We've Bounced Back like Tigger SB09 TR NEW 9/11 CLOSING TIME....

Hi Julie!

I finally had a few moments to catch up on your TR..things are crazy around here!

Sounds like you are having a FABULOUS summer! The lake house looks amazing..how awesome that you can spend time there with the famly. I LOVE the picture of Margaret with her hair blowing in the wind on the boat! Very cute!

I wish I had that same officer 2 summers ago when I got pulled over. I got 2 speeding tickets in a matter of six months...yikes! Needless to say I have slowed down a bit!

I'm glad at least some of the family made it over to TSI. We enjoy it over there! Good for you for sticking to your guns with Mae! :thumbsup2

I'll probably fall behind again as we are leaving for a 10 day camping trip this Saturday (7/11). I'll catch up when I get back!! :yay:

Hi Lisa!

Yes, I recall having cell phone issues too - it's just SO hard to hear the thing ringing when you're in a park! :headache:

and then I think for us it just wasn't going thru and would bump right into VM..oh well at least the times we were trying to get hold of us weren't major emergencies!

I'm glad your dad was able to enjoy that experience again - even better, with his grandchildren!

Yes I was a bit bummed I didn't go w/ my Dad...but he sure had fun and that was on his list of things he wanted to do, so happy for him!

That Josefina sure gets around

Don't you know it! I hope in about 2 weeks when Aldine is home from camp to work on her book of all of Josefina's travel's with her, should be fun!
Looking forward to it popcorn::

thanks!

I'm glad too...it can be easy at WDW to give out empty threats to your kids, cause you think you'll feel bad of them missing out, but sometimes you've got to do it!

I'll probably fall behind again as we are leaving for a 10 day camping trip this Saturday (7/11). I'll catch up when I get back!! :yay:

Sounds like a great time away w/ your family for some much needed R & R !! looking forward to hearing more.

Hey guys...

our regular home computer went on the fritz last yesterday afternoon...I'm keeping my fingers crossed I didn't contract a virus  and that it just is some ***ing thing, right now the main issue the monitor stays on w/ picture for 10 sec bursts...:headache:

anyhoo...

I 'm lucky enough to be able to use a spare laptop from my DH's work, but to busy today w/ errands and getting ready to go back up to the Lake House again in MI.

I originally hoped to get caught up on some of the reports I read and do another post here, but it will have to wait till Monday now.

Have a great weekend all!

Scrappie (J-) :wizard:

Hope your computer is fixable and not expensive. Have a great weekend. Can't wait to read the rest of your trip report.

Computer: :surfweb:

YAY! All fixed....it was just the monitor dying....TG! DH had an extra monitor in the basement from his "gaming computer" that he brought up and we are back in business....though we'll eventually have to get a "new" monitor for the home pc so he can have this one back...but good for now. So thanks for the well wishes ljcrochet

Another Disney purchase....:rolleyes1

Ok for those of you who read KathyRN and Carissanboys reports...know they both recently went shopping at the Disney Store to score some sweet sales which seems to be a trend throughout the boards lately...and I am no different, I actually visited the store on official job application business last week and came home w/ some loot (mainly for kids for Christmas) but ;)

yesterday I went online to see if I could find a new suit for Mae in her size on sale. I noticed over the weekend her pretty Disney Ariel suit was ripped. So in the process of locating a Sleeping Beauty one-piece swimsuit in a size 7, I also bought

SHIRTS and not just plain 'ol shirts for anyday...but a set of 6 matching Disney Logo shirts for the trip NEXT YEAR!!!! that oh is still over a yr away....I am so bad  plus I bought shirts for DH, Michael, Aldine and myself for our "green day" at AK on the trip next. I need to see if I can find the coordinating ones for the little girls at the stores... Well hey, for a trip over 1 yr away I already have 3 days worth of tops set (I also bought matching Tink ringers for me and the girls last yr).....:lmao:

Autistic Revelation:

As most of you know my DS Michael has been perfectly designed in his own way w/ Apsergers or High-Functioning Autism. Over the weekend in MI w/ Matt's parents, my DMIL said to me.....

