaten up by some sort of bug. We LOVED sitting out on our balcony but at the end of the night my legs would be completely bit up (this was in the month of May). It was so bad that at one point I went to the front desk as I thought it was bed bugs but they checked into it and said the room was fine, and it must be sand fleas from SAB? Has anyone had an issue, and if so what works against this pesky nuisance? Regular bug spray?

Thanks so much!!!

Nope!

IMHExperience I have never had trouble with the WIFI at any Disney RESORT including the BC. As for the hotel Wifi it's always worked great for me at Pop, CBR, POR, and the BC.

The MDE phone APP disaster via your phone in the parks is another story with slow to no functionality.

To help you keep what I am about to tell you straight you need to understand that I am talking about two different things: A) The non functioning PHONE APP for My Disney Experience (MDE) and B) the Disney web site that has a My Disney Experience page that you can use.

Phone APP MDE = BAD/non functioning (for many people)
Web site MDE = mostly works (for most people)

Your best bet is to make changes to FP+ on your device (computer/tablet) in your room ON the Disney Web site portal to the MDE page and NOT on the fly in the parks with your phone trying to access the MDE phone APP.

Again this is my experience with a Verizon/GalaxyS4 phone last March and EVERY other trip with other smart phones versions I have owned. I suspect that ATT subscribers are the few people that the "in park Wifi" actually works correctly for. Since I can never get the Free Disney Wifi to load pages quickly or even at all I never use the free WIFI at the Disney parks and always access the net via Verizon on my Verizon phone.

As an aside, with more and more of your Disney "experience" is becoming dependent on pre-made online reservations, it pays to be able to "prove" that you have that FP+ or Dining reservation in the event that there are problems with Disney's computers. I had an experience where I had a FP+ for Big Thunder Mountain and the Mickey head tap style would not turn green even though I was within my time window.

~I was able to show the CM the reservation on my phone (After it took the MDE APP page an eternity to load I gave up and went to the web site to access the page) and they finally let me through.~

So the moral of this story is to know how to access those pages on your phone, when IN the parks to Prove that you have the FP+/Dining reservation ~~~ either by using the non functioning MDE phone APP or by going to the Disney Web page and logging into the MDE section via the web PAGE and not the APP in the event of a system hang up.

Based upon all the incidental reports of occasional long lines at the FP+ Mickey Head tap styles I'm thinking that more than a few people are having problems with the system not accurately recognizing their legitimate FP+ and it's not tons of people trying to scam the system like you see people on the Dis whining about.

My boys really helped me figure all this out so I thought I would pass this info/experience off to you...

~NM

thanks- this is really useful info

I hate sand fleas. I remember having to deal with them many years ago when I lived in Pensacola.

All sorts of Vermin just LOVE to nibble on Ninja Mom. I have to say that being outdoors in Florida, if you are outside long enough you are possibly going to get bit by something. I favor staying out late at night in the parks and I have been bit in just about every month of the year doing just that, so the bugs are not partial to just the BC/YC/BCV resort.

These bites are the intensely itchy, what the heck bit me kind of bites that last for DAYS. You can find me easily in the parks because I will be the one standing on one leg while I scratch with the other one.

Yeah sure I could petroleum up with the latest in bug repellent bio hazard chemicals but I usually forgo that and try to remember the itching medicine after the fact.

One day after I will my tired and wrecked body to medical science, they are going to discover a cure to these Disney/Florida bug bites just from the venom that circles in my veins alone.

This is my contribution to humanity, well that and the inside the egg shell egg scrambler that Ron Popeil stole from me.... :sad2:

I had memory maker on my trip in March. I thought only my magic band had it on but the entire family had it linked. I did nothing to make that happen. It was automatic. Every night I would go online and look at the photos it was a great purchase. I loved it.

We told the kids last night! They were super excited and helped me switch out and change a couple of dining reservations :yay:. They are very happy to be staying at the BC, and super grateful as Disney was not on our vacations plans this year. Feeling happy. Time to get a countdown!

Haha!!! We told out kids last night too! I put their MBs in big Easter eggs. They were super shocked since we were just there in Oct. I am super excited that now I can pack somewhere other than the attic. Lol

Nope! When I'm in Florida my phone roams on ATT. It's not Verizon. I can bring up MDE at parks in the early morning but when parks start getting busier around 11:00 on forget about trying to get on MDE. I think the wifi just gets overloaded from the shear volume.

I have learned to take screen shots in the morning before I leave the room.

No, we had a standard view booked last Aug. But it's best generally to not request a certain room # and put in your request what your looking for! as far as view, floor, near elevator, etc. You prob know this though :goodvibes

We checked in at 9:30am this morning. I was so excited to see the lovely Teena meeting in the lobby! So nice to meet her and have a wonderful visit! We are are in our room at the Beach and looking forward for a wonderful 3 days!

Thanks for letting us know about your visit. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

:goodvibes

That is so cool! We tried to hold out once but we broke under pressure. :confused3. Enjoy.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE.

Just finishing our first major holiday without my Dad or my Mother in Law.
We are learning to live life while remembering them.

