What types of Christmas cookies are you baking?

I think it was you that mentioned these last year, They sounded so good. DH loves anything orange creamsicle. I gave up finding the vanilla chips, where do you find yours?

Nestle makes white chocolate chips. You can find them in the same aisle with the regular chocolate chips.

I have seen white choc chips but I thought these called for vanilla chips.

We are baking...well I should say the DH is baking..LOL..so you will get cookies, and he promised pumpkin cookies of some sort!!

Bless your hearts!! I love your guys cookies!! Now I am doing a cookie dance!

Here you go! It's technically not "MY" recipe, but I make them every year and they are very well received!! They are a nice, mild cookie, not a spicy one. My kids really like them!

God bless you! a gingerbread recipe that has no molasses! the first time i ever opened a jar of molasses was a few years ago to make a gingerbread cake, and i almost threw up. that's the world's WORST smell! (but the cake was good, according to my grandmother)

Wouldn't they be the same? :confused3 Shows you how much I know about things that are vanilla....LOL I'm more of a chocolate girl! :goodvibes

Nope, not the same at all. And I am with you, Choc all the way. but white choc is made from the oil of the coco bean I believe, and it does have a totally different taste than white choc.

Absolutely!!!

Any sugar cookie recipe, or even sugar cookie mix from a pouch! (if you use this, mix in some flour, 3 teaspoons or so)

Roll dough into 3/4 inch balls. make indentations in the center of each cookie. spoon about 1/4 teaspoon raspberry jam into each indentation. bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.

melt white chips in microwave. I do 45 seconds then stir and then 45 more seconds. that gets them the perfect consistency for drizzling. When the cookies come out of the oven, do the drizzling right then. I use a fork. I found that works best to dip the fork in the melted chips and then shake it back and forth over the cookies. yum!!! :goodvibes

Sounds DEElicious!!!! Thanks so much!

I'm pretty sure it's the same thing. Maybe their being called 'vanilla' because white chocolate isn't really chocolate. :)

Sooo...I kinda' want the recipe for everything you listed!!! They all sound good, and they are all (with the exception of the cheesecake and brownies) things I've never had before. I am especially interested in the Nutella cookies. In my experience if Nutella is involved, the results are delicious!
And Chai spice? Yum!

I would like the Nutella cookie recipe too! My kids love nutella!

They are not the same. Neither are real chocolate but they have a different taste.

I've had to make both for people who don't care for chocolate chips in their cookies. I've used butterscotch, vanilla and white chocolate. Slight difference in the taste.

I'll be making chocolate chip, sugar cookies, country raisin ginger snaps, fudge and truffles. But I'm not making anything yet....I'll wait until the week before Christmas.

Hazelnut Crinkle cookies:

2 eggs
1/3 C milk
1/2 C chopped, toasted hazelnuts (350 degrees for to 10 mins)
1/2 C finely chopped hazelnuts

In large bowl, combine Nutella and butter. Beat on med-high until combined. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs - beat until combined.

Alternately add flour and milk to the creamed mix beating on med. until just combined. Use a spoon to stir in 1/2 C hazelnuts.

Cover and chill for several hours or until firm.

Shape 1 to 1 1/2 inch balls. Roll in finely chopped hazelnuts and then in powdered sugar.

place 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.

375 degrees for 8 to 10 mins.

a little labor intensive, but oh so worth it! These are my DH's favorite cookies and I get compliments all the time!

(will come back to do Chai cookies after dinner):)

The only place I can find vanilla chips is a supermarket called Giant, up here in the Philadelphia area. I like the ones made by Hershey. If you email Hershey, they will email you back with a list of your local markets that carry them (that's how I found them).

I need to try those! My DH's grandmother used to make an orange iced cookie, and I have the recipe, but they are very labor intensive. These look a lot easier! How easy is it to find orange extract? I don't know if I've ever noticed it in the grocery store!

I've always found orange extract right with all the others, right in the baking aisle. I never noticed it until I was actually looking for it!! ;)

Thanks, will do.

After years and years of people begging for certain things, or even for me to come to their house and bake for them. I have a cookie day with about a dozen friends (children too) and make oodles of treats
This year
shortbread sugar cookies that are decorated with glossy cookie icing (I pre-make everything for this one, they just show up decorate, wait until icing sets, and take home)
gingerbread houses (again I premake all the house pieces, and then make bowls of royal and lay out lots of candies)
brown-eyed susans
russian tacakes
dipped oreos and nutterbutter (dipped and decorated with melted chocolates and/or candy melts; asst colors)
citrus crinkles (a cake mix cookie)
coconut macaroon (hands down fav of everyone, but me)
fudge
Snickerdoodles (some will be rolled in red or green sugar and become holi-doodles)

Last year we did some of the same but also did:
cranberry white chocolate oatmeal cookies
spicy gingermen
and pizelles

A real good way to make double or triple batches, but only end up with one plater per family.

And it works for me, beacause I'm an over-planning obsessive person. Heck I even make spreadsheets for time management of the day.

Actually cookie day is this saturday, and I should be up prepping some of the ingredient instead of Dis-ing
