What Frugal Action Did You Take Today!?

Stayed home!! I haven't been in the mood to cook, so I have been making breakfast for dinner. French toast last night and scrambled eggs tonight. :cool1:

We usually eat out on Friday night, but we stayed in and everyone just found something here at the house to eat. So we saved $20-$30 eating at home. I think I am also going to talk to my husband about cutting back on our entertainment money, we usually take out $100 each week for eating out or entertainment.

DH wanted to take me out tonight for my birthday (it was yesterday, but he had to work), but i said no, i wanted to cook and stay home, and i wasn't lying, i really don't feel well. so, we stayed home and i made spaghetti instead.
i also put all my birthday money in an envelope, sealed it up, and asked DH to put it away for me. out of sight, out of mind.

Two things today: Resisted the urge to buy some birthstone earrings I've had my eye on, and two ate dinner at home instead of getting carry out. :thumbsup2

I must say, I LOVE this thread! I was going to go grocery shopping, but I am waiting for my coupons!! I will be going later, after the mail comes, regardless, so I hope they are here! ;)

I think this may be my only frugal action today.:scared1: well, that and I have a $614 surplus in my budget that is going to savings today!! :cool1:
Got my coupons today too.:dance3:My frugal action today was to wait to go to the store till tomorrow. DH has some errands to run and was going to do them on his day off(tomorrow). Since gas prices are getting so high, it made sense to get everything done on one trip. But it's killing me having to wait.:upsidedow The sale at my grocery store ends tomorrow. Hopefully they haven't sold out of all the stuff I have on my list.

Good luck finding what you need and want! I got yeast today, but instead of making pretzels, I made boring enchiladas and chilli beans. I will make them Monday instead!

I've been doing that, too. Every couple of weeks I take the money out of my "savings" jar and put it in an envelope. I write the date and amount on it and then pop it in my mom's safe deposit box. It is REALLY out of the way there ;) so no "dipping" into it (I was just keeping it here but DH "dipped" $200 out :headache:) So far I have saved $846 this way :woohoo:

I spent way too much money at work on food :sad2: but I will remedy that tomorrow by taking my lunch AND I booked our St Louis trip on Megabus for $40 for the two of us and it usually costs us $100.

I hope you feel better, and happy belated birthday!!:cool1::dance3::cheer2:

I put back a pair of boots at the store that were on sale. I have been wanting a new pair, and these were a great price, but I realized that my old ones are still in OK shape (just a bit dated, but they still work!), they just need a new innersole, so I saved $17.

thank you! :goodvibes turned the big 40 on thursday. :scared1:

I went to a store clearence center and bought over $200 worth for under 20. I bought 3 disney outfits[reg$35 each] 3 pr girls shoes,4 hats, 2 large pack socks,a purse and a few other things. I felt like I was stealing;) One of the outfits is for my nieces bd, at .75 it's the cheapest gift I have ever bought, also one of the cutest outfits I have seen disney make, it even has a funfur sweater.

We watched movies from Netflix,I wanted chinese food,so my DH made chinese fried rice from a package a bought from Publix-it tastes just like the take-out place!I made eggrolls with the rice. Went to Walgreens and bought chocolate covered raisins-B1G1,used my RR,paid nothing! All in all, this weekend was pretty much free or very cheap for us!

When I was at the pepperidge farm outlet, they had a deal on the twin french bread packs. So I got one thinking we would use it one night with dinner well we haven't yet. So instead of letting them go bad I cut them up and froze them. One I cut into pieces to toast up for dips and the other I cut up to make french bread pizzas.

I asked FreeCycle for a bread machine, had a reply within 20 minutes (and two more within the hour!), stopped by Walmart and got the supplies using a gift card, and have my first loaf of bread in the machine right now!

I also stopped by the library and got "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" to see what all the fuss is about.

AND - I convinced DH to get either Roku or Boxee Box so we can cut our $90 DirecTV bill after reading that thread today on here. He is looking at his options right now. I hope this works out, I would love that snowball! I can't wait to pay off this house and not be underwater! One year without TV = one extra mortgage payment.

ETA - we are going to our UU church auction tonight, I know we are bidding on a beach house weekend with another couple. I see it as a tax write off mini vacation. I hope we get it within our budget!

Instead of going to Target and browsing/buying things I don't need, i'm cleaning the entire house to keep me busy!

Sucks, but works! :thumbsup2

Simply put, I stayed home and did not spend any money, did not use any gas to go any place and use my stationary bike for exercise to get the legs ready for Disney.
