Good morning everyone!

Glynis - I sure hope all of those kids made it home safely. How scary..:sad1:

Sheryl -Have a great & safe trip!

I'm trying a new recipe tonight it's a Baked Ziti with ground beef & Italian sausage. I'm also serving roasted cauliflower and garlic bread.

Oh you guys, I forgot to tell you a humdinger of a story.

Kevin is on the road for work. He called my husband last night while I was at church and asked him, if you can believe this...

"Can you pick up some flowers for Robin and take them to work tomorrow (Valentine's Day)?"

Seriously? Seriously?! Dude, Valentine's Day has been February 14 for how long now?? Did you REALLY just ask your brother to take your fiancee flowers, let alone the DAY before Valentine's Day???!!!

The guy really is clueless.

By doctor's orders, Scott is home from work the rest of the week so he couldn't have done it even if he wanted to.

*By the way, has anyone noticed that I am a huuuuuuuuuuuuge Grey's Anatomy fan yet??*

Good Morning All!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I posted my menu yesterday so I will not repost.

Lindsay, I cannot believe that about your BIL! The first Valentine's Day is the most important and he should be spending top dollar on a nice arrangement that gets delivered and not by your brother! Well, what is his plan now since Scott is home sick?

It has turned WICKED here! White out conditions with wind blowing so strongly! The freeway is still closed, and we are now getting word that 3 of the elementary schools in our area had kids on school buses from 3:30-7:30 this evening. At this point, all the kids are now off the buses and are waiting at schools for parents to be able to pick them up. School kitchens have been opened, so the kids have been fed, and they are bedding them down in libraries and classrooms until they hear from parents. I'm so glad that my kids made it home from school today!!!

These poor children. I hope Alan got home safe.

Happy Valentine's Day all!

Didn't ever get around to posting yesterday. But my neighbor and I went out for Happy Hour at a sushi place. Love her DH for watching my kids along with their's since my DH was out of town. We had the best sushi and ordered WAY TOO much. Scott was glad last night after flying back in late, to have a nice to go box in the fridge to snack on. The spicy tuna was to die for...yummo!

Sheryl--Be safe and have a wonderful trip!

Lindsey--Sure hope you're not coming down with the flu.

No big V day plans here. Getting ready for the IL's tomorrow and Emma's V Day party at school today. I hope someone gets a lovely expensive gift, so I can live vicarioulsy through you!

I feel like I came into the convo like 60 pages too late. I wish I knew more so I could contribute more.

DF and I LOVE sushi. I've been wanting to try making it at home.

Nah, some of us just are a little more chatty than others......:rolleyes1 Heck, I've been here since the beginning and still can't stay caught up most days. I try to keep up as much as possible, but mainly come here for dinner ideas--the ladies here have kept my dinners a lot more varied that would be otherwise!

Cool! Well I am always looking for ideas! I watch the food netwrok like CRAZY. My DF thinks I'm crazy because I could put it on in the morning, never change the channel, and be perfectly happy.

I've been doing them in the oven for about a year now and we love them. I put them on a rack in a baking pan so that all the fat drains off. I rub them with creole seasoning, liquid smoke and that garlic in oil that you can buy in a jar. I cover them with foil and bake at 325 for about 2 hours. Uncover, slather on the SBRs and run under the broiler. YUMMO!!!!!!

I've always wanted to attempt these at home because they're pushing $20 a rack :scared1: at our favorite spot here in town, but I didn't want to babysit them on the grill. This looks (ahem...) Easy!

Kathy - Couple of questions on the Baby Backs.....
What creole seasoning are you using? DH is growing tired of Tony's (heretical, I know) and I was wondering if you're using something different.

How much liquid smoke? Just enough to coat?
These will end up on the menu as soon as I can find them for a good price!

Hope all of you (and the kiddos) feeling under the weather are doing better!

Glynis- Yet another vote for the Lime Chicken Nachos! Three thumbs up from my boys! Thought about y'all when I saw the forecast for the high winds / awful cold snowy weather headed your way. Wish I could ship some of our sunny weather towards you & the gals freezing in the Northeast!

Not to mention that Robin is a little odd about Scott lately. NOt only was it tacky it was a real imposition IMO.

