Wk of Apr 22--WISH Walking/Running Club

Lisa - phil is my husband. I actually called him yesterday and told him that the boy was fine, but that he was definitely not going to be a phlebotimist!!!
So you were a passer outer even when you were young???

I would have promised him a happy meal too (as we all remember my affection for mcdonald's during training) but since I watched that Super-size me movie, I have not had mc'd (or any big fast food chain) since before the dis. marathon!!!! We do have a couple of local fast food restaurants, but I think the get their meat locally and processed locally, so it is not as disgusting, but sadly, they don't have the majorly cool toys in their meal either. I've basically added a couple of bucks to the boys allowance on days that he would want fast food for the toy so that we can just eat somewhere good and then go to the dollar store and score a cheap toy! I miss the big mac!!!!!!

Morning team. Not much time to post this morning--but wanted to jump on here and say Yeah! that Phil's biopsy came back negative.:cool1:

Melissa--What a moron dr. though--and take care of your finger--Thought of you yesterday when we ran over by the Big Dam Bridge!:goodvibes

Krista--Oh, and I forgot also to comment on the prego comment. I like Craig's idea of kicking her hard with one of those spiky heels you like so much--Very Charlie's Angels!

Krista - I third teh spikey heel comment!!!!

Melissa - OMG. WHat a day. I think I would have neded up a huddled mass of tears on the floor. Wow. :grouphug: :grouphug: Hope things get much better very soon!!!

Lisa - So good to see you around again!!!

No work out last night. Up too late fro hockey Sunday night and went to bed early. As if it's not bad enough to have a 9 pm start, the darn game went to double OT! (I had to call it quits affter the first OT. :( )

WOo hoo for taper! 40 min tonight. Still have not had gait analysis. Ugh. PT lost my work number. I should hear today.

Good morning team!! Why is it the taper always produces stonker runs? I think every event I've trained for, my tapers have all been blah. I ran 3 miles last night right after work, so it was still close to 80 degrees, I was trying to beat the storm that was coming our way so it was extremely muggy. Ugh. The entire run, my left calf (which is my good leg) was so tight, I had to keep stopping and stretching it and I took more walk breaks than I usually do. But I got the steps in, so that's all that counts. I have another 3 miles tonight, hopefully it will be a better run! :wizard:

Thanks everyone for backing me up on the whole "are you pregnant" thing. I know I don't look pregnant and I'm pretty thin, but still when you hear that, it does something to you! All I could think was, it's people like her that make young girls and women have eating disorders! And you're right, Cindy, you NEVER ask someone if they are pregnant, as you don't know any back stories that may be going on. So yeah, maybe I have a "little belly", but you know what, I have some pretty rocking legs, if I do say so myself!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Melissa--I am so glad that Phil is okay!!!! What a weight off your shoulders!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: Sorry about the boy! I bet you were both terrified. I'm glad that he seems to be doing better. :wizard: for your finger! Spiders yuck me out, so I think I would have passed out over that one. Oh, I'll keep you posted if my co-worker is psychic. ;)

Carrie--Sent you a PM. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Judy--Take care of yourself!! That's a relief to know that the health issues you've had the past few months are a pretty easy fix. But still, don't mess with your blood pressure. No more guacamole for you, young lady!!

Cam--Are you feeling any better?

Mike--You know, I was wearing some pretty spiky heels yesterday that could have done some damage.

Bekkwiz--Nice job sticking with the run!

Lisa--You win the award! That was an incredible post!!!! The baby must have been napping, huh? :) You are such an inspiration, have a baby in March, back to walking/running by April, and an ultra-marathon in January. You rock!! :cheer2:

Okay, I know I missed people, but I've been here for an hour and I haven't done anything constructive yet. I better go and earn my keep. I'll be back when I need a break from nasty customers who want to argue with everything I say. I love my job. I love my job. I love my job.

