Wk of Apr 22--WISH Walking/Running Club

Went out for 4.05 (or 4.00 if you ask the Garmin) miles. I like my SportTracks ave. pace better than the Garmin :rotfl: (16:48 vs. 17:02).

Right around 2 miles, I totally hit a wall. I had spent about 1:45 at the dog park earlier in the day, walking and standing around, but on my feet the whole time. I think by mile 2 on my walk, my legs were a little bummed out. So my paces fluctuated a lot. I had to really ask my legs to turn it on...I went about .5 of a mile at a 13 mpm pace before they gave out on me again:lmao: It's ok. I finished and overall it was a good walk.

Having both the Garmin and SportTracks software is really fun. I went 16.57 miles this past week (M-Sun) and it tells you your ave. pace and fastest pace and all of that. It's a great way to keep track of things :)

Mel When things go right, they just feel so good! I hope your foot heals up soon.

TriMom I am so impressed you have the energy to train when you've got those little ones to look after. Welcome!

Lily No worries! The Minnie's going to go smoothly :) You'll be awesome!

Big Vic That guy is pretty impressive. Not exactly what I want to see coming home from a tough run...

Kristi At least you got out there and did something! i hope the good weather sticks around.

Matt It's so funny--swimming is pretty much the only thing I enjoy...it's the running part that makes me want to die :) All of that work you're doing--it's so impressive!

Craig That sounds like a fantastic run..everything just worked. Nice job!

TXAng I agree, find something fun and sign up! We went to outback last night. They have the best mashed potatoes :)

Angie That mean old sun, it slows everyone down! Still nine miles, however you do them, is not too shabby!

Bill I'm glad you got a run in :)

Mel - :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Melissa - Any news?

Matt - COol pix!!!

Craig - OK, now I feel rpessure. The team coach and thereapist expects results? ;) COngrats on the good run!

Solo - Hope finlals go/went well!!:wizard:

Snake Poster (sorry, scrolled past your name quickly) - Please, no more. There's a reason I live in the north, low snake quantity. ;)

OK, work has me buried. No time to resurface. Ran 8 Saturday. I hurt a bit, but I hurt more when I sit on my booty and don't run. :confused3

SOrry to everyone I missed!!!!!

OK - my first check in!

I biked 12 miles today. The toe strap on my peddle FINALLY broke, and I just had to upgrade to clipless. Today was the first day that I took the bike out for a ride with the new peddles. I AM IN LOVE!!! DH said he knew it would be a bike or a wet suit!;) I am please to announce that I did not bust my face open, or even fall over! - the 2 weeks of praticing clipping in and out on the trainer was time well spent. I will admit that I am a biking whimp and I will not ride outside if the temp is below 60. So this was the first time I have been on the road since last fall. The battery in my computer was dead, so I have no idea what my actual time was, but I am kind of glad, because I just enjoyed the ride. If I had the computer I would have watched pace, tracked cadence and all of the "training" stuff. I just rode my bike today, and I had so much fun on it.

Mel - Don't you just love PR workouts?!

disnutt - glad you are feeling better

angie - congrats on the graduation!!! And I also hope that you ajust quickly to the weather!

Lilly - *giggle* I love summer weather. But I have also been known to run through other peoples sprinklers while on a long run. Great job on the 7 miles

vic - I am terrified of snakes! - Well I am doing better with them since my 3 yo seems to be fond of them, but he has not actually brought one to me yet. WTG on the 5 miles

kristi - hope you can breathe better soon! - Look on the bright side - you got a 5 miler in!

matt - :worship: Ironman 70.3!! I'm so excited for you. I hope to do it in 2009. I think the reason that I disliked the bike so much is because I spent the last 3 months on a trainer.

Martha - just give up and cultive dandilions. I have decided to grow a large crop of wild onions in my front yard - just in case the bird flu hits and we can not get to the grocery store ;) . Seriously though if anyone knows how to kill wild onions - pass the info along. I have put weed killer down 2x to no avail.

Jen - good luck with the blueberries

Bill - you get double points for having to run at 4. Glad you got the run in.

Craig - great job on the speed work - now I know who to ask for help improving my times. I am terrified that DH will beat me at the TOT13K

bekkiz - I will second the vote for 4.05 miles - WTG!

