Ok, I'm freaking out. I just heard from "that travel agency" we have been referring to on this board about the Labor Day special, and it turns out they now have a standard view room available for our dates in August....I have a Garden View room booked for late August, with NO DISCOUNT...couldn't get the summer offer OR the Bounceback...have been waiting for the AP rates to be released. SOO, the price is almost $1000.00 LESS than what we are paying for rack rate, can you believe that??

I just want to hear from anyone (Ninja?) who has used them before (it's room only), pros and cons, and if I will have any trouble linking my reservation and all that such nonsense. I hate to give up my view, but for $1,000, it's not even a question...
Thanks!!
Linda :)

When is your trip? :cool1: I don't see you listed on the Be Our Guest list. Sounds like what you want to request is "Full balcony, please. If possible, rooms close to X party and Y party. Shared balcony preferred" Not sure if that is even an option, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask if they can fit all of that on your request.

I am not looking for a shared balcony but do want one...I am wondering where the standard rooms located at BC. We are checking in August 15-22

Hi Cupmom. Wondering if you could answer a few questions for me. We are staying at the YC in August and were interested in the rooms right over the front portico but were under the impression it was shared between 4 rooms? Do you remember if it's 3 or 4 rooms its shared between. Did you stay on floor 3 or 4? Also, did you request those rooms ahead of time or were they just randomly assigned to you? Any info would be helpful as we are a family traveling together and my daughter is bringing my infant granddaughter so we thought the ability to have that large shared balcony only for our family would be fantastic. Thanks!

There are 4 rooms that share the balcony. We had the center 2 rooms. Not sure what floor we were on but I'm think it was the 4th floor. We did not request it because we didn't even know it exisisted. We had booked to standard rooms.. The other 2 rooms never used the balcony so it was quiet.

I used them last August and again this coming August. Had no problem linking anything and was able to mange everything through disney app...dining, fast passed etc...good luck!

No worries, we used them last summer and are using them again this summer. We had no issues whatsoever linking anything in MDE. The only thing to note is that you can't talk directly to Disney regarding your reservations until you check in. All communications with regard to your reservation except any MDE linking/fastpass choices, etc., goes through your travel agent. Totally worth the discount!

Last question Cupmom, do you remember if either room you had had a daybed or a chair? All this and we probably won't get the rooms anyhow but we are going to try to request them. :) Thanks again.

I'm using them this August.. I had my resort confirmation within minutes of my Agent booking & I was able to log into my MDE account and see that all was as requested :)
Everything has been just as though I'd booked online myself - I've made all my ADRs (at180+10). I've also customized my Magic Bands & am not so patiently waiting on my 60 day window to open for FP booking.

My trip priced out on the Disney website was in excess of $4300. I paid half that with the TA!

So far I'm a very happy girl :)

I have a dumb question. I know BCV studios have the 4-cup drip coffeemakers...do standard size basket coffee filters (those that work for 8-12 cup) work also in those smaller machines? I have only seen the small machines in hotels and they always had those all-in-one pods...

Yes, I am fixating on getting my coffee...a real reach but I need something to fixate on with 6.5 months to go!

I am using "the travel agency" for late August YC and have a great experience so far. The deal is just too good to pass up and so far I've had all the access I had when booking directly thru Disney site. Can't wait to add those FP+ ressies in the next couple mths. We even added park hoppers for a great price to the package. I'd use them again in a heartbeat!

I tried to search and couldn't find anything, in the Marketplace do they sell packs of sliced cheese? If so anyone have an idea the cost? Also gogurt yogurts or similar and what's the price of bananas?

When is your trip?

I am not really too familiar with the layout of the rooms at the YC, but I doubt that there are any rooms that would be affected by lobby noise and activities (if this assumption is wrong, please let me know folks)

Pool noise shouldn't be an issue with a garden view.

As other have suggested, describe the location of room you would like in words so the room assigners can best meet your request.

:scratchin

July 18-20 .. I have been in several rooms.. But usually just with whatever I get.

doesn't show prices and it's from 2012, but pretty sure they still have cheese and banana's. The MarketPlace has a pretty good selection of grocery items especially since BCV is there.

UGH I'm the same way! And you are right, whatever bug bites they are, are extremely itchy. I heard that bugs bother you based on blood type...

