I'm glad you weren't offended by the comment. I try really hard not to say the wrong thing, but that was too priceless to pass up!!!

I'm with you with the "where did this kid come from?" I am pretty much a pacifist too, but both my boys are obsessed with the military and weaponry. Yup, gotta go with the flow!

You don't know me well yet, but I will hopefully be around for a long while on this thread. Something you will discover is that it's pretty darn hard to offend me, especially with a joke! :)

Hi y'all
Were back please ignore the ticker. We will be at the Yacht club club level:banana::banana::banana: again!
only 20 more days to go
now I just have to catch up on this thread.

Thanks for sharing Remy...loved your review...I remember that feeling from my trip to the BC last August!!

Teena, so sorry you are facing this. One day at a time and COME ON '12!!!

I just got my first email deal for WDW and it is reduced rates for all values and moderates for November 2011, but on reductions on AKL and WL for Deluxe. The dates are obviously wrong anyway, but I have read on here and elsewhere that the discounts are much more common for AKL and WL. I really need SOME kind of a discount but I really think I am a BC girl and I'm so excited for our trip there.

Hopefully something will happen and I'll squeak out some kind of discount!!!!!

Teena, best wishes for a successful operation today. Something tells me your doctor is going to learn just how tough a "nanny" can be when she wants to get out and see her Lilly.

Remy, thank you for your well crafted review of your BC visit. This sums up our feeling for the YC very nicely as well.

Good luck Teena! I know you will let us know how you are doing when you can. Lots of positve wishes and prayers for you!

Remy- what a great post! You are preaching to the choir here, but you have beautifully stated how many of us feel about the Beach & Yacht Clubs!

As some prospective guests have said, your review was a very encouraging for those looking forward the their first stays.

You might want to call. I found a deal for AKL and WL for my dates but when I checked the availability I was actually able to get it at the CR and BC too! It just wasn't published. Saved me over $1100 total when I was done.

Just got home from specialist.

I need 2-3 surgeries over next 2-3 weeks. First may be tomorrow. Real surgeries ... general anesthesia .. the works.

Needless to say, I'm very upset.

Bob liked doctor.

We then got EKG, blood work and x-rays at hospital. It went well.

My Vegas trip to help Jeanne may not be able to happen.

Hey Teena,

I'm so sorry to hear about your upcoming surgeries. That totally stinks.

Best of luck and you will be in our prayers.

Stay strong!

Jay

Hey all-

We are heading down in 2 weeks from today and just had a few quick questions.

1) While I know there are no "set times" for SAB (I did read the FAQ, I promise), can those who have been down there recently share the hours of operation for the pool and Hanna's for their trip? I gotta think end of July/beginning of August times hold true for mid-August (but I won't "count" on them...just getting an idea). We were at the BC last May and I believe everything closed down at 9 or 930, and was hoping they stayed open later during the peak summer season with the heat and all.

2) While we have ADR's for just about every night (and a few breakfasts too), we left one night open on our trip. We are a large group (8) and don't have a great idea of what we want to do that night ( we were thinking we'd do AK that day and either grab a bite there as the park was closing or figure it out when we got back to the resort)...I know a poster a few pages back spoke about Cape May for walkups, but does anyone have experience with dinner walkups at either the Boardwalk spots, or even into the World showcase? Just looking for some ideas to keep in mind.

3) For those who have been down there recently, how has the weather been? I've been tracking it through accuweather and all that and looks like there has been a lot of rain...has it been persistant or just the standard PM thunderstorms? And while the temperatures themselves don't seem to be out of whack with expectations from past years, has it felt unusually oppressive down there this year (I'm in the NE, so no stranger to humidity, but I just know the reports of the horrible heat in the south and wasn't sure if it extended down to the Florida coasts).

Thanks all!

Thanks all!

We stayed at BC the second week of July and SAB closed at 10:00 however the quiet pool was open all night.

