The teens in my area wear Birkenstocks with socks. I have no idea why.

I along with most Seattle resident wear socks with Birkenstocks....

My DD18 and lots of kids do this by me also (Chicagoland area).
I‘ve noticed that most of these kids are very athletic (my DD is an athlete) and why they have acquired this look, and think it looks good, I’ll never know . But i keep my mouth shut because I see how other kids her age dress and I realize socks with sandals isn’t so bad - LOL!

Those one piece jumpsuit thingys some females are wearing now. The ones made of that cheap material that clings to every roll/bump of fat on your body and then some. Even worse if they are flesh colored....just because the material stretches to conform to your body doesn't mean you should wear it.

And how do you pee in those? It just seems so inconvenient.

Got my DD Birkenstocks for Christmas, which I got under protest. She had a pair of knockoffs and I hoped the fad would wane but now she wears with socks in public. The only thing worse than Birks and socks is knockoffs and socks, so I caved.

My DH wears Birks and socks and I wear Crocs. We're 73 - quite the pair we are.

maybe that’s all they can afford or want to spend on a dress or is there another meaning for cheap dress that I don’t know about.

Poorly constructed clothing are cheap regardless of cost. My mom always encouraged us to have Champagne taste on a beer budget.
