I know what you mean. This lady I work with who is always on a "diet" brings a cinnamon raisin bagel with light cream cheese smothered all over it for a "snack" and thinks it's healthy. She also drinks a 2-3 serving size glass of juice so her whole "healthy snack" had about 500-600 calories in it, if not more. Bagels do have a lot of calories and carbs, but it's always better for you than a Big Mac.