Ninja Mom's blood type is rumored to be Jelly Donut.

This will be my first time using them but I agree with what everyone else is saying. So far I am very happy and I have no reason to expect anything different.

As for the view you are not giving much up because there are lots of nooks and crannies to enjoy at the resort. Even when I am not staying at the resort I will drop in for a visit and pull up a chair outside of Beaches and Cream with a take out window cone or stop by the Solarium with a cup of chowder from the Market Place or even with fish and chips that I dragged over from England. I always enjoy cruising the Market Place and the store over at the Yacht Club during these drive by visits. Why heck!! I've even hung out in the lobby of the Yacht Club enjoying a Sunken Treasure.

I can see taking an adult beverage and some snacks out to the chairs on the lake and hanging out there in the twilight hours, in fact not having a "view" might be the motivation I need to drag my butt out for a short walk and hit those lake side lounge chairs on the beach that I always look at longingly as I run from here to there.

I am starting to visualize what my August trip is going to be like and I'm thinking that my mornings are going to be leisurely hang outs at the resort and Storm Along Bay with breakfast and bed head over at the bakery in France. Those lounge chairs on the lake are calling my name and this trip I'm going to acknowledge that their views blow away any balcony view and get my butt out there.

@ Nannette- thanks for posting that link

I have a grocery order form/price list from March 2013. According to this form:

Kraft Cheese: American Slices 8 slices for $3.95

For yogurt, I see Dannon Yogurt Mixed Berry, 6 oz for $1.99- I don't see gogurt listed.

Bananas, and other fruit (apples, oranges, grapefruit) are listed at $1.49 each

Hi all, I've been a lurker up until now and just wanted to share our travel dates. We'll be at YC GV from June 19-30. I am getting super excited, especially now that we're less than 60 days out! We had originally planned on BC, but we were able to get a 35% discount with the summer offer for YC and only 25% for BC, so that was a no-brainer. This thread has been very informative and a lot of fun to read, and a great outlet for when my DH gets sick of me talking about WDW. Thanks!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:cool1:

Glad to hear you are enjoying the thread.

Called to book a room for Pres Day week 2015. ALL pool/lagoon view rooms were unavailable, including Club level. Do you suppose blocked off for conventions or could this be for room refurb?

I don't know the answer to this, but I'm pretty sure that they are not blocking off rooms at the YC for the refurb yet. They haven't even started at BC and since the timeline is not in place, I think it is unlikely they are looking that far ahead.

Are other room views available for this week?

:)

June 17-22 BC (Son's birthday) then going to AKL until 26th

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the clarification on your dates.

:yay:

Standard view rooms have a view of a parking lot or roof-tops. Most of the parking lot view rooms are at the front entrance side of the resort, the same side as the bus pickup and dropoff. The rooms with rooftop views are scattered throughout the resort.

I totally understand the need to get answers about the coffee situation as soon as possible. :surfweb:

I would think the regular filters would work, but you may need to cut or fold them down. What I usually do is bring Maxwell House coffee pods so I don't have to bother with loose coffee and filters. They make 4 cups each and you can use one or two depending on the size of the carafe and the strength of the coffee you want.

:thumbsup2

Do you have an upcoming trip to the YC/BC/BCV scheduled?

I answered your question about the Marketplace items in a separate post.

Hi, I just got my ticker and am excited so I thought I would ask what the chances are of a full balcony at the BC. Its our family's one priority.

Hi, I just got my ticker and am excited so I thought I would ask what the chances are of a full balcony at the BC. Its our family's one priority.

Since ~50% of the rooms have a full balcony and ~50% have the "Juliet" balcony, I'd say you have a ~50-50 chance. :rotfl::rotfl2:

If it is your #1 priority, I would make that your only request.

Thank you for all your efforts on our behalf. It is greatly appreciated. I am not a coffee drinker, but my wife is in serious need before speaking, or breathing :-). I assume from your response that, unlike staying in a resort room where mouse-keeping visits daily, the BCV guests are not regularly/daily supplied coffee packets. Which means we need to buy some coffee packets for the room; or, I run down and fill her refillable mug first thing in the morning. Am I correct in this assumption?
