Welcome Marianne!!! I almost missed the "I won" section in your siggie...how cool! I did the same thing....got down to 175 and now am trying to get back...won't even weigh myself, my poor dh has to record it for me...I'm just watching the pounds lost portion! :) We can do this and get it done for GOOD!!!!

Kathy, hey, I believe in breaks from weight loss...it's a struggle and I've needed the past winter to just depart but stay around and hopefully encourage and be encouraged for when I was ready to jump back in...luckily I'm feeling the urge now....but oh, what damage I did while I didn't! :) But, I'm back moving more and exercising almost everyday and that does WONDERS for my attitude...so give yourself time to heal and when you're able to hit your levels your were at, I think you'll be so pleased with the scale! We love having you hear to give us those words of wisdom...it's not a race just a journey and we'll support you through your time of rest! :)

Debra....there is aWORLD WORLD of diff between 6th graders and 8th graders...isn't it Amazing? Well, I bet you did fairly well chasing them the whole trip and the food won't be as bad as you think! :) Getting ready for your trip? When do y'all leave?

I did tennis for an hour, and walking for an hour yesterday...I'm off today but still plan to be active. Let's have a GREAT WEdnesday and remind ourselves of why we're doing this....for a healthy body and strong heart!

Oh, and fitting into those smaller sizes is a plus! :)
Tara

Welcome welcome welcome new members!!!!

My apologies for not being here for like, forever. I've had to work, and school-and our Cedar Point trip was yesterday with the band! It was lots of fun. On our last ride of the night (Mean Streak) I managed to get stuck in it! The seatbelt would not come undone. It wasn't because of my size, though-my healthy friend was stuck too! There is nothing like being stuck in a rollercoaster vehicle, let me tell you. I got to ride the Millenium Force, Magnum, Mantis and so many other things. We also marched. It was grand.

Eating has not been so well, though. There was cake at my house. Until I ate some of it that is. That was my breakfast the past two days. :sad2: :sad2: I should know better but it tastes so good!!! It's not like I limited it either :sad2: But I will be getting back on track. Today. So what if breakfast wasn't good? That doesn't mean that the rest of the day can't be just fine! I think I did "all right" yesterday at Cedar Point, too!!

I finally got to go to Johnny Rockets. We had to go everywhere in groups, so my group elected to go to Johnny Rockets. The service was extremely spotty (our waitresses sat us down, took our orders, brought our food back, and brought us the check). We all ordered the same thing, more or less...but nobody really got what they wanted! We also paid $50.37 for 6 of us. We're a nice crew-we went splitsies. I really didn't like my experience there. The dancing was fun, but when I'm in the park, I want to ride coasters :) not watch dancers though that is fun and exciting.

Today WILL be better-I feel rather saddened from being stuck in that coaster car...

Pictures to come! I promise!!

Jen! How did you get stuck? Was the seat belt hung? How did they get you out??? I would have felt awkward..but you gotta laugh those things off! :) Now, as for the cake, I've been there and used the old Bill Cosby excuse that there are eggs/flour/butter in there (all the fixins for a good breakfast! :) But, we really can't do that can we? I've picked up on my exercise, but have missed my last 3 days!!!! NOT GONNA GET ME TO GOAL that way...so let's commit to making those right decisions and feeling good about it!!!!

No guilt about yesterdays, just good feelings about today and our goal day!!! May the road between them be short! :)

It's quiet out there...I hope the 150'ers are out enjoying the spring weather!!! And walking or exercising their bodies to goal!
Tara

Okay...
the car pulled in too close to the part where you walk on to the ride, and the lock that unsprings the seatbelt/lap bar mechanism was stuck. All of their biggest burliest guys tried to unstick it to no avail. They finally had to dismantle the side of the car to get me out.

I was with a bunch of friends, so it wasn't hard to keep a good attitude. My two good friends in the group took my camera and got a few pictures...

I kept talking to the people who were trying to take me out. It was rather fun because I was talking about the day, and our band...and how this accident was a brand of Cedar Point Magic at its finest. When they saw my friends taking pictures, they said that I was the first person to ever want that documented! They also said I had one of the best attitudes on there. :goodvibes It was rather scary though-glad I went potty before I got on the ride :teeth: !

Today is a BRAND NEW start with a BRAND NEW delicious breakfast! I plan to get some exercise done, get some homework done, and have a losin' day!

