1,353 MILES! "Get Your Motor Runnin'" or "Leaving on a Jet Plane"?

Should Shocker attempt to devour the 48 ounce steak at Shula's?

  • No, he might get sick and ruin the rest of the vacation for Wigd.

  • Yes, he has the right to take this challenge.

Shocker is going to have enough steak to share with a whole bunch of people!
Heck, I could have Jarvis come along and bring his mom and all of her young'uns and still have steak for her to take home in her daughter's purse!

I tried to get two nights out of Jill for a quickie quickie trip, but she's being the voice of reason. I'm up for driving down there for one day at Epcot or Animal Kingdom, doing some window shopping at DTD the next day, and then driving back that afternoon.

I am sick, I tell ya! :crazy2:
I have been speaking with myself daily about this.

I will start working on Jill.....
Just think The Boardwalk.....it will be fun, fun, fun.....

Attempting to eat that much steak in one sitting would unleash a chain of events of cataclysmic proportions.

Watch...

You eat 48 ounces of steak.
You begin to feel ill.
You insist on heading back to the hotel room.
You writhe in pain like Meg Ryan in French Kiss after she has eaten all that cheese.
Wigd gets sick and tired of listening to your moaning when you should have known better in the first place.
She decides to leave and head to Downtown Disney by herself.
With the Disney Visa.
She returns, seemingly empty-handed, five hours later.
The next day, the packages arrive for pick up.
Wigd has single-handedly bought out the entire World of Disney.
You now have to transmit it all home AND find a place for all of it.

All of this could have been avoided...

Just don't eat that steak, Shocker!

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

:lmao: Love your reasoning Jackie!!!

Shocker & Widg - congrats on getting your travel plans finalized! I'm so glad you finally found a reasonable flight! :goodvibes

Jill, how can you pass up the chance to hang out at The Boardwalk for a couple of days? :cloud9: Come on, you know you want to!:worship::worship: Please??

I agree with Jackie's reasoning too!

That flight just made my day! I think we'll drive in July though, but we'll be able to take our time on that trip...

Glad to see you found reasonable airfare, AND get a longer trip out of it, too! That's always exciting. :) I can't wait to hear how you like Pop (and BWV, of course).

I really would love to, but I would have to deal with the griping from the husband and his constant calling. Plus that is a lot of driving in a very short time for the little girls. Especially Bella since she has to still sit backwards and can't enjoy the DVD player.

WOOT for finding a non-stop flight!!!! That is fantastic that you only have to drive a short bit and YAY for more time at the resort you can't beat that!!

I'm anxious to see if you get that Shula's ADR!! Being a gal from Kansas I'm definitely a steak lover...so that sounds right up my alley...well at least steak not sure about the 40 some oz steak LOL!!!

So lots of good news all around!!! So excited for the two of you!!

Great news on the non stop flight. The drive portion shouldn't be too bad either. Pop should be an interesting stay. It's our favorite Value.

This Spring Break trip has grown from March 14th-March 19th to March 13th-March 20th! I will now have to add some ADRS.

:cheer2: for getting your plans finalized---I'm sure you weren't looking forward to that long drive you would have had.

Now our trips will overlap---I'll be there March 19-25!

Ohhh, come on Jill.....;) It's almost 12 hours for us. We drove to Tallahassee on Mon, 12/28, and checked in YC on Tues., 12/29 around lunch. We had about half that day---all day on Wed., 12/30 and Thurs., 12/31. Got up and drove all the way home on Jan. 1.

YOU CAN DO IT!!

Great news on the drive, the flight and the extra days! I had to *sigh* when I saw the picture of Pop Century. I love that place! Course I've only been to WDW once so it's not like I have alot to which to compare! LOL

It was "or" and now it is "and" sooooooo I would guess you are driving somewhere and then getting on a plane to Orlando!!!! Am I close?????
I wrote this before I finished reading all the pages. So..... yipee, so glad you are only driving 260 miles. Thank goodness for that....

Do you think they have re-stocked since she did that in December? :cool1:

NO (well maybe somewhat -- with that 2010 stuff that CP suggested!)

I would get rid of Raglan Road.....I really liked The Wave....A LOT :) I had the filet and it was delicious...they also have really good butter...and who doesn't love butter? :rotfl2:
Can't wait to see the finalized plans...I am also thinking that you are driving/flying :goodvibes

Tracy

I agree!!! The Wave was good! Well, we enjoyed it. And you can't beat location, can walk/monorail from MK...