Thanks disboards for giving me a place to talk.

YO

Anytime. Lots of sympathetic ears here.

:grouphug:

If they stopped doing the "Haunted" part of the carriage ride I can hide in the bushes and jump out and yell boo at you.

All that for free too, so don't pay any up charge on the carriage ride that Disney would try to charge you...

Hello everyone. :)

My hubby and I (Tom & Patti) have reservations for a garden view room at the Yacht Club, November 9-15. We had originally began our planning looking at POFQ - but after considering how awesome it is to be able to walk to Epcot & MGM, we went ahead and booked YC. We'll be celebrating 30 years of marriage this November - a stay at the YC is a splurge for us. (Hoping to apply a room only discount once they come out - our air is booked - so we're going either way).

Please add us to the list of happy people planning a stay at YC/BC. :cool1::cool1:

Thank you for this informative thread!! Hope you all had a nice Easter. :)

:welcome: and Happy Anniversary!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:cool1:

Hello from the YC! We have been having a great time. On Saturday, we went to MK. The lines were great. They even let us tide some rides 2x in a row. So different from XMAS! Yesterday we did DHS. Once again the lines were great. We barely needed our Fp selections. We r staying in GV room on CL. Our room is fine. We watched a wedding this morning. Mickey and Minnie were there. It was so sweet. Off to EPCOT today.

Thanks for checking in with us. Have fun!

:goodvibes

So, seeming as I mentioned the darkside in the post above, it's time to admit......I have booked a night on the darkside. Yeah, those pesky FOTL passes got me :lmao:

Which resort on the darkside?

:)

:welcome:

Should I pencil you in on the Be Our Guest list for June?

Although official start dates for the anticipated Beach Club lounge and room renovations have not been announced, we don't believe that the refurbs will start as early as June. It is looking like very late summer or early fall. Yacht Club renovations are not expected to start until all of the work at the BC is done.

:thumbsup2

When is your trip?

I am not really too familiar with the layout of the rooms at the YC, but I doubt that there are any rooms that would be affected by lobby noise and activities (if this assumption is wrong, please let me know folks)

Pool noise shouldn't be an issue with a garden view.

As other have suggested, describe the location of room you would like in words so the room assigners can best meet your request.

Bumping this up, since I am curious if others have had issues.

I have not been bothered by sand fleas or any insects during our July trips, but then again, I don't spend any time by the sand bar area of the pool or the beach area.

Today, the 22nd, is our 60 day mark. However, I had no intention of staying up until midnight. I was just going to make them in the morning. I woke at 2 and couldn't go back to sleep. I was in a Disney dream state. So, I got up and worked some FP+ magic. All initial FP+ bookings for our week in late June have been made. It took almost an hour using the iPhone; the app is a little clunky. Many, if not all, of my FP+ schedule is subject to change based on: changes to the system, like more and hopping; 7DMT; and, availability of Wishes and parades at MK. Illuminations was available now, so I grabbed that for one night.

Last summer stayed at YC standard room. We had the rooms right over the main entrance with a giant patio/ balcony which since we had 3 rooms it was great since we could all sit out there in the mornings and have breakfast. This year we are staying at BC standard. What should I request as far as location..I know not all rooms have balconies so that will be one of my request.

When is your trip? :cool1:

I don't see you listed on the Be Our Guest list.

Sounds like what you want to request is "Full balcony, please. If possible, rooms close to X party and Y party. Shared balcony preferred"

Not sure if that is even an option, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask if they can fit all of that on your request.

Hi all, I've been a lurker up until now and just wanted to share our travel dates. We'll be at YC GV from June 19-30. I am getting super excited, especially now that we're less than 60 days out! We had originally planned on BC, but we were able to get a 35% discount with the summer offer for YC and only 25% for BC, so that was a no-brainer. This thread has been very informative and a lot of fun to read, and a great outlet for when my DH gets sick of me talking about WDW. Thanks!

Hi Cupmom. Wondering if you could answer a few questions for me. We are staying at the YC in August and were interested in the rooms right over the front portico but were under the impression it was shared between 4 rooms? Do you remember if it's 3 or 4 rooms its shared between. Did you stay on floor 3 or 4? Also, did you request those rooms ahead of time or were they just randomly assigned to you? Any info would be helpful as we are a family traveling together and my daughter is bringing my infant granddaughter so we thought the ability to have that large shared balcony only for our family would be fantastic. Thanks!

UGH I'm the same way! And you are right, whatever bug bites they are, are extremely itchy. I heard that bugs bother you based on blood type... not sure if it's true but I always get covered in bites on my legs and it's really annoying. I'm thankful for your anti itch cream tip, I will definitely add that to my list! Oh and I Know they are not exclusive to the Beach/Yacht club but it seems like I get most on our balcony and that's what we look forward to almost as much as Disney itself. We love unwinding there at night with some wine!

Called to book a room for Pres Day week 2015. ALL pool/lagoon view rooms were unavailable, including Club level. Do you suppose blocked off for conventions or could this be for room refurb?