Oh Jen! You have such a great attitude! I bet it was annoying being stuck there! At least you had good weather. I was with our DD's band at Kings Island last Saturday and it wasn't good weather, so the sunshine probably helped.

I totally understand the cake thing too. It is hard when those things are around and lately I have been doing terrible! I just can't seem to stick to my plan.....and we leave 2 weeks from today for WDW! UGH!

Love the picture, Jen! Glad you had fun with your friends. Next year our band goes to Cedar Point (they rotate between the two parks), so hopefully they get the ride fixed by then!

Debra

I would love to join this club! I started in Juanuart at 248. I am currently at 215. I am very excited! I am just trying to get to 180. I recently discovered I have a glueten intolerance, and since eliminating it from my diet, the pounds have just come off! I am excited, and have begun using the treadmill and walking more. I have also DRASTICALLY cut back on root veggies. It will be great to participate with so many other woman dedicated to the same thing! Being healthy! :)

Welcome TBStein!!!!

Debra-let me know when your girls are going to CP. If our levy passes (we've had two levies up and both were defeated), we could meet each other in the park!

Good morning everyone.

Hope things are going well for everyone.

My son graduated from community college yesterday. He won't be going anywhere if he doesn't get himself in gear and get some housing at the college he is going to next year. I will not pay for an apartment.

My Goddaughter had her confirmation on Saturday so we have been very busy.

My eating and exercise has been great for the last week. I am writing everything down and calculating all the calories for the last week. Let's hope that it will last. I think that by doing this it will keep me on track. It has kept me there for the past week.

Well I have to go and finish writing my lesson plans. It will be last ones I write for the year so I am excited. Then 2 more classes with lunch in between then off to the doctor to get my blood pressure check (It has been great during the last weeek) then grocery shopping and home to plant some flowers that I should have planted last week,

Hope everyone has great day.

Tbstein!!! WELCOME and congratulations on such a FANTASTIC loss and change in your life!!! I too started at 240's and I can tell you that the 180's FEEL GREAT and once you get there you'll want to see those 150's!!! I'm stuck in the 180's and trying to get down this summer!! Great tip on the gluten...which foods have it? Is it just in breads? I found losing down to Onederland was a rollercoaster..I"d plateau then have WHOOOOSH losses without changing much...maybe walking one extra mile or cutting out diet drinks for a week...sometimes just making any change will shock your body into working for you! :)

Dona! CONGRATS on your son...it must be hard not knowing where he'll be in the fall...I know it's tough for him as well...but I know he'll work it out with a mom like you there to guide him! :) GREAT JOB writing everything down....whew, I really need to do that? Can I? Ummmm, okay I'll try! :)

I'm doing tennis today, no walking but tomorrow I get back to walking...I took 5 days off!!! Only supposed to take one every 4th day...but we've had rain and busy stuff that just distracted me...can't lose weight if I'm so distracted! So focus on the exercise, the eating and the water...it will come off!

Off to water my flowers and do some stretching...I have a feeling we'll be practicing serves and that's a killer on my shoulder!

Tara

Good morning

Good new from the doctr's yesterday. I had changed medications last month for my PVCs because the last one caused a hacking cough. Well the cough is gone and the bp is back down to 130/70. My doctor got that reading in both arms. The reading the nurse got was much higher but my doctor thinks it is because I might have been having a PVC and that makes it hard for the untrained ear to hear the bp properly. She was very pleaased. On her scale I was down 6 pounds but I think that was because I was in a different room than last time. When I got on mine at home this morning I was the same as I was a month ago. Before I started really watching what I was eating last week I was not being very well behaved. Writing things down has really hleped me to keep things in perspective. It makes me more conscious of what is going into my mouth. I know that I had gained a few pounds before last week but I know that I am back on track and should start going down from where I am in onederland. I am looking to get to the 180's sometime this summer.

Tara Try writing things down. I know that it is a pain but once you start it makes you aware of what everything costs calorie wise.

THis weekend really opened my eyes. My neice made her confirmation. Her mom is my twin sister. She must weigh at least what I weighed when I started this journey last year if not more. I don't want to go back there.

On another note. My twin and I were talking and it was suggested that we go to DW together this summer. Just a sister trip. Now she tells me that her husband wants to go. Bummer. I don't think it is going to fly.

