Whats the NICEST thing that has happened to you at WDW???

Just a little something that happened over the weekend.
My arthritis was acting up and I needed a visit at Disney so I rented one of the Scooters so I could get around easier, and faster.
I went to the line for Animation at MGM, and the CM said that the scooters don't make it thru all the doors, I told them I didn't mind standing to wait for a bit, but that when you go in and they talk abount Animation and any questions, there is not alot of room to sit. The CM told me they would have someone save a seat for me so I didn't have to stand thru the presentation. I just thought that was so nice.

(this is maybe going to sound like i'm patting myself on the back but i have to to set the stage)
before we went to WDW this past time, reading some of the posts about how people would basically rather kill than share space with someone during a parade really bothered me. I hadn't really had bad experiences before and so was shocked so many got so riled ( sp) up about it.

while in Mk for spectro , i was beat ( have an illness that zaps my strenght sometimes) and so long before the parade ( at least an 1 1/2 hrs) sat on a bench that was out of the way to rest. i thought i might be able to see the parade from there but if not, so be it as I was to tire d to stand in the crowds by the street. a few mins. before parade time a large family group , grandparents, kids , grandkids came by us. i recognzied the dad as a guy who had been circling the area for the whole time i had been on the bench & from the way they came up it was obviously their favorite spot to view the parade and i think they were coveting my bench:) .they seemed disappointed but didn't say anything just stood where we all could see. my husband got up and let the grandma and very pregnant mommy to be sit there while grandpa held the little one. we all had a great view of spectro, had a nice conversation and it restored my faith that people don't have to be creeps to get a nice view, just show some normal good manners! course that has to go for both sides!

Our first Magical Moment was on our honeymoon in 1998. We were booked on the Big Red Boat for a cruise. Anyone remember what happened? The boat didn't sail, due to a mistake on the part of the company, Premier Cruise Lines (now out of business). After standing in line 2 days trying to get a refund (which we couldn't get immediately, anyway), DH called WDW to try and "salvage" the honeymon. We wanted to stay in the Contemporary, even though it was way out of our price range. DH told the CM what had happened, and asked for the cheapest room at the CR. We had to max out our credit cards, but at that point, decided it would be worth it. Next morning, we drove from the Marriott at the airport (where we were staying because of the cruise problems) to the CR. We were greeted by name when we arrived. All the CMs were sympathetic to what had happened. As we checked in, we got the surprise of our life! We had been upgraded to Concierge Level (14th floor), MK view! There was also a gift basket in our room later in the week. We had always loved Disney, but at that point we became converts for life! :D

Went back to CR two years later for an anniversary trip...upgraded to the tower again, bay view. Received balloons and a card signed by Cinderella and Prince Charming.

For DS' first trip last September (age 18mos), we booked ASMo, because he LOVES Toy Story. DH told CM when making reservations. We had balloons and an autographed picture from Woody in the room.

That same trip, we went to Chef Mickey's for our first full day. DS was intimidated by the characters, but Minnie took her time with him, and by the end of the breakfast, we were ALL in love with Minnie! :D We had a late seating, and at the end, it was just us and one other family there. We had all the characters to ourselves, for about 20 minutes.

Last trip (May), we got lucky and got a last minute PS at Cape May before leaving on our last day. It was a Saturday, and they were packed. A very rude woman was extremely angry and treating the CM (hostess) terribly~Why do we have to wait, blah, blah, blah. Later, DH went up to the CM and apologized to her for the way that woman had treated her. We again had a late seating, and were practically the only ones left in the restaurant. The CM followed DH back to our table, and talked to us for about 30 minutes. Our server came and talked with us, too. Before we left, they gave us all to-go cups with beverages of our choice, and had another CM blow up balloons for DS (they only give balloons for birthdays, apparently). They were the sweetest ladies! We promised to come see them in September! :D

Last week, DH was making a PS and asked about September rates. The CM was so helpful, and gave us a wonderful rate for PC. After a long conversation with her, DH asked if he could leave a commendation for her, and was transferred to a voice mail, so he could do that. Later in the week, for some reason, we decided we should double check on the code (did we need a pin #, which we didn't have?)...and turns out, the code she used for us was NOT one we were eligible for. DH was so worried that she would get in trouble...he called back and asked for a supervisor, and explained the situation, saying that maybe she had misunderstood what he was asking, and please don't let this get her in trouble! The supervisor did some checking, and promised to call us back today with our rate~she said she would try to match the one given us by the original CM, but she wouldn't know until today. We haven't heard from her yet, but I'm sure we will soon. She was appreciative of DH making sure that a CM didn't get in trouble because of a possible mistake on our part!

