Well, sloppy sweats sure wouldn't vibe "elite"; you're right about that. Just what attire is proletariat enough? Is looking neat and decently put together too pretentious? And is it the prep school itself or the perception you object to? My kid went to a private school without uniforms - OK or not OK?

Yes better things are great. But you want to avoid becoming one of the elites at all costs. They are destroying this country.

High rise jeans are much worse.

High rise jeans, underwear showing droopy jeans, overalls, leg warmers, wearing pajama pants out in public. And Generally speaking, sloppy dirty looking clothes.

Speaking as a 40 year old mostly straight guy. For men, get rid of all the skinny jeans that are so tight you can't bend over or put anything in your pockets. Also anything that has the waistband of the pants lower than designed. "Sagging" started to be a big thing when I was in junior high and it was stupid then. For women, the ultra high rise jeans. Some of these I've seen on the local college campus they could use their bra as a belt.
