I’m sorry that it was such a bad experience for you. Yes, unfortunately based on others’ experiences you are likely locked out (for now). You should expect to have to go to the parks and at least try the alternative accommodations suggested, and if they still don’t work for you perhaps you and your partner will be able to communicate your needs in a way that will lead the CM granting you DAS.

One suggestion I might have, and I mean no disrespect here, is that if you do end up communicating with the Disney Disability team via email that you have someone else proofread it ahead of time to ensure that your message is coming across clearly and as intended. I know that posting online and writing an email are two different things, but there are enough typos and grammatical issues in what you wrote above that it makes me suspect that you may also have trouble communicating in written form as well.

You may also want to practice what you want to say to CM at each line, especially expect to have to leave the standard line rather suddenly or if you are asking to wait outside of the standard queue and rejoin your party once they get to the merge point. This might help to take away some of the anxiety about talking to strangers and articulating your needs.

Best of luck to you!

thank you i will do this

One future tip that has helped me with those conversation: I write down in bullet points everything I want to make sure to say (what triggers my symptoms, what those symptoms are, and why specifically waiting in line is an issue). It really helps to be able to refer to my notes so I don't get stressed and forget in the moment.

Make a plan without it. It’s extremely unlikely you get it before your trip now. Time to rework your plans to be there for early entry and/or late at night for lighter crowds- but that will only help a bit. Maybe consider something like Touring Plans trip planning tools to help minimize time in line. The best tip is unfortunately LL, expensive but it will assure you a few rides a day without stressful lines. If it’s too expensive try to look at your trip and see where you can cut back to budget in some LL.

You could attempt the things Disney suggested and if they don’t work go to guest relations and ask to speak to the DAS team again. You will need to explain exactly what you tried and why it didn’t work. And even then it is not guaranteed they will then issue a DAS, they very likely could still say no so you’re going to want alternative plans in place even if you try this route.

Yes, this! Control your controlables. DAS is mostly out of your hands at this point. What else can make your experience smoother and more manageable? Touring Plans and LL are great. Also, what can you bring? Mobility aids, noise cancelling headphones, electrolytes, braces/compression gear, personal fan, medication, etc. can all help. I've gotten approved for DAS my last 3 trips, but I always book my trips knowing it isn't guaranteed so I try to hope for the best (approval) but prepare for denial.

I had the same experience; it seems that if you're able to have a conversation then you won't get the DAS (Intended for severe cognitive disabilities only). I have no interest in re-traumatizing myself outside of any ride I want to go on that I can't get a LL for, so it'll be LL only for me. I wish we still had fast passes :(

I have been approved three times since the change no denials no medical professional did all the calls my self. So they do approve some that can do the calls themselves

This really irritates me to read stuff like this. I’m currently watching a YouTube vlogger and her vlogger friend use the DAS to ride BTMRR at WDW. Their friend has a DAS pass and they’re taking full advantage of it to not stand in the long line. That should not be allowed. People who need DAS should not have issues with this occurring.

Aside from I don't care for the vlogging in the parks, that really has nothing to do with this situation.

If the friend has been given a DAS, they have the right to use that and bring a friend with them.
That should not be allowed.
Not sure what you mean "should not be allowed"?

Not really sure what you are saying here. Disney has made their lines very accessible. They have come up with other alternative solutions to issues that come up at the moment. They are trying to narrow the scope to situations that can't be remedied any other ways. LOTS of people want the DAS, but it's not reasonable.

Our last call after a long discussion the CM said "I don't see that there is any other workable assistance, other than DAS, for him." BUT each time I call I am fully prepared that a CM might to decide to not approve him. In that case I will adjust my budget to get LL and shift our touring where I can. Disney doesn't get any more money from me, I just pull it from nicer dining or shopping or snacks .... but in the end it is my responsibility to plan for his vacation and adjust if need be.

I was thinking the same thing.

Wait. Are you trying to say that just because one them is "vlogging" they shouldn't have been given DAS?? How do you know what their needs are?

I don't know if this is what the other poster was talking about, but I saw a post (I think on FB) about using their daughter's DAS to ride when she was back at the hotel (with grandparents) having her nap. I actually assumed that he was making it up because I thought the person with the DAS needed to have their band scanned, but I guess you could take someone else's band (though I thought that scanning it would pop up a picture of the DAS holder). So, perhaps, the vlogger is also saying that they are using the DASS without the DAS holder? Again, I don't actually think that this is possible anymore though.

You are correct. I don't think they were telling the truth, or maybe don't even have a DAS, just trying to stir the pot. When you use the DAS the HOLDER must be there, they must scan first and the CM verifies it because the DAS holder's photo pops up on the screen. It is why they take their picture when getting the DAS. If the photo doesn't match the person scanning, the DAS won't be honored.

When your Liar Radar goes off, trust it. People lie about the stupidest stuff for attention.
