I don't know if this has already done, but I thought it might be neat to do. I'm sure like most people on here, we all wonder what some of the people who are DIS do for a living. I've always wondered.

So with that in mind, post what type of work you do or exactly what you do. Be specific or general. Feel free to share as much info as you want to. This would also be a great way to network with others in your field or those people in the field of work you'd like to get into.

I'll start first:

I'm a Crime Scene Investigator for an area police department. And before anyone asks, no it's not like it is on TV.

I really like my job. I respond to all types of crime scenes from simple property crimes to robberies, suicides and murders. I work a lot of hours and often times my work goes unnoticed by the public. We receive a lot of specialty training which does allow me the opportunity to travel to some places I might not otherwise be able to visit.

So go ahead and jump on board!

Well, technically I guess you can call me a stay at home mom.

But I do random jobs on my own to help contribute to the school loans.... I mean bills.

I have a in your home pet sitting service.
I make and sell bows, etc.
I am a tavel agent for a certain wonderful place.
I am a babysitter.
I do some freelance writing.

Its hard to have a steady job when we move so much (army) so I do what I can that I can take with me wherever we go. It's worked so far and I love what I am able to do!

Dream job? Anthropologist.

I have my own little cake decorating business and work from home. I LOVE it! I used to work as a project manager/management consultant at a large financial services company and was offered a package to leave a few years ago. I snatched it up, got my kitchen licensed and I've not looked back once! I'm obsessed with cake!

I'm a stay at home mom who homeschools her 16 yo. It can get interesting. Right now she is studying Algebra, Spanish, World History, English, and Biology. She is doing very well.

Technical operator at a breakfast factory. It involves size changing machines when changing products, getting hourly figures, doing gas meter checks in the plant on day shift. Quality checks on products (for appearence and taste) liasing between the line leader and operators.

Lunch lady at a High School. Up until this date last year I was a SAHM for 16 years. Before that I was a Lab tech at a Veterinary Hospital.

I am a bus driver for special needs pre-schoolers and organist for 2 churches.

Right now, I am a stay at home mom, but I am going back to school this fall for paralegal studies. I'm really excited!

OP, you have my dream job! I worked for my local PD when I graduated college back in the mid 90's in the planning dept, but I longed to be in crime scene. Had we stayed, I would have moved when/if the opp came up. I went on to have a great career as a paralegal, but have been a SAHM for the last 2 years and I love it. I still do some contract paralegal work here and there and I also handle the financial side of my husband's job (he's self employed).

I'm in my 10th year of driving a school bus.

Over the years I usually drove the "big" bus for students from preschool through 12th grade. The most challenging ones to drive????? the middle school students....OY VEY!!!!

Each year we have the choice of which bus run we want to have for the school year and it gets chosen by seniority. Well, this year I chose to drive a mini van and transport 2 special needs students over an hour away to a school in West Hartford. I have a 10yr old girl and 21yr old boy. They are both very well behaved. I have a built in DVD player in the van and they watch movies each day on their long commute.

One of my favorite parts of this run this year? LOL Each Wednesday the school has a 1/2 day and since we live over an hour away, the bus garage has me stay up in the area and I can do whatever I want during those 4 hours that they're in school!!! So what I do, is pack up some of my scrapbooking stuff and head to a scrapbook store about 15mins down the road and get some of my scrapbook layouts done. I have finished more pages since the beginning of this school year than I have in the past couple of years. LOL Works out really good!!!

I am a buyer. I had been buying office supplies for many years but now buy tires.

Purchasing manager for a rehab facility FT and I am also a prep cook two days/week during the school year. I have recently begun thinking of opening up some kind of "meals to go" business where I cook family meals and deliver them each night but I need to research that idea a bit more:thumbsup2