I hate posting back to back, but I need to ask for some prayers and :wizard: for my sister. I just got off the phone with my Mom, my oldest sister, Shari, has been in hospital since Friday because of migraine headaches and high blood pressure. She is having surgery sometime today, the surgeon is actually taking a piece of her vein out above her temple to see if they can figure out why she is getting migraines and why her blood pressure won't
stabilize. I'll keep everyone posted.

I know I'm going to miss someone because I waited to long to read this and now all 3 kids are up and wanting attention. :sad2:

Mike- You've traumatized me w/ the story about the vet doing his own vasectomy! I'll never look at my vet again the same way.

Melissa- So glad Phil got good news. So angry that it took so long. Some docs just don't get it. I've got to admit some jealousy that your DS went limp during his procedures. When my DD was 5 she kicked and flailed so badly that the pediatrician had to call in his special forces. The nurse that came was HUGE. She looked like a retired East German female power lifter. I've got to give DD credit she still tried to fight but she was hopelessly over powered. I got a spider bite while mowing the lawn a couple years ago. I felt a stab to my knee and looked down thinking the mower had flung something at me. There was a big spider hanging on. After my Dance of Revulsion the spider was dead and completely unidentifiable. I had 2 holes which swelled together into an egg sized wound. Hope your finger doesn't do that trick.

Leanna- Vacuuming is XT around here because I have to do so much toy pick up before hand!

Minnie- Those are beautiful pictures.

Matt- How do you achieve that zero-gravity state?

Krista- I suspect jealousy!

Vic- Hope your snakey friend sticks around. He'll keep the mice and other rodents away!

Sunny-Maybe you're a Parsel Tongue! (Just watched that Harry Potter movie)

Judy-:wizard: for bringing that BP down!

Lisa- Glad you're back!

Mike- Hey, tell me what shorts you're wearing. I could use something flattering.

Shan- WTG on picking up the running!

Matt- Can reading your posts count as XT for us???

Lily- We may not have gators up here but we've got some pretty exciting wildlife ourselves! While running I've come across snakes, turkeys, deer, a 'possum and my least favorite a skunk w/ babies! That skunk was not happy that I was heading right for them. She started doing her handstand.:scared1:

Angie- Congratulations on graduation!

Going to the Y today for treadmill or bike can't decide. Then back again while DD does her Girls on the Run and I'll do some strength training.

Krista-prayers for your sister and your whole family.:grouphug:

Melissa, soooo happy everything turned out alright for Phil! It must have been so stressful waiting for those results! And what a day you had, I thought mine was hectic, but it was just running around with activities and trying to feed two kids between violin and guitar lessons and before Boy scouts! (Ashamed to say, I stopped at McDonald's twice in 90 minutes yesterday.:guilty: )

Krista, oh, yes, prayers for your sister.

I can tell it is coming to the end of the school year soon as things are really getting busy. My calendar is packed for the next 6 weeks. I am also trying to finish a Geometry and Algebra 2 course I am teaching a couple of homeschooled kids (not my own), so they have been coming three times of week each instead of twice. I have been able to get in a few quality runs and more cross training too, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to keep up here. I will try and stop in later today.

Have a great day.

Colleen

Hey all, just a quicky since WTO and I have not time lately. I am currently chuggung coffee and downing some oatmeal before my meeting. I am NOT GIVING UP... last night we did a family bike ride. DH takes DD6 on his bike with the tag-a-long and I get to drag DDalmost4 in the trailer. Even tho it was a slow pace, I was pulling a 40 pound girl plus the weight of the trailer. We did 40 minutes, so I was pleased. Tonight I am going to try to hit the elliptical while DD's are in swim class. It's a bad time to go since the Y is always packed at that time, but maybe I will be lucky. I haven't ran yet, but plan to try on Friday after work. My foot is still tender, so I pray it heals quickly for me.

Lisa and Stacey - THANK FOR THE IDEAS. Actually, the ideas Lisa posted are some that I was going to do, but the titles are GREAT. My DD is so excited about ther birthday. Yesterday I bought some SpongeBob fabric and will try to make her a little sundress before Sunday. She will love it. It's a Tiki Spongebob.

