Hey Julie,
I just went back in your thread and took the link over to your page describing the book you made for Michael and I am in awe...
I may make a simpler version for David for next month-my time is running...he would love the visual of seeing what is coming up next and I need to get him used to using lists-he needs to start to get himself ready for school in the fall-without constant nudging he'd be reading in his room or playing legos...
I have come to the conclusion that David has AS...(I have 3 different opinions-one yes, one maybe and one I don't think Asperger's is a real diagnosis...

)
It's been difficult getting a diagnosis nailed down for him because he isn't "clearly" Aspie-sometimes, usually when he's with his family-he just seems like a precocious little guy (he's very smart)...he is usually very optimistic and flexible...but he is very distractable (daydreamy), very literal-although he has a great sense of humor
(I thought he might have ADD-but it isn't that...), he doesn't have a lot of sensory issues-oddly other than a sensitivity to strong smell-probably his two biggest challenges are anxiety-not about things like rides-lol-he'll ride anything he is allowed on but when he isn't sure what's happening he gets panicky and socially-he is friendly and social but sometimes doesn't pick up the subtle social cues...(ie. he gets too close, he can be too honest, etc.) These issues come forth much more at school when he isn't with us...
He's needed OT for handwriting and we've sent him for social skills classes.
When I think about it-I think my dad had/had Asperger's too...
Anyway sorry for the ramble-I'm just trying to get it all straight in my head and want to do the very best things for him...
(Ironically I was already training for Advocacy before this came up-but its actually just made it all the more poignant for me...)