Cape May Cafe looked very busy in the evening hours yet when we had dinner (our ADR was for 6:00) there were many empty tables. Stop by concierge and ask them to make a reservation for you.

The weather was amazing! Every day there was a light rain around 4-6 but it didn't last long, the rest of the day, morning and evening, it was sunny and hot but nothing out of the ordinary for Florida in July.

I hope you have a magical trip!

I will be arriving Aug 11th and can report back on the SAB pool hours when we arrive home. I won't be back til the 18th. Hope that's not too late for pp!!

And I wish Teena the best of luck for her surgeries...you can't catch a break, can you??!! I am gonna be seriously upset if I miss meeting you on our trip next week! But take good care of yourself and rest up so you can go visit beautiful Lily!!!

Good for you for reading the page 1 post!!!

1) Someone last week posted a picture of the pool hours, it is back several pages. I think it was 10-10, but DIS is really slow today, so I couldn't find the picture

3) kldmom2000 gave a very detailed description of last week's weather. Found that post:

If you are not able to get any ADR's for a restaurant and still want to eat there, some Cast Members have told me it's best to be there when they open and you might have a chance of getting a table.

I Have eaten both dinner and breakfast at the Captain's Grill and both were just great. No problem getting a table. They have a nice breakfast buffet or you can order off of the menu. Dinner menu was very nice and wine was very good. I would highly reccommend and as somebody else said, I have not seen it crowded to the extreme. But we do go in September.

There is a great offer for a BC Club Level Standard View room which we could use. Now I am a little bit concerned that we could end up with a view to a roof top or something similar.

Or are their no such bad view rooms at the Beach Club as all the Club Level rooms are on the upper floors? :confused3

Water view rooms are not available but that would not be an issue but if we would have a view to a roof that would ruin our trip. :sad2:

Ask for room face wedding gazebo. When on balcony and you look to right or left depending on your room you will see a nice view of the lagoon (sideways one). Gazebo is pretty big like a U shape so asking just for that shoudl be easy to fill
Thank you! Thank you! :flower3:

Good to hear your experiences ... he said the tube they are putting in is very uncomfortable and it will be in there 1-2 weeks, depending on other stuff they can or cannot do tomorrow.
So sorry to hear all this! :HUGS:

Another YC question..

I was reading a thread from 2010 that mentioned staying in one of the 'refurbished' rooms. Have only some of the YC rooms been refurbished, or are they all updated?
Thank you!

Bad news ... I Just got back from the hospital. I had some horrible back pain at work today. Bob took me to emergency and after blood and urine tests and a Cat Scan ..... It's a HUGE kidney stone. Doctor said I must have been in horrible pain for over a month with it. I said I had some discomfort but thought it was just gas pains off and on for over a month. The pain was actually bad a few times while I was in Vegas for Lily's birth ... just ignored it. He said most people wouldn't be walking with one this big. It's way too big for it to ever pass and he said I need to see a specialist tomorrow and they will most likely have to put me in a water tank and use sonor to blast it ... it's too big he thought for the other kind of blasting. Sounds very strange!!! He has me on strong pain meds and says no work for at least five days. He said he didn't see how I could still go on our mini anniversary vacation because the pain, even with meds, would keep me from wanting to eat or do much of anything. I'll see what the specialist says. What's the difference if I'm in pain at home waiting for the procedure which could be in a few days or at the Beach Club in the swimming pool?????

Oh, and the reason I went to ER tonight besides having horrible pain at 5 PM in the lobby ... so bad I thought I was going to pass out ... when I went to the bathroom before heading home, you guessed it, lots of blood. Pain I can deal with, the blood scared me pretty good!

I'm so upset at the thought of missing my first day back in the sun. I've been counting it down since the radiation doctor told me I could finally get in the sun in August. I even have my bathing suit and Noodles packed!!!!!

Is this year ever going to end??????

Teena,
You know my husband and I are both urologists, right? Please call me! You have my phone number, don't you???
Sending prayers for a speedy recovery!

Love,
Amanda