"I get it now"

It has been just about 2 yrs since Michael was diagnosed and my DMIL has read many books and articles online etc...trying to wrap her brain around this...and DH & I have had lengthy conversions w/ her about Michael and how this diagnosis has always been there it just didn't really seem to come out till that time. And how these "things" effect him and "no, it's not just a boy thing"

Michael was full on this weekend....doing his major motor outbursts to his extreme calm of just sitting and thinking....at least that's what I think he's doing ...kinda like a robot re-charging his batteries.

But seeing him this weekend not around alot of people and out in the open so to speak not confined to the security of his own room...she got to see him for who he is and now she understands. :)

It brings tears to my eyes...

we don't always know or understand what Michael is thinking or doing even being w/ him all the time and get :confused3 so I don't blame my DMIL to feel the same...but it's like she finally accepts it and is not trying to come up w/ some other explanation.

it really was an autistic revelation for her and us!

I was just going to PM this to a few Disers w/ autistic children but thought why not share this good feeeling moment w/ all of you!

THANKS for being part of my life and my children lives...besides the crazy Disney part :grouphug:

Back to Disney soon....have lots of posts typed and getting ready to GO!

Scrappie (J-)

I'm glad DMIL finally "got it". I bet in someways before she was just hoping it was a phase and Michael would out grow it. Only because she wants the best for him. And I think it would be tough not to in some respects because he is the only boy.

Looking forward to your updates!!!

people were already saving spots for Spectro at 8:30 pm even though the ropes weren’t up yet. It just seemed every bench and seating area had people staked out on them. Maybe it was a bit premature…but I was slightly worried if I went on the island too, we ‘d get a bad spot and we really needed a bench or something for my Mom to sit on….crouching down on the pavement isn’t fun for her.

So I explained to Mae we couldn’t make it to the island after all and I called DH on his cell. He told me they made the last raft over anyways so we couldn’t have gone if we wanted (it closes at 7 pm), also my Mom didn’t go and stayed behind w/ the stroller. Matt took Margaret w/ them.

I tried several times to get hold of my Mom on her cell, but it kept going in voice mail.....She eventually got my VM and tried calling me but it went in my voice mail….see a trend in our cell phone issues here.

Hey, Julie!
I know exactly what you mean about needing a bench... we had that same concern when Aunt Rae was with us!

It's amazing how early people stake out their spots... glad you got a nice one! Perhaps it was good karma after all that Mae was picky with dinner!

The cell phone thing happens to us, too. How annoying! :headache:

Your dad and the kids look like they had a great time on the Island!

What a breakthrough! So glad for your family! :grouphug:

My mom "gets it" but my dad does not. He still gets annoyed at Billy when he "misbehaves" at their house. :confused3 On the one hand, it's good that a grandparent treats an autistic grandchild as he would all the others, but on the other hand, there is no way that an autistic child can be expected to act the same way his typical cousins do.

I'm glad your MIL took it upon herself to read up on it... I'm sure her newfound understanding of Michael will ease a lot of family tension.

Thanks for sharing the news!!

thanks! yes that is very true

Looking forward to your updates!!!

will get on it tomorrow!

I know...sooner than I would have thought....yes Mae's lack of eating may have helped us out here!

The cell phone thing happens to us, too. How annoying! :headache:

does make splitting up a bit harder...we've done the 2 way walkie things too...but you'd think the cells would be so much easier :confused3

Your dad and the kids look like they had a great time on the Island!

they sure didn, my Dad is a big kid himself!

What a breakthrough! So glad for your family! :grouphug:

thank you!

yes I understand that too w/ my younger nephew

thanks for reading and being a big support to me

Yay for the revelation!! Both my mother & my MIL get it... but my mom doesn't always have the patience. I think all of us have new revelations all the time. ;) The best one is when you realize you can't "fix" them... or even better... that you don't need to. :goodvibes

The end of Day 5) SPECTROmagical fun!

There we were awaiting the parade and the route was starting to get more crowded as the time passed w/ people trying to find spots along the route, a few people came near us to only head off for redder pavement I guess….