Spring is defintely in the air.

I got whistled at last night while running! Unfortunately, it was by a couple of dorky looking guys.

I knew I was in trouble when DD10 said she liked my shorts and DD6 chimed in "Yeah, they look like girl shorts." Tough crowd!

Add to that the fact that some dude in a big truck blew his horn just as he passed me last week. Made me do that scared little jump-step thing for a stride or two while I tried not to wet myself.

Man, it's getting randy out there. I may have to invest in some mace. :rotfl:

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Not too much to report for me. I had my LR on Saturday of 7 miles. I tried to go nice and slow, but ended up running it in 1:03 for 9:00 mpm. I was excited that I ran race pace and if felt easy, but I did want to run a little slower. I'm tapering for the Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon.

Rest day yesterday, but I did run 2 miles with my princesses, DD6 princess: and DD9 princess:, as part of their 5K training. That was the farthest they've run, and as a reward I gave them each a little strechy bracelet that I bought from Fleet Feet. The bracelets are made by African children, and the money goes back to the village.

OK, work's crazy busy for me too. I have another grant that I'm working on, and I'm trying to get data for the grant before the due date. Busy, busy...

Just a quick drive by...

OK - my first check in!

TriMom--I know what you mean. I LOVE my clipless pedals, too. Glad you didn't have any "episodes" with them. The first time I took mine out for a spin, I ended up having the worst wipeout of my short biking life. It wasn't exactly because of the pedals, but I'd like to blame it on them. :rolleyes1 I still kind of giggle when I see someone with clipless pull up to a stop sign and forget they're clipped in and struggle frantically to unclip before gravity and lack of balance take their toll. :) (Only because I know the exact feeling).

Vic--NO MORE SNAKE PICS! I consider myself adequately brave for a 30 year old man, but I turn into a 4 year old girl around snakes. You almost made me jump into bed from 10 feet away last night for fear that one was under the bed. :scared1: Did I mention that I'm not fond of snakes?

Dave/Carrie--sorry works been so busy for you guys. Same here, too. It would be nice to get a chance to breathe soon.

Mel--WTG on the 8 mile PR!!! Hope your foot feels better soon.

Craig--nice job, speedy! It's funny, whenever you return from a track run, I can tell you're either going to post a really good run or a really bad one. The devil must wait for you at the high school parking lot and sit on your shoulder for the whole workout. "Craig, Craig, go faster. No, faster. FASTER!!...." :thumbsup2 Nice job on that pace!

Not too crazy with regards to workouts yesterday. Got in 30 miles on the bike in the early AM. Forgot how cold an early morning ride can be and I was sure that I was going to end up with frostbite on my fingers (wore the fingerless gloves, mistake number #1 in the cold weather). But it was a good ride nonetheless. Then spent the afternoon working on the yard. Figured the neighbors would appreciate it if our lawn height approximately matched theirs give or take 10 inches or so. ;)

Ok, gotta go work now. :sad2: Hope to catch up with you guys later. Have a great Monday, everyone!

Steve

Okay--my race season resolution is to do more personal posts...so y'all....post slow!!:thumbsup2

For now though--it is just AAM....

I am 4 weeks post partum and finally felt the call to get moving....

Got on the treadmill and walked "only":upsidedow a mile.....actually 1.04 miles in my 20 minute workout. My top speed was 4.1...that is sub-15:00. So glad that my 9 months (literally) off hasn't slowed me down too much.:woohoo:

Probably could have walked longer--but hubby was whining about something like going to work....MEN!:rolleyes1

Icing my knee right now--it feels like it is thinking about how to get back going. Never bothered me--but then the sudden weight loss from having baby....and then my now plateaued for 2 weeks stuck point (not that I am worried or anything)--and it just started acting silly.

In any case....

I'm baaa-aaaaaaccccckkkk!:yay:

I almost ruin't (that is ruined in the country;) ) my computer by spitting coffie all over it.:surfweb:

Welcome back Lisa. Lots of :wizard: for your knee and lots of :cheer2: for your walk.