In our experience, if you are nice to a CM, they will be nice to you. WDW should be a magical place for EVERYONE, even those who work there! ::MickeyMo

The most magical Disney moment for us happened during our visit to MVMCP last December.

We had been in the park since 4 - allowed entry early - and had a fantastic evening celebrating the season. DS who is 5, was tired after a busy day slept on and off in the stroller through the late parade, and we decided to head back to the hotel just around midnight.

As we began to gather our belongings out of the stroller we realized DS's favorite stuffed animal, Puppy, was not with us!!

We didn't know where we had lost him, or how long ago.

Long story short, I convinced DW, a very sad DS and Auntie K to head back to the resort without me, and I went back into MK to look for Puppy.

Not too long into my search I found Puppy ontop of a trash can on the sidewalk of Main Street!!

Some very nice person had found our son's very much loved stuffed animal and picked him up and placed him where he could be found.

A magical ending to our day.

Many things. First, we got to enter the MK early without the "getting into the park hour early" time. We got seated for Crystal Palace quickly without a reservation. We got so much Mickey Confeddi on our tables, and free dessert at Tony's (Lady and the Tramp restraunt.) We got free hot cocoa at Guiredellia (sp?). The barber shop courtee (sp?) sang When You Wish Upon A Star. Also, we got to "open MGM Studios." And we got great seats front and center at Fantasmic.

I think it helps when you go on your honeymoon.

This is a great thread!

Just this past weekend...my husband forgot to pay the deposit on our room at WL so when we went to check in, there was no room for us. I was furious with my husband - I had made the reservations months ago and had gotten a really good deal (we usually stay at moderates) - so I was really disappointed. The CM was so nice - clearly it was our fault - but he helped us call around to the other resorts and found us a room at the CBR. I was still upset with my husband and sad as we checked into the CBR, and the CM asked what happened. The next day when we came back to our room there was a big bunch of balloons and a card with a picture and a note from Mickey and Minnie saying that they hoped we enjoyed our vacation!!! I'm 28, but I still was so excited - I'll keep that card forever!! I thought that was very thoughtful of the CM! And it certainly made my vacation!

What a nice thread! :)

Almost 3 years ago I was at the MK with my best friend and some fellow DISers for my birthday. I think they must have pumped the place full of magic just for me because I've never had such a nice day before or since.

There were two highlights that just made my day. Up to this point I had always been a little weirded out by the characters. Yes, at 23 years old, the characters kind of scared me. So in my numerous trips I had avoided them at all costs! So for lunch we ate at the Crystal Palace, Pooh Character Meal ya'll! Characters! Tigger is my absolute favorite but I was a little aprehensive about these characters still. Pooh came over, okay, he's kind of cuddly and sweet, then Piglet, not bad at all, then eeyore, so sweet (even though he conked me on the head last year!) but where is my pal Tigger? Finally he shows up and he gave me a big smackerooni! Tigger gives the best kisses ever! :teeth: This was my first character experience and now I'm hooked on them! LOL I also got a birthday card signed by all the characters and a birthday cupcake. :)

The other thing that happened was that me and CrazyboutDisney (Beth) had just gotten birthday buttons and were out on main street when the Dapper Dans saw our buttons and sang Happy Birthday to us right there. That was super nice!

So those are the two nicest things that have every happened to me at WDW, so far, I'm looking forward to many more nice things! ::yes::

we took the illuminations cruise on july 19th and it was great. we felt it was money well spent.

what made it perfect is that after we docked i asked Angelo, who was our captain , what was the easiest way to get back to the WL. without hesitation he told us to get back in and took us over to MGM to get the bus back to WL. it saved us much time and trouble..

thank you Angelo!!!

he made a perfect ending to a long day a perfect one for us.

gotta\ change that countdown clock and add our next date

After the most wonderful Jungle Cruise ever with a CM named Sandra, she asked another CM to go back to her office and get DS the cards that go with the Safety Pins he was collecting. I thought that was awfully nice.

