1,353 MILES! "Get Your Motor Runnin'" or "Leaving on a Jet Plane"?

Should Shocker attempt to devour the 48 ounce steak at Shula's?

  • No, he might get sick and ruin the rest of the vacation for Wigd.

  • Yes, he has the right to take this challenge.

I used to work in a district that had board members who made sure the teachers worked the listed number of contract days. One year we had three days of meetings after the kids were out for the summer. This was illegal as the days we missed were attendance days and should have been made up as such. We also did such creative things as add minutes to the remaining school days and went to school on Saturday more than once. We even had our Spring Break cut short by ONE day as we came in on Friday! Hooray for power hungry school board members.....:confused3

Boy, laws truly are different by state! In Iowa, ANY days missed MUST be made up, period! Students must be in classes 180 days and teachers must be on contract 190 days. In 2000-2001, we had 9 snow days and no make-up days built into the calendar so they took our monthly in-service days during second semester as contact days and stacked in-service after classes were finished. We had 7 in-service days that went until June 14 (I was 39 weeks pregnant at the time and praying for my water to break!!)

We go 15 minutes early in the morning and 15 minutes later in the afternoon to make our 5 extra days per year. We don't get out 5 days early if we don't use them for snow, so that's why we're so excited when we exactly get to use them instead of just donating them to the school!! I think we should get paid extra for them if we don't use them, but that's just a dream! :lmao:

Hmmn. Tough call. I"m trying to decide between two of those for our own date night! I'll cast my vote with the masses though...Cali.

It's ok to be a rebel!

I've only ever done CG, and it was wonderful! But, you said you already have an ADR there for a future trip? If so, I'd aim for one of the other ones, just to try something else!

It's time to finalize the ADRs and open some back up to the Spring Breakers! :cool1:

I second this. I think this sounds like a wonderful dining plan and I didn't even have to put any thought into it. :rotfl: Thanks SoonerGirl!

Well if you want to go to Shula's more than once, I would say do FFish your first night, so you can just walk over vs. getting on a bus for dinner your first night there... you will have driven, etc. and I am sure a good rest for the next day would be helpful. So I would take the 7pm seating, enjoy dinner, and then go over for the FWorks/illuminations if you want that evening after.

If WigD wants to stroll the shops at DTD (who are we kidding?) then I would say Raglan Road the next night, so you can do both while you are there (dinner and shop) -- or Shula's b/c you can easily get a bus to DTD too... depending on your evening activity, a park or whatever, then you can decide on the time...

For Tuesday I say Yachtsman -- because if you want to try it then this would be your only shot!!! OR Shula's IF you go with Raglan Road Monday.

Wednesday (if you are looking for easy access to a park after dinner, specifically MK, then I would lean towards The Wave, or see if you could get Narcoossee's that same night...you never know.... BUT I guess some have been on the fence about The Wave -- we liked it, I guess if not The Wave then Shula's b/c if you do Raglan and Yachtsman you have this slot wide open. The Wave could keep to the summer!

I then say Brown Derby b/c you know this is her favorite place.. or FFish again. You could do Shula's if you are okay going to the same restaurant two nights in a row!!!! OR, you could do Shula's your first night, since it is relatively close to FFish and Bwalk, so you get to go twice, and just catch the Brown Derby on the summer trip...

Then the last night, yes Cali Grill... definitely Cali Grill. Though that dang Bistro is rather interesting I agree!

Eat at Flying Fish every night until the last and then eat at Cali Grill.

OK, I will try to get Wigd to agree....:lmao:

Great minds!!!! :cool1:

Great ADR choices. Hmmm I'd probably go with the later dinner times.

Did you remember that I am old and have trouble staying awake late at night? :yay:

I doubt we will do anyplace more than once per trip....There are too many places we have yet to visit! Thanks:)

Still not sure about Friday night!

We have Cali Grill scheduled for July so I am leaning toward the Bistro.....

Well if you are going to CG in July then I would definitely go to Bistro! I have read some really great reviews of it on the Dining boards!!!

As I was browsing this month's Mickey Monitor I noticed the Flower Power Concert Series, I know some of you will not recognize these former stars but Wigd and I will be able to see Paul Revere and the Raiders on March 14 and David Cassidy on March 19!
