What do you do for a living?

I'm a "stay-at-home-wife" with a part-time job while I wait to start my new "career" of SAHM.

I was a flight attendant before that, and I plan on going back to that once our child is older.

Toad, we love IT Crowd around here - my DH is a IT Manager - he says goofy things like PICNIC (problem in chair, not in computer) and many others...

Why is British TV so much better than ours! - You may enjoy An Idiot Abroad on Science Channel - from creators of IT Crowd...

I think the 6 episode season helps. They have no need for a bad (filler) show. I love Peep Show, Peep Show has been on since 2003 with 7 seasons but only 42 shows, or the original Office only is 12 + 1 special episode. I always here people say they like the original better, but that is unfair because if you pick 12 shows from the 163 of the us office you would have a show just as good if not better.

BTW I do retouching.

I am currently retired. I am attempting to get some books I've written published. Prior to that, I was a systems manager and software designer for 30 years. I taught high school English, computer and art. I worked for the Disney Florist and I owned my own gift basket business.

I don't know if this has already done, but I thought it might be neat to do. I'm sure like most people on here, we all wonder what some of the people who are DIS do for a living. I've always wondered.

So with that in mind, post what type of work you do or exactly what you do. Be specific or general. Feel free to share as much info as you want to. This would also be a great way to network with others in your field or those people in the field of work you'd like to get into.

I'll start first:

I'm a Crime Scene Investigator for an area police department. And before anyone asks, no it's not like it is on TV.

I really like my job. I respond to all types of crime scenes from simple property crimes to robberies, suicides and murders. I work a lot of hours and often times my work goes unnoticed by the public. We receive a lot of specialty training which does allow me the opportunity to travel to some places I might not otherwise be able to visit.

So go ahead and jump on board!

Great job and our minds thing alike. I am a death investigator for the county and a forensic consultant for many local law enforcement agencies, plus I teach 2 classes at a local college in forensics. There are only 2 schools in New York that have forensic degrees:confused3:confused3:confused3 and dont know why this is, it is such a growing field and demand is high. I am considering going back to school to get my doctorates in forensic psychology at John Jay College in NYC.

I hear that all the time. When people find out what I do thats all they want to talk about. Which is good because I have some interesteing stories to share. The job is not for everyone because we deal with a lot of things that most people would not.

AGREED, I can tell you some stories as well but most of them are pretty gross

I am an ER Nurse and will be going back to school this fall for my BSN :)

I love my job and my co-workers, it's great to be a part of such an amazing team!

I'm a Paramedic. I love my job! And, like the OP, it's not nearly as glamorous as what you see on TV.

I am a Fair Housing Investigator and Civil Rights Investigator. Most of my salary is paid for by the federal government, but I am actually employed by the state. I used to work as a Probation and Parole Officer for six years.

Okay, Jason, I cannot believe you can't spell your own job title. ;)

:lmao: Wow. I cannot believe that the auto spell-checker on my work computer changed it to that. Don't know how I was spelling it, but it must have been something good to change it to that. Good thing I wasn't a English major.

I spent the last several years working with Disney, so no comment. ;)

I would like to start a career in corporate training and development; yes, i LOVE public speaking!! if anyone works this job or has any leads please PM me :goodvibes

Could you tell that I WAS???? :lmao:

Great job btw! :thumbsup2

I am a book editor. I love my job, but hopefully will be a literary agent someday (hopefully sooner rather than later!).

I am currently double majoring in Psychology and Public Health Policy.

I am doing an internship next school year with the County Public Health Dept and after I graduate I plan on getting my MPH and my Ph.D in Developmental Psychology.

Main focus right now with Public Health at school though is health care so that is my main focus right now and it looks like next year I will also be able to intern in Sacramento or DC for Public health.

So...no job yet, but lots of goals!

I am going to school to be a certified nursing assistant, and will be done in 1 month! Then I will be taking my pre-requisites for nursing school, and going on to get my RN.

I'm finishing up my MS in microbiology while being a most of the time SAHM and doing an internship with a gov't agency to get a foot in the door. I aim to do counter bioterrorism.

I'm a dispatcher for our local PD. I answer 911 calls, routine PD calls, dispatch PD along with fire & EMS, run warrant checks for officers, enter new warrants, process criminal history requests, call for tow trucks/cabs/snow plows/animal control/whatever else officers can think of. :lmao: I absolutely LOVE my job & all the great officers & firefighters I work with.

From 8:30-12:30 I am an Administrative Assistant and Marketing Director. In the afternoons I am a cake decorator out of my home.