I think one of the sweetest things that happened to my family was on our last trip a few years ago. My mom, dad, and I were in line for Space Mountain and a CM said "Hey I haven't seen you in a while! Have you visited the castle yet?" Mom: "No we, haven't but we are going to be there later." CM: "Well say Hello to Cindy! Did you hear she has a new boyfriend?" Mom: "Oh really, who?" CM: "Some guy named Prince Charming. Hope to see you again soon." All the while I am thinking who is this guy, how does he know my mom, and (for a moment) who the heck is Cindy? My mom got a good laugh out of it, since she had never met him before. When we had finished the ride the same CM was waiting for us and asked if we wanted to ride again. We did, and he took us "the backway" to where you board you "rocket ship". It is something I will always remeber. :p

What a GREAT thread!

We had our own bit of magic at the Halloween party this year. My 4 yr old DS was trying to get the attention of the 6 of hearts from Alice in Wonderland (they were handing out the Trick or Treat candy). She starting talking to him & DD and before we knew it she asked if we'd like to ride a roller coaster. She took us up the back way to Goofy's Barnstormer and rode the ride WITH us! The 6 of Hearts, My son dressed as Buzz, and my daughter dressed as Minnie! She held onto them and talked in character the entire time. It was so wonderful!

During my DD's first trip to WDW (18 months old), we stayed at Dixie Landings. Her favorite doll at the time was a very simple, non-descript yellow doll, which she called Dolly. And one day she left the doll in our room.

When we came home from a long day at the park, we noticed that Dolly was taking a nap on the heating/cooling unit. Our housekeeping CM had taken some towels and created a sleeping bag and pillow for Dolly. It made my daughter's first trip very special.

Another memorable CM was a bus driver one rainy night at the end of the day at the MK. As you can imagine, the bus was filled with tired parents and crying kids. Our bus driver began singing the "wheels on the bus" song. And when he got to the fathers on the bus, the father's were singing "Get me off, get me off." He had everyone laughing and singing to the point that the people at the first stop said they did not want to get off.

The CM's truly know how to make our trips magical.

@ MVMCP in 97, we were hanging around in front of one of the stores in Frontierland and a CM cam up to us and asked us if we wanted to see the parade from the balcony of the store. Man was that great....

We've had many nice things happen at WDW over the years and our many trips. These are some of my favorites:
1) On one of our earlier trips our second DD was celebrating her 3rd birthday-she is now 14. We went to the Hoop Dee Doo Review. Well the CM's saw her birthday pin and the next thing we know she is onstage with the performers!
2) In 2001 we were there in August and as usual I'm taking the heat for getting everyone up and out early for the Early Entry Morning at the MK. Well it is dark at the bus stop at BWV, we get on an empty bus and as we pull up to the MK there is no one there! We are first in line and get to open the park with the magic words "Bibbity, Bobbity, Boo" which the kids had picked out years before! We then had a commemorative picture taken, got magic wands and rode up Main St. in the fire truck,... For Christmas that year each kid got a frame with the picture from that morning, the magic Mickey confetti, their park pass and their Magical Moment certificate in it. They all have them hanging in their rooms.
3) Last March on the Wonder my DS then age 10 and I got picked from the audience to play "Walk The PlanK". He is so competitive that every question was life or death to him! Thankfully we did win the game and received medals. When we went to dinner after that the family next to our table gave us a standing ovation!
I just love WDW!
Debbie

On our "honeymoon" (which we didn't get to take until almost our first anniversary) my normally reserved husband got pulled up on stage at the adventurers club, and ended up doing a sort of pelvic-thrust-strip-style dance with Samantha!! What was even funnier was when we went back the next night, the same CM was there, but she was playing Dottie, the maid. She wasn't sure if she should "recognize" us or not!!

On a "we're total idiots" note: on the same trip, we were at Epcot, and a cm pulled us over as were were walking past spaceship earth, which was closed at the time. Asked us if we wanted to see something. My dh, I guess still thinking "city" said no thank you, and off we went. I just beat myself up wondering what we missed!!!

Sometimes it works before you even get there.
DD was so excited to be going to Florida, relatives and WDW. First she hugged a lady vaguely resembling her Grandma and exclaims in the happiest voice "Grandma". This was while i was checking luggage.
Then as we are at the boarding gate she hugs 'Grandpa'! It made his day.