Vic - OOOOOO a black racer! DD6.5 calls them a black razor!:lmao: Anywho...we have a few of those here but mainly COPPERHEADS! I had to go all kung fu on one last year b/c it was too close to my princess: princess: . That copper head didn't know what hit him!....I chopped that snake into a million pcs.:rolleyes1

Will bike today. Hope to go btwn 30 and 40 miles...maybe 35? :confused3 Maybe to the running store or near the running store to get my new running shoes. Then I will hit the pavement or trails to RUN!
Speaking of bike!
TriMom congrats on the clipless peddles. Even though I ride alot, I am a bike idiot! I have trouble with the toe cages...:lmao: No mad biking skills!

Morning team. Didn't get any xtraining done yesterday--unless coffee drinking at Starbucks is considered training (cam might agree with me!;) )But after church and coffee with the parents, time got away from me. DH had to be at work last night at 4, so no training for me.

I'm using an intermediate training plan from Higdon for hte Minnie. And he doesn't give you much, if any, taper. :confused3 Scheduled to do 10 miles this weekend. Guess it's good for my marathon base. So, I'm living vicariously through ya'll that have some taper madness!

Today, I'll probably double up,though. Gonna try to hit the gym for some xtraining (for real this time),maybe the elliptical or bike and then some weights. Then this evening will be running clinic. My parents are coming up to watch the kiddos, so no worries there.

Lisa--WTG on getting back to walking so quick after L/D. :thumbsup2 PD for your knee--hoping it was just a fluke!

Mike (optimator)--Here's me reading your post:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: Our resident comedian!

Well, I better go--gotta get my last kid, I mean DH, out of bed. Have agreat Monday all. And to all who have WTO right now:wizard: and:hug:

Oh, yeah! I need to add that to must read. :lmao:

Good morning!

Started week 3 of 13 this morning. I had to up my running time to 3 minutes from 2 of last week and then walk 2.

I prayed I could do it and it went well!

Nike+ had me at 4.13 miles with an average pace of 12:08... Hey! If I keep that up maybe I won't get picked up by the sweeper bus! :woohoo:

I was looking ahead and I don't increase my running time again until week 6?!? Looks like I cut down on my walking time though to a minute in week 5.

Angie - Good luck on your presentation tonight! :goodvibes

Mike - I wish someone would whistle at me and I don't care if they're dorky or not! :rotfl:

Lisa - Congrats on your baby boy! :yay:

Susie--did you read the guarantee at the bottom???:rotfl: Gotta love the Hash House Harriers! This must be some kinda race, if getting pregnant is under the warnings!

When is this race? I need to run it!! :thumbsup2

Yesterday was a rest today for me, although as we all know, rest days aren't REALLY rest days! While Stephen did the yardwork, I did laundry and cleaned the house. Nothing super serious, just wiped off the kitchen counters and dusted. Tonight I have 3 miles--I love the taper!!!!!

Mike--Girl shorts??? Were they pink? :lmao: Oh, I know, I know, it was a running skirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Lisa--Welcome back!! I'm glad to hear that things are looking good post baby. I still can't believe you signed up for Goofy. How is the baby?

Vic--UGH!!!! :scared: :scared: :scared: I'll join everyone else in yelling "I HATE SNAKES!!!!!!!"

Christa--Riiiiight, it's not "that" kind of dancing. ;)

Craig--Your run sounds awesome! Congrats! I'm still laughing about you saying that Matt looked like a giant condom!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Kristi--I hope you are feeling better!!!!! I'm so glad I don't have to deal with any asthma or allergy issues.

Mel--Your run sounds great! I love it when everything just falls into place and you have a perfect run.

TriMom--Welcome!!!!!! Stephen (my DH--skfulkers) is just getting into doing tri's, so I'm sure he'll be hitting you up for lots of info. Your bike ride sounds awesome, makes me almost want to get into biking. And then I look at the scars on my knees from tripping over my feet while running. If I can't handle 6.0 mph, how in the world can I handle 25?

Angie--I think it's funny that a Floridian can't handle the FL heat! ;) When I was running on Saturday and it was 80 degrees and it felt like I was going to puke with every step I took, I thought to myself, "I'm sure glad I'm not doing the Minnie, running in FL in May?? NO WAY!!!" Good luck!!

