Why so hard to get DVC Apparel

We looked high and low at the DVC Resorts this trip and couldn't find non-resort specific DVC apparel anywhere. Yes they have tons of items with one specific resort on them, but I am proud of being DVC not a particular resort. There are some resorts that I don't care to wear, but a DVC MEMBER shirt would be fine with me. Are we the only ones that are happy to be part of the DVC familly and would like a knit shirt with the DVC EMBLEM? We spoke with a CM at DTD who told us that we could find the polo shirts with the DVC Emblem stating "Member" at resort gift shops, we went to check it out and was told by the CM working at the information desk (SSR) that they didn't know where to purchase them and they wore them because they "Had to" which highly insulted the DH and I because we are PROUD to be DVC MEMBERS and want to share the "Best Kept Secret!" Looks like the folks making the marketing decisions would get wise because they are losing a BUNDLE by keeping the DVC items at such a minimum!!! :confused3

I agree with you. I wish they would sell clothing with just the DVC emblem.we looked all over when we were there in August for clothing with just the DVC emblem. We stayerd at POFQ for a couple of nights before our BWV stay. I saw a young man there at the food court wearing a golf shirt with a DVC emblem on it. I was so excited that I asked him where he got his shirt. He said he was a CM working at the DVC kisok at the resort! He was very nicce about the whole thing. I think that years ago they had clothing with the DVC emblem but I'm not sure.

Yes, this has mystified me too. Usually Disney is quick to market anything and everything that will turn a dollar for them. I'd think that there would be a corner of the Disney market that would be eager to buy DVC stuff. Go figure. :confused3

We were just there and noticed that the shopping at WDW in general is not as great as it once was - not as much selection of neat, different stuff.

I would have loved a DVC shirt, but only saw one in a color I didnt like - drab brown.

How about adding the ability to order DVC merchandise from the website, since they are currently upgrading the member site anyway.....

I agree---DVC Members would spend their dollars buying DVC specific merchandise, especially on a website designed for DVC Members only, and I also agree with SyrCindererlla, we saw the same t-shirt---the only thing available, outside of an $80.00 non-resort specific windbreaker, in the same drab brown color---not appealing at all. The DH (who has shyed from wearing MM sweatshirts) would LOVE a polo with the DVC Logo and the word "Member" underneath it---I would love a sweatshirt with the same logo....maybe one day.....

Count me in. I did find a nice polo shirt at OKW that played up the DVC emblem and member, but it still had OKW on it.

I had a very nice "Members are Magical" ball cap that I unfortunately left at the CG one night after dinner last year. It never showed up at "Lost and Found". :(

I haven't seen that style for sale since. As the OP stated, the merchandise now seems to be resort specific.

Having been in DVC for 10+ years, I recall several Disney efforts to put DVC merchandise on the shelf. Despite a few msgs. on these boards supporting more DVC mdse., evidently it doesn't sell in sufficient quantities to justify its manufacture. In many cases I've seen it a second time at the outlet stores. :smooth:

They gave a DVC golf umbrella as a prize in the draw at a member meeting we attended a couple of weeks ago.

Several members enquired where they could buy one only to be sold that they were not offered for sale - just old stock issued to Guides etc.

I agree Disney are missing out on potential revenue - especially considering the growth in member numbers recently

I think the last count was 100,000 DVC families. Let's just assume a family will average 5 people. That's a half million family members, not even counting extended family members. We all have plopped down THOU$AND$ of dollars already. We still have some money left to spend on DISNEY. WAKE UP DVC, this 'stuff' would be FREE ADVERTIZING!!!

Yes someone told us that they had tried to sell the DVC polos in the past with just the logo and it was not very successful. He also mentioned that he believes it was only available in one color at that time. I agree with marlouwrig that with the increasing numbers of members, a wider selection of colors and a little more easily obtainable (ie: in Disney Stores outside the park), this would probably be worth a try again.

I bought a generic DVC polo a few years ago and I could have bought any color I wanted, as long as it was white. It has a really nice large DVC emblem embroidered on it, but the white did not hold up well. I still have it, but only to change the oil on my lawn tractor now.

White was the color the CM told me they came in initially. I would have bought a white one this trip if they had been available, however that would certainly not be my color of choice. Maybe the quality of the first ones were an issue also, I don't know. I can tell you that I purchased 2 different Polo type shirts this trip just not a DVC one. had the DVC shirts been available I would have probably gotten 2 of them. Even the rain jackets had the logo embroidered on them, I just don't need a rain jacket. DVC is missing out, maybe they want it to stay "The Best Kept Secret"?

I bought a golf shirt at BCV our first trip home in June '03. It's well-made, nay blue with gold/khaki trim; Mountain/sea logo and Disney Vacation Club, Members Are Magical above and below it. It's very nice. I'd buy more things like this. As I recall, they also had a powder blue with cream trim combination of the same type.

Through the years they had quite a few things with the logo on it. In fact, if you wanted it with member on it, you had to send it out and they would mail it to you. We have a golf shirt that is striped green and white and one that is sort of multi colored with purple on the sleeve. I have a shorts outfit and a v neck shirt as well as a few sweatshirts and jackets. I too would like to have more member things. When we bought, it was just the DVC and I refuse to buy anything that has a resort logo on with it!

BillPA, I can hear DVC now -- if we make lots of money selling branded merchandise to our memebers who are falling all over themselves asking for it we will have to abandon our marketing theme -- "best kept secret" :rotfl2:

I agree - wake up DVC we are your best sales force!!!!!!!

if I remember correctly back in August... Beach Club gift shop had several DVC items

The shop at WL did not have much to offer and considering this was my first DVC trip I wanted to spend MONEY! They had as I remember...keychain, ornament,a very blotto tan t-shirt with small logo, magnet (bought one) shotglass, notepaper cube (bought one), windbreaker jacket (WOW expensive!), sticker, plastic like pack. Hmmmm... thats all I remember. Nothing that was specific for VWL. Seemed to me that OKW had alot more to offer but that was when I stayed prior to being a DVC member. Now that I am looking I cant find!