The kids liked going over by the CM’s w/ the hula hoops especially Aldine she is whiz at that Hula thing and Margaret found a few ways to amuse herself too…

100_2540.jpg

100_2542.jpg

Like most kids under 3, she thought the mulch was so fun amusement: to pick up and throw around into new piles, on the ground, in Mama’s lap, on our towel…you name it.

And then when she started to realize we were not pleased w/ her play of choice she thought so slyly of herself and snuck over to another planting area to play w/ some other mulch. Oh and at one point she is walking around behind us and tried to open the doors to the Horseshoe, I’m figuring it was closed down she couldn’t do it, but yep she pulled it open and if DH hadn’t been there she would have walked right in!

I have to get DH to transfer the video of her from this night to share w/ you all it is too cute!

Finally it was almost dark and I walked across to an ice cream stand to use some of our snack credits for Matt and 3 of the kids (no none was bad, Margaret can’t have any, dairy intolerance).

Here is everyone waiting:

Many other quests had the same thought as me, so it was a bit of a long line and by the time I got up to order the cart was out of a few items, but it still had plenty of the MM ice cream sandwiches. YUM! Also as I watched the crowd growing I noticed DH get up from the bench we were sitting on and some family squeezed right in stealing our spots…I was trying to get DH’s attention to tell him, but luckily those people moved, whew…otherwise my spot was gone.

After enjoying our yummy treat Matt got out our glow bracelets and we gave away a few of our extras to some kids sitting near us. And then time for the parade!

100_2545.jpg

"I'm ready!"

I wanted to capture some of it on video this yr but as well take a few pictures for you all, of course. Most of you have seen it in all it’s wonderful Disney lighted magic, but it still is fun to share…but trying to work a video and still camera both at the same time proved to be a little more technically challenging for me as I did not come away w/ as many great pictures as last yr when DH was on camera duty (w/ the still) plus as annoying as this occurs and seems to happen to us a lot and not just at Disney, but we wait our spot out claiming a great viewing spot to then have some last minute family show up behind you or to the side and pushes their kid(s) in front of you…:headache:

And this was no exception I’m sure she was a sweet little girl w/ her Minnie Mouse headband on, but her ears kept getting in my shots!

And then later to my embarrassment :oand my family’s’ utter amusement  when we re-watched the video we had taken over the week at home, this bit was just too good….I apparently forgot 2 times to pause the video and there you saw my blurry shorts and thigh w/ the Spectro music playing in the background….whoops

Here are just a few pictures to share:

see what I mean....

The parade was great as usual and we all enjoyed it very much. As it passed us by and the ropes and tape were being pulled and the lights were coming back up on the streets, an announcement was made over the PA

“ The Magic will continue this evening at Magic Kingdom w/ the park remaining open till 10 pm and one more Spectro added for the night!”

(OK that was probably not the exact words and I think they may have announced this before the 8:30 Spectro, but in my TR it sounds better this way ;))

Our very own Nighttime Surprise at MK!

We decide YAY what luck let’s take advantage of the crowds still lined up for Wishes and now probably people getting reading to line up for the next Spectro and see some more stuff.

We headed over to POC first and walked right on, how fun is that, it was basically empty over here in Adventureland! Then off to AFC (Aladdin’s Flying Carpets) and myself and the twins walked right up and waited all of 2 minutes probably for the next turn. And just like last yr when Aldine and I had our mother-daughter night out at MK as we were on AFC when Wishes began and it was fun to see several of the fireworks from up in the sky!

Everyone else watched from the street and we finished watching a few more of the bursts from the street too. Yes it is not as impressive w/out the castle view, but no crowds and Michael was pleased he is not the biggest fan of the big BOOMS!

Next we headed back toward Fantasyland to try and do PPF again, but the wait here was too long, so then we winded back around the back of the park into Tomorrowland and rode BLAB and then the we-way-people mover (TTA). Margaret was starting to fall asleep in the stroller, so my great Dad just sat behind while she rested.

100_2600.jpg

We got some fun pictures while zipping thru TL and of the castle all lit up on our way out of the park:
