I spend my time primarily with infants and toddlers but I get the best of both worlds because of my college students that take the lab course. It's hard work, but fun and always interesting.

Sometimes I feel like an elementary school teacher!
OP, you have my dream job! I worked for my local PD when I graduated college back in the mid 90's in the planning dept, but I longed to be in crime scene. Had we stayed, I would have moved when/if the opp came up. I went on to have a great career as a paralegal, but have been a SAHM for the last 2 years and I love it. I still do some contract paralegal work here and there and I also handle the financial side of my husband's job (he's self employed).
I don't know if this has already done, but I thought it might be neat to do. I'm sure like most people on here, we all wonder what some of the people who are DIS do for a living. I've always wondered.
So with that in mind, post what type of work you do or exactly what you do. Be specific or general. Feel free to share as much info as you want to. This would also be a great way to network with others in your field or those people in the field of work you'd like to get into.
I'll start first:
I'm a Crime Scene Investigator for an area police department. And before anyone asks, no it's not like it is on TV.
I really like my job. I respond to all types of crime scenes from simple property crimes to robberies, suicides and murders. I work a lot of hours and often times my work goes unnoticed by the public. We receive a lot of specialty training which does allow me the opportunity to travel to some places I might not otherwise be able to visit.
So go ahead and jump on board!
Last night I tried to talk my son into making it HIS major in college!!
Unfortunately the nut didn't fall far from the tree and he insists in following my footsteps into the underpaid nightmare called communications!
You mean you don't run around in low cut shirts, tight pants and have sci-fi quality investigative equipmentThey have a CSI class at our high school that is VERY popular. The teacher is a former CSI agent as well. You pretty much have to be in your last semester senior year to get into the class.
I am officially retired from my financial planning career as my hearing loss has pretty much deemed it impossible to do a large portion of my job. I am looking for something that isn't so telephone intensive--possibly something in the HR/benefits area.

I.T. here.
And, yes, most things can be fixed by "turning it off and on again."(Any IT Crowd fans here?)
This is also the reason I can hang out on the DIS for most of my day.![]()
Commercial Fisherman, I catch, process, buy, and sell oysters, crab, and shrimp; or at least I did till BP came along, now we are mostly living off of savings.