I wish that I could contribute to your V Day but I must live the same way, I'm afraid. I love my DH dearly but he is not very good when it comes to Holidays. He has remembered card once in a while, some are better than others, and we have gone to dinner....again not too often. He sent flowers to me one time, it was for Easter and then I found out that his brother sent them for him. I knew him well enough to know that it was Gary's idea :rolleyes1. He has sent them to Marisa more times than me...for a special Valentine when she was 8 and two dozen pink and white long stemmed roses when Kady was born. Good think he amuses me....he'd be freezer filler

Never too late. Some of us just talk a lot. Jump in when you want, just your stopping in is fun for us.

I wish that you could as well. It is cold and breezy here but not so bad as some Janice and Glynis have had. If I had to have a winter like that I would be threatening to move.

Okay, I have added to my menu. I am going to make a cherry angel food cake because I know that the jello things are not going to be something that anyone is really going to call dessert. I can just see Buddy choking down a big red jiggling heart :lmao:after dinner...and Kady who really does not like them giggling as she keeps piling them on his plate :rotfl::rotfl:

Aw, just jump on in!

Perhaps it would help if we all "introduced" ourselves to you.

I'm Glynis. I'm a SAHM to 4 kids: Katie (10), Jacob (8), and twins Leslie and Mary (5). DH is a videographer with our news affiliate. I am not the greatest cook, but the people on this thread inspire me!!! I like recipes that are easy and taste great (so far, everything I've tried from this thread fits those requirements). As for my Disney experience? 1 trip to WDW to do the half marathon on my 40th birthday, and countless trips to DL. It's closer so we go there at least once every 2 years if not more often. I love it! I tell DH that I want to live on Main Street USA when we retire! I'm raising my kids to be Disney people, too! DH is slowly becoming converted, but he still believes that there are other places to visit on vacation as well (gasp!)

Right now, Katie and I are planning a mother/daughter trip to London in June and we're so excited about it!

So, that's me, in a nutshell! Tell us about yourself?

Me too! Me too! DH just doesn't understand it. I tell him it's like snacking all day long without ingesting any of the calories!

Ok, that I want pictures of!!! I have this mental image, and I need to see how correct I am!:rotfl:

Still snowing and blowing here, but the forecast says this storm should start moving out by noon.

Alan made it home by 10:30 last night. He was supposed to be home at 6:30, but there were so many accidents he just kept getting sent on stories. The latest on the schools is not too good. There were about 350 students still at schools as of 9:30 last night. By 10:30 all but 165 had been picked up by parents. Those 165 live in far out areas, and parents couldn't get in to get their kids. They were all taken to one school, where the principal and several teachers volunteered to stay, and they had a massive "sleep over" in the library. As of 7:00 this morning, they are all still there, but the school is closed for the day. The hope is that the parents will be able to pick these kids up sometime before noon. They have the kitchen open, and the kids have been fed, and entertained.

What a Valentine's day, huh?

As to my plans? Well, DH and I don't really do a whole lot. I'm making dinner, and we'll give the kids each a heart shaped box of candy. Other than that, I told Alan no gifts since we're trying to save money for London. We'll see, though. He likes to do things that are unexpected.

Angel- I'm Nancy a SAHN (stay at home Nana) to Kady, my 6 YO DGD. My husband is Buddy, a sandwich lovin guy who adores his "girls": Marisa my DD, Erica my DDIL and Kady. He would trip all over if I made him say he adored me as well :lmao::lmao::lmao:and so I will encourage my DGD to tempt him to eat strange food so that she can think that she pulled one over on him. He detests peanut butter so she has a little cache of PB treats that she slips to him.

I have two sons, Donald and Daniel and one DSIL, Jeff. I like to cook, tend to Nanatize recipes and enjoy Foodtv as well. I am a Disney nut and was converted by my DH of all people.

Glynis- I hope that those poor kids consider this an adventure!

Buddy and I do not exchange gifts either. We need a new vehicle for me and I really want to manage an extra little vacation this summer so we have been trying to conserve (good thing because I don't know how Marisa could run to the spa for a certificate in time for dinner, he doesn't even know where it is :confused3)

Last night I just made sandwiches. I made the spanglish sandwich, if any of you have seen that movie. It's basically a BLT but with the addition of a fried egg. Here's a picture:

Have not decided wfd yet. I am in a grouchy mood today. Grumble grumble.

How did you know that was me? What time is dinner tonight?

Well I'm Jessie (but my friends call me Angel hence the screen name) (29) and my DF is Julius (35) no kids. We're getting married in 23 days!!! I love to cook, and am currently unemployed. Julius is a Computer Programmer. We're both somewhat foodies. I am a Disney NUT and he used to work there. We have annual passes and go every couple months or so, and we're going on a aDisney Cruise for our honeymoon.