Judy - Oh get that BP down. I have low BP, but lately all my stress is causing havic on it. It's not a good thing! I am glad you know what the problem is tho!!!

Krista - I hope you Sister gets better!!! Oh and I just asked my brother to buy me some Body Glide because he is placing an REI order. OH and I have a little girl ask me if I was PG when I was only 6-8 weeks along and no one knew yet. Hmmm, could it be?

MelR - I hope everything works out for your DH. I have been through it with my mom twice, so I know how nerve racking it can be. OH and EWWWW on the spider. I would have freaked. I think I would rather it had been a wasp than a spider. Maybe Vic can loan you his snake to kill the spiders.

Did I mention that DH (Paul) is doing his first 5K this weekend. We are supposed to have GREAT weather. I was going to do it with him, but with my current PF and no babysitter, I decided to let him have the glory and I will battle the crazy kids. We will just cheer him on. His biggest worry... he wants the shirt to be cool!!! I told him that I didn't think this one was, but if he likes it there will be others he can do.

Krista - PD and prayers for your sister. I hope her surgery goes well today.:wizard: I also can't believe the woman at your work asking you if you were pregnant....!
Melissa - I'm so glad to hear that your husband's biopsy came back OK, but I can't believe they didn't let him know the moment the results came in. Take care of your finger!

OK, must get some work done this morning. Will try to catch up with everyone else later!

Floyd--wow...I don't know why I didn't know you were in PB. I must have been under a rock. Have you always been there, or did you guys just move there? How old is Timmy? (that's what we called my brother when he was little :goodvibes ).

I have been here for almost 12 years and Lynnda has been here for an undisclosed number (most of her life) since that would give away her age. I have been told that is not a good thing for hubby's to do. :rotfl:

Timmy is now 3 weeks old today, depending on how you actually count the weeks.

Bill

Dave – Sounds like the girls are doing great with their 5K training! Do y’all have a specific race in mind as a goal?

Lisa – Great to see you up and about so soon! Hope your knee feels better.

Susie – That race app is a riot!

Shan – You’re doing great!

Vic – Hope your foot is feeling better!

Judy – Glad that you’ve got an explanation. Take care of yourself!

Krista – Don’t even get me started on your coworker. Seriously. The nerve of some people. Keep us posted about your sister – I hope everything goes smoothly and they can figure out what’s wrong!

Laurie – Good to see you! Good luck on your race!

Matt – Great photo!

Minnie – Ooh, so beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Bekkiz – Great job!

TriMom – Hope the little one is all better. WTG getting those 3 miles in.

Melissa – Glad that the results came back good!

Jen – Good luck to your DH for his first 5K!

Outback was delightful. I ate a few too many cheese fries, but I drank water instead of Coke, and had broccoli as a side instead of potatoes, so that's my justification. :upsidedow

In trying to find some motivation, I looked at the local race listing, and found several 5Ks that we're interested in.

And one 10K, that's a little over a month away (June 2). I think we're going to go for it. I don't know, is that pushing too hard, too fast? :confused3 My thought was that we could do our LRs the next five weeks at the following mileages: 4, 4, 5, 5, 6. The next Saturday would be the race.

What do y'all think?

Krista, prayers going out to your sister! :grouphug:

I should have stuck with my program and rested today. DH decided he didn't feel good and didn't want to take me out to his trail he usually runs, so I decided to just go on out in my neighborhood since I was already dressed to go.

OUCH! It was supposed to be an easy session, but I obviously wasn't recovered from yesterday. :sad2:
I went 2.84 miles at an average pace of 12:42. I did much better yesterday. Oh, well... lesson learned. :teacher:

I hate posting back to back, but I need to ask for some prayers and :wizard: for my sister. I just got off the phone with my Mom, my oldest sister, Shari, has been in hospital since Friday because of migraine headaches and high blood pressure. She is having surgery sometime today, the surgeon is actually taking a piece of her vein out above her temple to see if they can figure out why she is getting migraines and why her blood pressure won't
stabilize. I'll keep everyone posted.
Krista- I just wanted to say that I hope everything turns out for your sister.

1st of all, I GOT NEW SHOES! And I did pay with cash from my dancing!:lmao: They were out of my size in my beloved Nikes and have changed the shoe. SO....I got Mizunos. I think I am going to like them. I tried them out on the dreadmill this morning JIC they did not work...but they did.

2nd....My WOs
Monday - I biked 40 miles yesterday! The longest I have EVER gone! And I am not sore today!
Tuesday - Like I said, Dreadmill! Only 3 miles and then did weights.

3rd......a little catch up..
Krista - Lots of prayers for your sis! :grouphug: And that woman was an idoit for thinking you were preg! But, she may have mistaken your natural, beautiful glow for the glow of pregnancy!

Melissa - WOW! I am so glad you got good news about Phil! I PMed you but your post answered my question. About the spider bite...:scared1: !

Judy! Take care of yourself!:grouphug:

Good morning Racing Team!

Here's some happiness - 45 min on the TM @t 4.0 @ 1% and nothing hurt, I wasn't dizzy...it was great actually! :thumbsup2

I did, however, get chest pains and disoriented on my way into work. Now, what does THAT tell you???? :headache:

Well, Matt, now I see what I have been doing wrong all this time! I actually let BOTH feet touch the ground. Geez, how could I have been so stupid!?!?! :rotfl2:

Minnie - Oh how pretty! :goodvibes I hope you really enjoyed the trip. Did you write a trip report?

Melissa
- Poor Boy! I know how he feels! YAY for Bravery Toys! :yay: Oh I guess that's good news about Phil but man, his doctor needs to be slapped! OMG that spider bite! UGH! Hows the finger today? Still attached?

Judy - Take care of yourself. My BP was up a little at my appt last week. I attribute it to anticipation of the date I had with Mr. Rubber Glove and his friend, K-Y jelly!

Oh Mike! OH MIKE! :rotfl: I just can not read your post while I am at work! :rotfl2: OMG you are hysterical! :lmao: Thank goodness you don't have to go to the OB/GYN!

Dave
- Thanks for thinking of me. Also, I am open to bribes too!

Krista
- Oh no! MAJOR :wizard: for your sister!

Speaking of wildlife, Charlie and I were having dinner last night and looking out the sliding glass door at the pond when we see a coyote standing on the big rock on the shoreline. We see coyotes once in a while, but I have never seen this! He started trotting around the pond then pounced in and tried to catch a fish! Since when do coyotes eat fish?? :confused3 Learn something new every day.

Krista - :grouphug: Sending prayers for your sister. Kepp us posted!

Thanks everyone for the prayers and pixie dust for my sister!! I talked to my Mom a little bit ago, the surgery will not be until late afternoon/early evening. The surgeon who is doing it does not work for the hospital, but he's coming in do the surgery. The hospital has reassured my sister that the surgery is pretty basic and definitely not life threatening, so that's good. But to me, surgery is surgery and it's ALL scary, especially surgery dealing with the head/brain/temple. I'll keep every one up to date.

Melissa and Jen--I bet Stephen is freaking out over your pregnancy stories! :lmao: I sure hope I'm not pregnant right now for 2 reasons: 1. I've been drinking Diet Coke and tanning at the tanning bed; apparently they don't like you doing stuff like that when you are pregnant. :confused3 2. 9 months from now is January--we can't have any babies messing with the marathon schedule. ;) Even if I don't run in January, Stephen would like to! :)

Christa--If I'm glowing it's from the UV rays from the tanning bed!! What Mizunio's did you get? I'm getting new shoes after the Pig and I REALLY want the Mizunio Alchemy's.

Judy--We have problems with coyotes around us too. We aren't in the country, but in an area that USED to be country until the subdivisions started going up. I know there is a problem with coyotes eating small dogs.
