Funny you should mention this today. There's a recipe in today's newspaper for Emeril's Creole seasoning (makes 2/3 cup):

2 1/2 Tbsp. paprika
2 Tbsp. salt
2 Tbsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. black pepper
1 Tbsp. onion powder
1 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp. dried oregano
1 Tbsp. dried thyme

That's exactly what I do, the longer it simmers the better, you shouldn't need to add more tomatoes or wine.

Kathy- I make his seasonings and use them often. I bought one once and have been making them ever since.

Hi Jessie,

My name is Ann, I am new to the thread too. I am a SAHM to a beautiful 16 month old DS Luke. My DH is Ron, and I have a DSD (Jessie) and DSS (Eric). My DH is the original WDW fanatic but he has converted me and I am raising my DS as one. We are a week away from our 4th trip to WDW this year. My DH works two jobs, so we are really looking forward to taking it easy at WDW.

My love of food comes from my DM. I am the only girl in a family of seven children, therefore I was always my DM sidekick. My DH was deprived of good homecooked food in his prior marriage :rotfl: , so he enjoys anything I put in front of him!

Look forward to sharing with all you nice DISers!
Ann

I'm Laura and a SAHM (although sometimes I wonder where the stay-at-home part is) to Liam (8 almost 9) and Caili (6). Liam's favorite sport is baseball -- we are diehard Red Sox fans -- and Caili figure skates. My husband is Greg. He is in the Army and currently is deployed in Iraq, his second tour. I love to cook, but I don't love cooking three separate meals, so my weekday meals are generally kid-friendly. Liamsaunt, Becky, is my sister and best friend. We cook together almost every Sunday for our family. There are usually only six of us, but there is often enough food for 16. We've gone to Disney together the past three years.

Oh, and I have trouble writing short messages.

Lindsay -- I am glad Scott is feeling better.

Glynis -- I hope you are staying warm and safe. I hope all those kids got home. I can't imagine how my two would handle that situation.

I have some good news -- Caili is finally starting to feel better! :yay: Thanks for all your well-wishes! She still has a low fever without Motrin, but she is out of bed and she couldn't wait to take a shower this morning. Her appetite hasn't fully returned though.

Right now, I am planning to have the leftovers from the roast chicken plus cheesy cauliflower, but if Caili suddenly decides she wants dinner, I will make whatever sounds good to her.

ETA -- Happy Valentine's Day!

It'll take me a while to get everyone down pat but the intros are definitely helping! :thumbsup2

Hello fellow chatty people!

Aimee Sorry to hear your church trouble have come to this. I hope the mediator can bring closure.

Who wants a 13 yr old boy? I will pay someone. The child has given me more gray hair that I can afford to get. His crime was he didn't answer the phone for over an hour this morning. Why he was busy "doing busy stuff":confused3 I think it translates to playing video games.:rolleyes1

I'm Janice working mom to the offending boy child. Step mom to Hershey (australian sheepdog) Minnie (australian terrier) and 3 cats Athena, Brucie and Mew.

Lots of moms in here. Thank goodness for now, I'm just cooking for 2!

Since I don't have to cook tonight, I ahve decided to try out the CRAZY bear meat tomorrow night. I need to go fish around in the deep freeze for it.

Julius' dad has a friend who owns a meat and fish shop and we get all of our meat and fish for free. We have a huge freezer full of tilapia, shrimp, crab, chicken, deer, bear, bacon, venison, etc. Its absolutely fantastic. The only problem is there is almost never any beef, and it gets a bit repetitive so I have to be creative.

Free children no thanks..I have my own sources giving me grey hair!:lmao:

Free seafood now that on the other hand is a beautiful thing! Venison & bear :scared1: no thank you! Free meat and seafood boy would that help my food budget, I keep blowing!

Ann

thankfully we don't get too much of the weird stuff. I have never tried the bear, don't like venison, and the wild boar just stunk up the whole house. We do occassionally get beef, and fairly often we get pork sausage, but it's mostly chicken and seafood. It definitely helps the food budget because I can buy more oddities that cost more and I wouldn't normally buy.

I'm so happy Caili is feeling a bit better. I know the feeling of wanting to cook whatever that baby wants. I still do it with my baby.;)

It's a horrible feeling when you can't get in touch with them, just wait till he does it when he's out driving himself around.:rolleyes1 You've got a few more years before that happens.:goodvibes

I believe someone asked for the Bolognese recipe earlier, I can't find it. I know I posted it prior to Sunday but I haven't had time to dig.:guilty:

I wish that I could contribute to your V Day but I must live the same way, I'm afraid. I love my DH dearly but he is not very good when it comes to Holidays. He has remembered card once in a while, some are better than others, and we have gone to dinner....again not too often. He sent flowers to me one time, it was for Easter and then I found out that his brother sent them for him. I knew him well enough to know that it was Gary's idea :rolleyes1. He has sent them to Marisa more times than me...for a special Valentine when she was 8 and two dozen pink and white long stemmed roses when Kady was born. Good think he amuses me....he'd be freezer filler
:lmao: :lmao: I feel the same way Nancy. I should be ashamed of myself to admit this, but I blew a gasket at Kenny after Christmas this year. He is the WORST when it comes to gift giving. After several holidays of "I didn't have time" or "I didn't know what to get" or "You know I hate to shop, just get something for yourself and I'll pay for it"; I finally lost my cool. I told him that on the very next gift giving holiday he had better arrive with a box in hand, gift wrapped, with a bow on top. No excuses. So I received my guilt inspired gift this morning, a cute pendant not at all my tastes, but given by a smiling husband. I really do love that man. Why he loves me is beyond me.