I worked on my arms and legs this morning and hope to take a nicce walk this afternoon. Hope everyone has a nice day.

I'm baaack!

Hi Everybody, sorry I sort of went MIA. I have been doing well, just not posting. I started doing a modified South Beach diet May 13th (some fruit, the occasional cookie), and since then I've lost 5.5 lbs! I had no idea I was eating so many carbs and sugars, until Tara gently pointed it out. Once I just cut back, the weight seems to be coming off. :cool1:

I've also been exercising regularly for the last three weeks. I've been walking/jogging on the TM. The first week I did 10 miles, 12 the second, and 14 last week. I'm working on 16 for this week. I just ordered The 4400 Season 2 from Netflix, so that should keep me going for awhile. I'm really enjoying just getting on the TM and moving. ;)

On the even brighter side, I have convinced dh to stay onsite for part of our 2007 summer vacation, which is big for him. So, I'm having the fun of deciding where to stay. He's pretty open to moderate or deluxe (but refuses to stay at the AK, because he doesn't want animals watching him... :confused3 ), so I have lots to choose from. :smickey:

Welcome to all the newbies! You have come to an amazing place to get fantastic support.

Dona -- It sounds like you are really making progress! :thumbsup2 Writing it down is important. I started keeping track of water, food, exercise and sleep on May 15th. I find that this really helps because I don't freak out so much about my weight if I'm doing it every day. It's easy to see an overall pattern. Of course, I've been good at writing things down before and just stopped. But there's nothing stopping us now!

Tara -- I bet that tennis is turning you into a skinny Minnie! ::MinnieMo Between that and the walking and swimming you are doing great!

Jen -- You had such a great attitude at the amusement park! :goodvibes You look fanstastic, too!

tbstein -- Awesome progress! You are on your way! :welcome:

Debra -- I can't believe you leave in 2 weeks! Where has the time gone? Is this another stay at the Beach Club Villas? What a great place :sunny:

Kathy -- I hope you have been able to relax some, and I hope your upcoming nerve block does it's job. I think that once you can do the things you want to again, weight loss will be a breeze...o.k., maybe a sharp wind... ;)

Tiggerific -- Hi! It's so easy to lose and gain it all back. I've certainly done it. What's fantastic is you are ready to get moving and losing again! :woohoo:

So, there's a holiday weekend coming up. Anyone have any exciting plans?

Maria

Just resting around the house doing what ever I want on Sat while my husband and son go out. It is a grreat birthday present for me. My 51st birthday is Monday. My twin sister and her family is spending the weekend in DW but I will be here. Maybe working on a quilt for my husband, he is leaving as SCoutmaster for his Boy SCout Troop next month. I found a pattern that would be good to put all his patches that he has collected over the last 15 years. Boy SCouts love patches and he has lots.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Dona! It's a little early, but :bday: I hope you have a wonderful, restful weekend.

We are getting our pool up (it blows up, but it's 4' deep, and 15' diagionally), and I am really looking forward to enjoying some time in a lounger, just listening to the birds and maybe taking a little nap.

I still plan to hit the TM, but I'll be having lovely rests after I do! :goodvibes

Have an awesome weekend, everyone!

Maria

Oh my pumpkin pie. I had a wicked bad day at work yesterday. A little bit foodwise, but mostly workwise. I did pack a lunch and ate most of it (large tortilla wrap with ham and lettuce, tomatoes and strawberries). We also swapped with the place next door and got pizzas. I didn't get to eat it though.

But anyway, I was "head girl" at work and got to close for the very first time, which means you are like the supervisor kind of person. Things were CRAZY busy because we got a huge rush, like major rush. I have had disagreements with one of the head girls (we don't exactly see eye to eye...we are Type A's in the most major way...leaders/big thinkers/love to be in the spotlight)... anywho. The rush-it came. We were running out of things left and right, we were dangerously low on ice cream, all of us were busy. Head Girl walks in and starts helping. We learn that someone had gotten hard chocolate everywhere, we were almost out, we weren't helping enough...all that jazz. I was glad she came in. So we're closing and she brings up all the stuff we've done wrong. It's been a long day, and my brain is a fried egg at that point in time, so I'm feeling the majority of the junk falling on me ("you're not helping" "people were backed up for five minutes while I went to my car" "Girl 1 was the only one helping" "I can't believe you were using the spoons someone got hard chocolate on" kind of stuff). I felt like I let many people down and like I had committed an unforgivable sin. She also claimed to be babysitting us. I mean, the whole group worked THREE MONTHS total.