Carrie--Good to see you back. I was just getting ready to send to dogs out for you!!

Dave--13 days til the Pig!!!!!   Have I mentioned how excited I am??

Bill--Great job getting that run in! How was Lynnda's birthday?

Where's Helen???????????????

It occurred to me that toward the end of my long runs, I don't just look tired and sweaty - to the gators, I probably look like prey flailing around in distress!! :scared1: I think we could use Christa's "wildlife management" skills down here in Florida. :lmao:

Did 5mi on the TM this morning in 52 mins. Not bad, considering my legs felt like lead. Cannot wait for Minnie taper week to begin!

Have a good day everybody!

lol about looking like gator food. There was a hawk flying over us for a long time last week. I was sure he thought I looked like potential road kill!

Krista - SOrry I worried you. I'll try to do better. ;) BTW, If you have surfaces to dust, you're one step ahead of me. Laundry is definitely XT! I did all mine and put it away yesterday woo hoo! OK, so you're going to teh race with pg warnings and your dh adn Dave are tying each otehr up. Things just keep gettign curiouser adn curiouser around here! :rotfl:

DOwn to 40 min tonight. Yay! May postpone to tomorrow if those thunderstorms headed are way are still here in the pm.

Shan - WTG! No way will you have to worry about sweepers!!! :cool1:

"No doubt a brain and some shoes are essential for marathon success, although if it comes down to a choice, pick the shoes. More people finish marathons with no brains than with no shoes."

Don Kardong, 1976 Olympic marathoner

This was my Runner's World motivational quote this morning. I'm living proof that the shoes are the secret!:rotfl:

CrazySecretRecipe- You better not let those gators know your user name or they will think you must be a home delivered dinner!

Good morning!

Ok, no more snake pictures. :rolleyes1 Steve – ya big sissy! :rotfl:

Seems I aggravated something in my left foot. I’ve had a touch of PF for a while, but it never bothered me that much. When I finished my run yesterday the bottom of my foot hurt, and it’s continued hurting. It’s right at the top of the arch, inside portion of the foot, and extends back to the heel. Guess I’ll stay off of it for a few days and see what happens.

Kristi – Good job with the 5 miles. Hope you're feeling better.

Martha – Biking and leaf raking. Great XT.

Jenn – Hope the foot is doing ok.

Craig – Great job and a great pace!

TXAng – Whatcha have for dinner at Outback?

Matt – You’re a machine!

Angie – Great job with the LR and good luck with your presentation.

Bill – WTG with the LR. Glad to hear the family is doing well.

Bekkiz – Keep up the great training!

Carrie – WTG with the 8 miler!

TriMom – Great job with the 12 miles on the bike.

Mike(Optimator) – You sexy thing, you! ;) :rotfl2:

Dave – WTG with the 7 miler.

Lisa – Welcome back!

Christa – I don’t do copperheads either. We don’t see a lot of snakes around the house, and I always check them out when they come around. Don’t want the boys to have an encounter. Earnhardt would probably leave it alone. Dusty, on the other hand, would wind up getting bit.

Dancing for money, Hmmmmmmmmmm. :woohoo: ;)

Susie – Hash House Harriers, a drinking club with a running problem. :lmao:

Shan – Great job with the training!

Krista – I guess pictures of the snake exhibit at the Army Ranger camp is out of the question? :confused3

CrazySecretRecipe – WTG with the 5 miler! Watch out for those gators.

Take care.

:)

VIC - Oh the Foot! Take care of it so you don't end up like me having to take a week plus off. It am so antsy it's not even funny!!! I took the strapping off my foot this morning because it was loose and my foot itched something fierce. The inflamation bump is gone, but it is still tender. The podiatrist is having me ice with a frozen water bottle, roll it with your arch. It's been working for me! GOOD LUCK!

Krista and Carrie - I dusted this weekend also. My DD turns 4 on Sunday, so I am being forced to clean and dust and all those other fun things so that I am not embarrassed by my relatives coming over!

We are having a Sponge Bob party and I am struggling for ideas. We are serving Crabby Patty Hamburgers and a pineapple with fruit dip. That's all I have for ideas!