Alan made it home by 10:30 last night. He was supposed to be home at 6:30, but there were so many accidents he just kept getting sent on stories. The latest on the schools is not too good. There were about 350 students still at schools as of 9:30 last night. By 10:30 all but 165 had been picked up by parents. Those 165 live in far out areas, and parents couldn't get in to get their kids. They were all taken to one school, where the principal and several teachers volunteered to stay, and they had a massive "sleep over" in the library. As of 7:00 this morning, they are all still there, but the school is closed for the day. The hope is that the parents will be able to pick these kids up sometime before noon. They have the kitchen open, and the kids have been fed, and entertained.

How horrible. I hope those children are "rescued" today.

You bet they're easy or I wouldnt be doing them. I use Tony's seasoning and I'm pretty liberal with the liquid smoke and the garlic. Be sure and rub your meat well.......;)

Did Kenny give you this recipe?!? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi! Quickly checking in...I have 2 guys here today installing an ADT security system. Tom is paranoid someone will take me when he is not here! In his defense it is desolate (sp) here. No street lights, 150 feet from the road and pitch black at night.

I think I torture these guys when they are here. I started the bolognese sauce and one guys said "whatever you are cooking, sure smells good!"

It sure sounds good. I've wanted to make it but I thought it would be too time consuming and my life is just too busy right now. But boy, you and Kathy are making it sound good.

I'm so happy to hear Caili is feeling better! What a relief for you!

No thanks. I have one and that is more than enough. Between him and the two girls, there are moments I'd like to run away from home. Not that I'd get very far with the $3.27 I have in my wallet because I'm sure Kenny would cancel my credit cards at the first whif of my flight.

Angel, I'll try to get you a bio on me, but it'll have to wait until maybe tonight, I'm doing a quick fly by since I had to catch up on all the reading for the last day and a half.

Tonight we are having baked spaghetti that I prepped last night. I have a hair appointment at 5:00 and I knew I wouldn't have time to get home and make dinner. Kenny and I are planning a dinner out on Saturday because it is just too hard to manage a dinner out on a school night.

Gotta get back to work, but I'll check in tonight if I can.

That's very sweet of him and he loves you because you're a wonderful woman and he had nothing to do with that recipe.:lmao: :lmao:

My name's Becky (35), my husband's name is John (38). We've been married for 10.5 years and together for 15. We are kid-free and pet-free by choice, but love spoiling my sister's kids, and spend as much time with them as possible. I'm the assistant to a university vice president, John is an international tax attorney. My big sister Laura (liamandcaili) is my best friend and my sous chef. I make her obey my every command in the kitchen ;) , and we turn out some pretty good food once in a while.

I love to cook (obviously), and enjoy photography, reading, container gardening, swimming, crossword puzzles, and traveling. John and I are both HUGE Red Sox fans and go to as many games as we can.

Still thinking on dinner...

Ohhhhhh what I wouldn't give for a sous chef!!!

it's really great to "meet" everyone!!

My turn :)

I'm Lindsay, obviously. My family consists of me (29) and my husband Scott (also referred to as Pooh, he's 35). We live just outside of Chattanooga, TN. I enjoy singing, reading, and most of all, COOKING!! I am a 30 Minute Meal junkie and make a LOT of recipes from Rachael Ray.

I am also a paraplegic. I say this because if you ever see me mention something about my wheelchair, you will be in the know. Here's a pic. Left to right it's me, my husband, my friend Robin, and my BIL Kevin who is also Robin's fiance. The two of them are kind of on my ^&*) list right now, lol!

Alan just called me. All the kids have now been picked up by parents. He said it was tough going, though. He was traveling to work along a road that was closed (getting video for news), and there were about 50 abandoned cars along the side of the road, that were buried up to their roofs. Search and rescue spent most of the night evacuating people! Kudos to them!!!

Now, the sun is out, and things are melting once again! That's the way I like it!

Are you sure you aren't me????

*looks around to make sure no one else steals my identity*

Seriously, I am a huge 30 minute meals fan (29) DF is (35), well I love the food network in general but adore 30 minute meals. I got the ENTIRE line of Rachel Ray cookware at my Bridal shower a couple weeks ago! I even get told I look like her!

You're even in a familiar neck of the woods. I went to Appalachian State
