What do you do for a living?

I am a paraprofessional at a middle school for a self contained special ed class (: The kids are 5th to 8th grade, and I love each and every one of them!

Well, technically I am a Paralegal! But, at the office in which I work, I am the Paralegal, the Legal Secretary, the Bookeeper, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Runner, and Personal Assistant! Oh well, I have some GREAT thing to add to my resume at least!

No really I love what I do, the boss can be a real, ummm, there isn't a dis legal word for it, at times, but I stay EXTREMELY busy and the day goes by SUPER fast, so it works out pretty well!

I was a background investigations specialist for years, but that position was consolidated and I'm now an FMLA specialist.

Commercial Fisherman, I catch, process, buy, and sell oysters, crab, and shrimp; or at least I did till BP came along, now we are mostly living off of savings.

I am a "Sr. Contractual Billing/Financial Analyst" for one of the worlds largest telecommunications providers that may or may not start with a V. Basically what I do is manage large corporate contracts that are signed with customers, validating that they are getting all of the rates, discounts, etc. that their 500+ page contract says they should be getting. I work with CFO's, lawyers, financial analysts to ensure that their contracts legal terms are being met and provide reporting on their traffic to the customers showing all of their usage, discounts, etc.

Whew! That sounds kind of fancy and important but really...it's just analyzing their phone/data bill and makes sure we're providing the rates they signed up for. :lmao:

I am a Nurse Practitioner with a cardiologist office... I LOVE my job!!!!

I hope things get better for you soon:sad2: My Dad was a commercial fisherman for many years between the Navy and the Merchant Marines and I know how hard he worked to support our family. He fished George's Bank and all around the Northeast waters. He also shellfished (lobster, scallops, clams) for years as well. In the very cold months he hunted in the Allagash for bear and deer. Recently I read an article that listed commercial fishing as the MOST dangerous job there is.

I am a domestic engineer (AKA stay at home mom). I volunteer at my sons kindergarten at least one day a week and I am also a teachers aid sub at my other sons preschool. So the stay at home part is very misleading! My DH wants me to go back to school for my nursing degree. I don't want to until my kids are older because I love what I do now and do not want to miss these years.

I am an accountant for township government. My job is not very exciting but I like it and someone has to do it.

I.T. here.

And, yes, most things can be fixed by "turning it off and on again." :rotfl: (Any IT Crowd fans here?)

This is also the reason I can hang out on the DIS for most of my day.

I'm currently a SAHM to my DS11 who has special needs. I would love to be working, but I need to be home in the afternoons. I haven't worked in two years. Prior to that, I was a Licensed Massage Therapist. Had an interesting clientel, worked on a lot of pregnant women and athletes, especially runners training for the Boston Marathon (worked at the event three years, really fun). After a while my body started protesting, so I gave it up. Thinking of getting something part-time, but don't know what yet.

One of my favorite parts of this run this year? LOL Each Wednesday the school has a 1/2 day and since we live over an hour away, the bus garage has me stay up in the area and I can do whatever I want during those 4 hours that they're in school!!! So what I do, is pack up some of my scrapbooking stuff and head to a scrapbook store about 15mins down the road and get some of my scrapbook layouts done. I have finished more pages since the beginning of this school year than I have in the past couple of years. LOL Works out really good!!!

Can i have the name of the store? I live 25 minutes from west hartford, and I need a new store, since mine closed :sad1:

Sorry forgot to post what I do. I am a Sr. Financial Analyst for a large insurance company.

I am the purchasing/accounting manager for a distribution company. I also have a handful of international accounts I do customer service for. It's a great job:lovestruc

I am an associate bookkeeper for our public school district. We have 19 schools, a charter school and a few special needs groups. I keep the books and financial records for the cafeterias/kitchens of all schools. I'm not crazy about the job, but it has great benefits such as Christmas and spring break off with the kids. My second job is my favorite. It's being a mommy to my 2 precious kids, a sweet old dog and a VERY destructive chihuahua puppy!!! My dd turns 9 today and my ds is 3 1/2. I am a cook, tutor, chauffer, house keeper, maid, slave, play mate, nurse, and BFF for these two! :rotfl2: and i love every minute of it!!!

I am a SAHM. Before that I was a restaurant manage (my education) and then a Litigation Claims Specialist for an insurance company.

My kids are only 3.5 and 10 months old and we want at least one more. I am starting to itch to go back to school though. I am not sure what I want to do though ... Accounting? Paralegal? Nursing? Those are my ideas.

I was a SAHM but now a subsitute high school teacher. Love the high school kids.:thumbsup2