We will be arriving on SATURDAY, March 13th. Our DVC reservation is at Boardwalk from March 14th through March 19th. Whatever will we do on Saturday night? I thought we could sleep at MCO and hitch a ride the next morning on the Magical Express! But Wigd nixed that idea...So, we will be staying that one night at
MeMom and Jill's Beloved POP![/CENTER]
That is sooo cool! How fun these plans keep changing.. Glad you cut your drive, much more manageable!
:thumbsup2 SO you got a good deal? Great!

Congratulations on the fight portion of your trip. You will love Pop, I agree with MeMom it is the best. I have stay at all level of Disney resort and I keep coming back to Pop. Of course part of the reason is I can stay two almost three trips at Pop for one GF.

Will we be driving? YES!

Will we be flying? YES!

How far will we drive? OKC? Tulsa? DFW? KC? StL? Springfield/Branson? Little Rock? Fayetteville? Memphis? Knoxville? Shreveport? New Orleans? Atlanta?

I continually checked airfare from each of these cities simply to cut the drive short.

I was shocked :scared1: today when I received an email about a possible fare from one of these cities!

We will be driving about 260 miles to the east/southeast and then boarding an Airtran non-stop flight to Orlando! We have never flown non-stop!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

much better than the previous plan.

I do think you have the right to eat the steak. I like Jackie's idea that Anita gets to go shopping while you writhe in pain, if in fact that happens and at a minimum would suggest that she is additional entitled to the souvie of her choice worth an equal dollar amount of the price of the steak on top of anything else she might want.

Or another Vera.

:rotfl:

I voted yes, but only with the caveats! I espeically like the "Wigd was right and I was wrong" 1000x on the DIS. Might make a nice TR title. ;)

Congrats on finding decent airfare! That will make the trip more enjoyable, I'm sure. And a longer trip (at Disney, not driving!) is always better! :thumbsup2 I'm sure you will like Pop, it's a shiny, happy resort. Are you making any room requests, or just gonna see what you get?

Now you don't have to drop any ADRs, right? Just add in Shulas! Eat some of the grilled asparagus for me. :lovestruc

Say hello to the Potato Heads for me.
And Goofy.
And the Big Wheel.
And Lady.
And Tramp.
And my gift shop.
And take one walk around Brooklynn's kiddie pool.
And don't forget to say hi to Mowgli and Baloo.
They're just so happy to see folks every morning.
And that giraffe that looks just like the one I made at home. ;)

I am sobbing now.

Oh... I understand. I'm aching for our next trip...which won't be until Fall at the earliest. Sigh.

Shocker is going to have enough steak to share with a whole bunch of people!
Heck, I could have Jarvis come along and bring his mom and all of her young'uns and still have steak for her to take home in her daughter's purse!

:rotfl::rotfl: I love how you worked in the purse!!!! :rotfl:

What a problem to have!

We now have additional time at Disney and I am forced to make more ADRs...:cool1:

We decided on Kona for dinner on Sunday but what to do for the final evening? :confused3

Since this is a couples stay, I thought it would be nice to have a romantic  dinner on our final night.

These are the possibilities, and, of course, Wigd has the final decision...
Let us know what you think...:thumbsup2

Bistro de Paris

narcoossees_wdw_thumb.jpg

Narcoosee's

DL_CALGR_240.jpg

California Grill

Tough choice! I've heard outstanding things about all three. The only one I've actually eaten at is California Grill and it was amazing! Of course for Narcoosee's or CG you can time with Wishes. That would be cool. For Bistro maybe you could plan a late ADR for just before park close (maybe even have a window seat for Illuminations) and then exit into a nearly empty World Showcase - you could take the long way around and then exit through the International Gateway. :cloud9:

Really tough choice. I don't know. You can't go wrong. Maybe it comes down to which menu appeals to you more?

Can't wait to find out what you choose!

Great news on the non stop flights!!:thumbsup2 We always fly non stop. Of the 3 choices for your romantic dinner I would pick either Cali Grill or Narcoosee's. My DH & I are going the first week of May for our 25th anniv. trip & we are going to Narcoosee's for the lobster!! There was not much on the Cali menu for me. (I tend to be a bit fussy):rolleyes1. I cannot wait to try Narcoosee's.