Sorry for the rant. Everything else was good.

Dona!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: What a great time of year for birthdays! Good weather and yours falls in with a holiday so everyone will be off to celebrate with you! :) I wish I had the talent to quilt....I hope one day I can manage. I have all kinds of squares cut, just nothing put together.

My son's birthday is tomorrow, planning a surprise pool party...I"ve got soooo much to do between now and then. It's tradition to make homemade cinnamon rolls..it's a great recipe but takes 3 hours....no joke!! And somehow I have to make the cherished chocolate cake recipe without him knowing because he thinks the party is on Saturday...then I've got to go to the store to buy all this stuff....oh my I'm sacked already thinking about it. On a good note I used my persuasion to haggle a Toyota dealership...(my Dad worked for T for 20+ years and told me what to say)...finally got within $10 of my monthly payment I wanted...SOLD...we're now Tundra owners...never owned a truck in my life but we needed something to pull an RV...so in the next few years we'll take the kids cross-country for all kinds of exploits...we'll be coming to a city near you! :)

I had a bag of cheetos for dinner...figured the calorie was similar to slimfast and just caved. But the rest of the day was good....salad for lunch and scrambled eggs for breafkast....today need to get my walk in and straighten up the house...spent 5 hours at Toyota when I really needed to be somewhere else...but it'll be worth it when the truck gets delivered today....fun thing...

Tara

Today is DH's birthday! I guess there will be a lot of celebrating going on. Actually, tomorrow is one of my DD's last day of school, so she will be celebrating while the other has one more week and is not happy at all. This school thing is causing a lot of grief in our house (but that is another story....although somewhat related because this issue is causing me a lot of stress and stress leads me to eating way too much).

MARIA: I didn't like the ending to LOST, did you? I wonder if Michael is off the show for good now.

Did everyone watch American Idol? We were hoping for Taylor to win all along. He is so much fun to watch. This is the first time we ever watch American Idol, but the girls enjoyed it and it is nice when we can all watch a show together.

Well, I just got back from the store and I have carrots and apples in the fridge. I just hope I can get myself back on track.

Debra

Oh holy cow. Eating has NOT n-o-t been good today. Ramen noodles for breakfast (why? I don't know), turkey club with fries for lunch and crackers for a snack. I'm also somewhat sick...

Water's been good and I have done a lot of walking...

Hello again!

Tara, as far as what is glueten, it is wheat--or rather what is from the processing of wheat. So, anything with flour is out, whether it is the base ingredient (cookies or cake) or as a binder (soups and such). So, it has been hard, but well worth it! Thanks for the 'pat on the back'! It certainly helps! Good luck this summer! I sure am going to continue with what I am doing!

Wendy

Tbstein....I just realized what gluten was when I was making cinnamon rolls from scratch and I even had my own gluten to add to it! There's a whole foods co-op I joined and I just bought stuff they recommended and duh...it's right there in my pantry. I would be sore to eat without gluten...I"m not a candy person but take my breads away and I'm not very happy! Good for you for finding a way around that beast..I think it will really help you lose the pounds more steadily.

Debra!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you dh!!! My son's birthday was Friday and I managed to only eat one piece of cake and 1/2 a cinnamon roll...I was very proud of myself. Dinner was shrimp and salad and no fries so that was good, could have been much worse. I know you'll get back on track! You have a trip coming up don't you?????

Jen! We just have days where we go 'ICK'...let it pass and pick up on a new day! You're about to start a good summer where you can kick it into high gear and start the new school year with a fit and fab self!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

I'm going to weigh tomorrow and record it...I'd like to send out a message to all 150'ers and see if they'd like to commit to a weekly weigh in...it's perfectly fine for any who don't who just need a break from weighing but I thought it would be encouraging to see the pounds going! I know it really helps me stick to it when I have a team with me! :)

Off to wash/fold about 40 loads of laundry...hope my washer can hold up! :)

Talk to you guys soon!
Tara

Today has started off well. I've had 54 ounces of water already and 2 cups of Cheerios. I am DETERMINED to make today better :)
