What Frugal Action Did You Take Today!?

Came into some unexpected money. Recieved the check yesterday, put it in the bank today and then posted it this evening on the credit card I am paying off.......... before temptation to spend it elsewhere crept in. :thumbsup2

I had gotten a $20 Barnes & Noble gift certificate through Groupon.com last week or the week before for $10. Today, I used it online buying 3 different Imagineering Field Guide books (usually $10 apiece) used for $20.73. So since $10 of my gift certificate was free, I got $30 in books for $10.73!

Today, I bought my eyeliner at Dollar Tree for $1 rather than for $3.50 at Walmart. Small savings, but it adds up!

I also cloth diaper my DS, so his dirty diapers were free like any other day. :rotfl: (And my cloth diaper stash has probably cost me $75ish over the past 20 months since I sewed them myself from free patterns online. :thumbsup2

A bread company has an outlet store here, and they sell about-to-expire breads for $1 for a flat. I got 30 bags of bread (3 flats) for $3 today! (If I had a bigger freezer, I could have gotten their special, which was 14 flats for $8. LOL!)

I needed walking shoes, so I went looking at JCP with a save $10 when you spend $25. I had also just receive a JCP $15 bday coupon to spend. I found some Avia's on sale for $35. They rang the $10 off first, then it also allowed my $15 bday coupon. :cheer2:
(doubling coupons is not the norm, but apparently the bday coupons can be combined)

I printed coupons and saved about $10 yesterday when I did my grocery shopping!! I also stuck to my list and didn't buy any "wants", just "needs". I also have started to buy the store brands whenever possible, sometimes there's a really big difference in price!!!

For couple weeks have opened house and refuse to turn on AC. Probably helps that I have hypothyroidism and can't stand the be cold right now. But hey its saving us some money, right?
:rotfl:exact opposite here....keeping house buttoned up tight, wearing layers and a heavy sweater, and keeping the heat down!:thumbsup2

I had to pick up some things for the silent auction for the school today. Each class is sponsoring a basket, so DD needed something for a garden basket, and DS needed something for a "When I Grow Up" basket. I found the cutest little bug catching kit for DD, and a neat detective fingerprinting kit for DS, and the best part was that the two things together came to less than I had budgeted for 1. I was annoyed that I didn't have a coupon for the store, but we didn't get any this week and the items are due on Friday.

I think this is my best deal I have gotten. I go grocery shopping very wed because our store double cpns up to $1 (farm fresh). I got 2 boxes of chex cereal,4 pringles, 2 simply juice, 4 muellers pasta,2 boxes of hamburger help, 2 boxes zadarain rice, 2 boxes swiss miss cocoa, 2 containers cooking sour cream, mortains seasoning and 2 chobani greek yogurt. Total before cpns about $36...after manufactures cpns $11.58....after $10 cpn from last week (spend $25 get $10 cpn)
I paid $1.58!!! :banana::cool1::yay: It was 97%:eek:
Oh I can't forget the $.35 worth of reusable bags (.05 for each)

Was invited out to lunch today, but invited my friend here for lunch instead. We had brunch, omlettes, hash browns and bagels with cream cheese. Win/win since she wanted to discuss her upcoming WDW trip (first one) and I had everything here to show her!

Had everything here to eat already, we're both vegetarians, so easy peasy!

Mine was yesterday. Instead of buying expensive bread at the grocery I went to the pepperidge farm outlet and got a ton of bread for a lot cheaper. I also got two of the frozen cakes, one chocolate passion and one mocha bliss, for a $1.

I did my own taxes today without any help or software. Savings is at least $40, as I've gotten quite good at doing the taxes over the years.

Called the cable company and got $25 off my bill for the next year.Just for asking!!Also started school shopping for the kids for next year and got some great deals.10.00 skinny jeans , 20.00 vans, 5.00 Old navy shirts!!Almost done already!!

:banana:WOOHOO For Kitikat great job!

I went into the basement and found some unopened toys. We have 6 birthday parties coming up- I think I have found at least 2 gifts and I have an idea for 2 more! All stuff that wasn't being used here.

took my car in for repair and had them check the squealing belt again. having timing belt and additonal parts replaced to the tune of $500-600. not way cheap but cheaper than a new car, or fixing the damage if the timing belt had blown! i hate touching savings but it feels good to know the money to pay the bill is there and waiting.

last week I made ribollita--an italian stew--and needed beef stock for it. Yeah...those two boxes cost $6+! I cleaned out my freezers 2 days ago and pulled a bunch of stew beef that needed to be cooked and made my OWN stock and am putting it in the freezer this morning.

Did the same for chicken stock 2 days ago. And I made my own 'pace picante' sauce for less than $2...a quart or more...instead of paying $3 for one jar.

Yesterday I found two pairs of baseball cleats for boys spring bball saeson. $10 each. Last year I paid $30 each. Spent $20 and saved $40 compared to last year! I also used 4 coupons for free 12 packs of coke products. Yeah for my budget!

I must say, I LOVE this thread! I was going to go grocery shopping, but I am waiting for my coupons!! I will be going later, after the mail comes, regardless, so I hope they are here! ;)

I think this may be my only frugal action today.:scared1: well, that and I have a $614 surplus in my budget that is going to savings today!! :cool1:

Frugal today was finding some unopened toys in a closet to regift. We have 6 parties coming up so that will help.

I went back to Target and loaded up another cart of frozen items and earned four more Target gift cards!
